Improved as the game went on today. Needs few more games to get back into the form we're capable off. Wonder if the next signing is the CB cos it's an area we need strengthening

James Tarkowski -

He will be fine.

Stick with him.

James Tarkowski -

absolutely right mate ........

I agree but that doesn't disguise the fact he had another less than convincing game today. I like him a lot but he has the same capacity for errors as Harlee who has been the subject of considerable criticism this season for that very reason.

Only since he spent quite a long time on the bench? I don't remember him making that many errors before that, but you see more games than me so ....

James Tarkowski -

He needs games and once fully match fit he'll be fine. Certainly not a liability but needs to be careful with distribution when the last man.

James Tarkowski -

I am a big fan of Tarks, but he was he was poor today in the first half. Got caught out way too often. Second half better, but overall not great. Hope it us match rustiness.

James Tarkowski -

He certainly isn't the same player we know he can be at present. Some of his basic judgement when positioning for headers which whistled over his head a couple of times etc looked very bad.

I am a fan of Tarks but needs to sharpen up quick.

Central defence does give me nightmares at the moment as we look weak through the middle.

James Tarkowski -

Lots of double standards on here .

James Tarkowski -

I reckon we should threaten to send him back to Oldham on loan, that seemed to work last season, I know I'm boring but hasn't got anywhere near last season's form, it's worrying.

He made plenty. Bournemouth and Rotherham away, Fulham and Norwich at home...

It's clear he's the 'type' of centre half we want but I'm not convinced we don't need a better centre half who plays in the same way.

James Tarkowski -

Maybe he's nervous playing on the left but I was nervous watching him. His headers seemed to go straight up in the air, although he did manage to direct a few forward in the second half, and he let the ball bounce too many times and then was too slow to recover. I'm sure he's better than that but we need better right now.

James Tarkowski -

Struggled again today but do think its just a case of getting his fitness back so we just need to stick with him.

I thought Harlee and him had had an argument. Bugger all communication between them. Sorry but still think Craig and Harklee are the best pairing until we get someone else in. We would have been murdered by a half decent team today.

James Tarkowski -

Moment of the game with that tackle in the first half on Derbyshire but had some erratic moments hat could have been punished more by a better team, ditto HD as well to a degree.

Just don't think JT and HD are a great combination, at the moment anyway. Cam see TC getting back in or new CB.

James Tarkowski -

Maybe ask Harlee to play on the left than we can judge ?...........the best centre back since who knows when and he still gets loads of criticism............mind you it is the GPG so I guess it's normal....?

As we discussed earlier at the game that Harlee and Tarks body language towards each other during that break in play in the first half when they both came over to the bench didn't seem great. It might be nothing but get the feeling they're far from best pals.

Just because he fits the profile it doesn't mean he's our best CB.

James Tarkowski -

Erm...remind me how many goals did Rovrum score ?

Errr so you were happy with JT and HD performances out there?? It was due to the inept ability of the Rotherham strike force to put the ball in the back of the net and not our defending that kept the score level at half time. Im as pleased as punch that we kept a clean sheet but the defending was shocking in that 1st half. If we had been plying lets say Ipswich we would have been 3-0 down like we were 2 weeks ago.

James Tarkowski -

Struggled today in general but I like Tarky and prefer him to Craig

Agreed. Best Central defender since Herman. Tarky was better than last week (where he was poor) but what he is lacking is match fitness. Once he gets his match fitness levels up - we have a classy player on our hands. The guy hasn't played for 2 months in any competitive game and it will take time.

There is a very good player in there. But we need players to step up NOW. Our lack of clean sheets could come back to bite us.

It depends what your expectations are? We will pretty much be playing minimum Championship football again next year. I don't know of any Brentford fan at the start of the season saying promotion is a realistic option - this is now however a reality, if so yes then he needs to step up NOW but equally what Tarky needs is to get his fitness levels up and he can only do that by getting match time under his belt. The way we set up how we play there is always a danger we will concede. I'd rather we go for a win and three points than settle for a point.

Worst I have seen him play, not the same player from the start of the season imo. Hopefully will come back if he keeps the shirt and gets game time.

True i never expected to be any where near the PO's but we are now and have a great chance at being there abouts come May. So where as i would say lets give him the time (which he will be given by MW im sure) im also pushing towards wanting our CBs to now step up to the plate and cement our place in that top 6. Dont get me wrong they are all doing a top job but now expectations are higher and we need to keep clean sheets. JT is the better player out of the 3. But lets not all start jumping on JB and HD backs when they are in a run of poor form ............ but then all start saying when JT plays poorley that he needs to be given time. (yes i do understand he has had a long period of time out of the side so will be rusty) So on that front all of our back 4 need to be cut the same slack by some on here.

My expectations are to now finish 4th/5th and a playoff final :sorted:

Not a great game from Tarky today. Looks short on confidence (and some pace) when dealing with long balls. He's lost some of last season's 'swagger' and inclined to make poor passing judgements - how many times did he give the ball away today? Nevertheless we know he's quality. He needs a run of games preferably winning ones with clean sheets. Don't we all!

James Tarkowski -

I think both HD and JT will have good careers in the game. Both are full of potential but imo we miss the experience and organisation of Craig.

James Tarkowski -

Strangely enough - and I never though I'd say it - I think Craig brings the ball out of defence better than Tarkowski or Dean. Maybe it's just experience and he's never fancy about it but his passing forward (with the emphasis on forward) is quite accurate.

Some way to go yet before he excels Ingarmarson, Powell, Turner, Sodje at their peak but agreed potentially he can. Brave decision to stick with those 2 today to let partnership develop.

James Tarkowski -

A more assured performance. The more games he plays the better he will become. We have a player that is potentially as good if not better than Herman.

James Tarkowski -

One very poor header where he set up Mackail-Smith for a great chance but a much better game overall from Tarks

James Tarkowski -

I thought he and Dean did very well today, then I wonder if CMS is actually any good anymore and Baldock out wide is mental, they did very well but were they up against much?

How about when the lump O'grady came on?

Difficult to say, the Brighton forwards were very mobile and CMS is a a clever runner off the ball. Allowed them to get behind us too easily early on but I thought both Harlee and Tarks were much more disciplined in the second half. They'll face sterner tests but you can only play what's put in front of you TBH.

I have always rated CMS, that injury seems to have knackered him IMO, a willing runner but not the threat of before, again IMO. I felt we were so open that we weren't protecting the CBs at all on the first 20 minutes, they were getting pulled out a bit and it was easy pickings running in behind them, I did see a goal coming.
