Yeah nice one

Check out big time Brentford resting players in the cup.

Rumours circulating that Gray and Tarkowski have eloped to Las Vegas and are getting married dressed as Batman and Robin.

Can I wave a virtual yellow card here to the mods. Time this **** ****ed off.

Batman & Robin...you ain't exactly pulling it off as the joker...
...talking of pulling it off, what are your hobbies?

James Tarkowski -

wasn't the defences fault we lost but Jack didn't have his greatest game today

James Tarkowski -

Amazing isn't it. O'Connell came in when Harlee was banned and did pretty well in the 3/4 games he played and people saying he was a good enough replacement for Harlee.

Today has a poorish game along with most of the others and now he's not ready.

He's a good back-up option but I wouldn't want to rely him as a starting CB for the rest of the season.

James Tarkowski -

Spoke to Tarky before the game today, he was there with his missus to watch and said he was just having a rest. I told him he shouldn't leave unless it was for mega money. He replied that he wasn't going anywhere.

Don't believe a word?
That's what he'll tell you but he's still aiming to get out is what I here.
Let's see if he's with us on 1 Feb?
I very much doubt it.

'However, he is said to have expressed an interest in speaking with Burnley, with a view to returning to his native north west'

James Tarkowski -

We knew it would run and that they wouldn't walk away on day 2. F***** Northern Monkeys

The first dart was thrown on the opening day with pitiful bids for Judge, Tarks and Toums. We all know the negotiation, tapping up, unsettling and raising of offers will go on for the next 2-3 weeks. I would be amazed and pleased if all three were here come Feb.

James Tarkowski -

If he's keen then **** him off when the price is right, head turned...

James Tarkowski -

I wasn't that fussed about this potential move until after seeing sats game

James Tarkowski -

Keen to talk money.......shame, great player Tarky

James Tarkowski -

Can't blame him, more money and closer to family am sure most of us would do the same

James Tarkowski -

Wonderful journalism! Little old Brentford resisting an offer from big club Burnley.

James Tarkowski -

Might see him in a Brentford shirt tomorrow, but not in one on Friday, although he may be at GP WITH Burnley.

If he wants to go let him go, but for the right price.

James Tarkowski -

The pundits on Sky who think Brentford's stat approach is nonsense should look at the players we have brought in in the last couple of years. And then look at the ones who have either been sold for millions or are being chased by other clubs.Seems to me the Benham way is working.
When have we ever had so many sort after players before. Never.
Its a shame to lose them but if thats best for the long term them I'm 100% with it.

Sort of agree with you.

The idea is to make BFC sustainable. At the moment, it isn't, but with the development set up we have, it won't be far away. For years we have had clubs nick our players for a pittance. Times are changing, whether some of us like it or not.

We need to change, the days of jumpers for goal posts and players staying for 10 years are long gone and football is more than ever a business first then a sport.

Its not great to see our best players go, but they go on our terms now, with decent replacements lined up (hopefully).

Native north, expect he's missing his chips with gravy..............

IMO neither Tarks, Dean or O'connell will take us to the next level and I fully expect to see Belljend and Barbet as the centre half next season. Whether they will be good enough only time will tell. Bjellend I believe doesn't have any pace, but he will, like Tony Craig, be able to read the game better than our current regulars.

James Tarkowski -

We may have to start from scratch in central defence as Harlee has said he is leaving,Tarky looks like going and Bjellend may not recover from his injury. We need to plan now for next season on the defensive front.

James Tarkowski -

I doubt we'll see him in red and white again, a la Toums, and sadly Jota - different circumstances though.

Sort out a fee ASAP and let him move on. No point in dragging our heels.

Hate the situation, but that's our problem, a small club in a bigger division.

We move on and find another gem.

James Tarkowski -

Plan for next t season then everyone goes in January again

I said in the summer that we may have get rid of the team of last season, too much baggage around and divided loyalties, it might be easier after this has happened.

We need to plan for the next 20 or so matches, get to 50 points asap and then also start planning for next season.

:imwith:

I'm actually embracing the changes ahead, I think the squad needs a shake up, it is running out of juice as it stands.

I said that somewhere and got slaughtered for it!

It never does to get to attached to individusl players. It isn't about players exactly. It's about Brentford FC and what's best for the future of the club. Players and agents have a lot of clout it is true but the most important consideration is what is best for the club.

Funnily enough I was thinking the same over the weekend. I think the 'old guard' still have issues with Warbgate and probably haven't fully accepted/adjusted to the change in club structure. I have nothing to base this on other than gut feeling but I do get the impression that Rasmus, in particular, is seen as a bit of a 'villain' and 'joke' character by the old guard and this cannot be healthy.

Big overhaul coming up but hopefully with the monies we will receive for the 'likely' outgoing players plus, the relaxation to FFP going forwards, the squad can begin to settle down and we won't see quite the disruption we've seen in the summer, and potentially this January, in the future.

Absolutely. Your statement rings true for all clubs and all companies for that matter. If JT goes I'll be disappointed but life and BFC goes on

James Tarkowski -

I keep hearing that Judge is settled, I really hope so as IMO he is the hard one to replace, I'm a big fan or Tarks and Toums but reckon we'll do alright in getting someone to fill their shoes, it's a massive shame that JOC fluffed his lines at the weekend and made JT look like Superman, throw in Josh's no show and Toums is a diamond too, finding another Judge will take some doing, I hope to keep hearing that he's a happy bunny.

Yoann Barbet didn't do much wrong in his few appearances.

Confess I haven't seen Barbet in a competitive game but in the pre-season friendly at Norwich he was awful. Grabban murdered him in all departments, nouse, skill, speed and - surprisingly given the disparity in their sizes - strength. I like O'Connell as he looks like a 'footballer' not just a centre back.

James Tarkowski -

I agree with those who rate Barbet - I saw him at the game against Preston and I think he did a really good job. I've always thought it was a little harsh that he's not had a look-in since then, I'd rate him over O'Connell personally.

Yep deep down this was always going to happen/needed. As you said loyalties and others not liking change. Anyone who doesn't want to be apart of this can go.

James Tarkowski -

I think that this has a while to run yet.

We aren't going to pay £5 million, so it's going to take some negotiating is this one.

Why?

If the price is as quoted pay up or walk away. If you went into a car showroom and saw a car you wanted at twice the price you can afford as much as you like it I doubt the price would change to your liking

To the best of my knowledge we stuck to our guns with Andre Gray so why should this be any different?

Piss or get off the pot

If we are using the car showroom analogy then........

If I went into a car showroom and said... look I'll give you £2,500 now, another £2,500 if it clocks up 100,000 miles, another £2,500 if someone in Madrid wants to buy it and another £2,500 if Roy Hodgson has a drive in it.... then I would be laughed out of the place.

And that's why analogies of football transfers are silly.

Can we please not start this argument again? I think you've made your opinion clear now.

I agree. Tarks is not the finished article and has lapses of concentration and we can find better so if he wants to go- get £3m(escape clause figure) and cheerio. We should get a big experienced and older centre back on loan to the end of the season and let Barbet, Dean and O Connell fight it out for the remaining spot. Barbet and O C need to improve.
