Yes. He's come on superbly since getting a run in the side after Dickov was binned.

Instinctively I think he should be playing for a team like QPR, WBA - hovering between top half of the Chamionship or surviving in the Premiership.

Hopefully he's paid for some bricks to come out of the ground for our new stand. Getting a bit bored of seeing the car park on matchdays.

You filthy little s***, I liked you up until now. You read the rules of conduct you don't post anything about QPR unless derogatory. Now apologise and think before you post again. lol

Did I mention some small team with a Q? I meant to say Derby.

James Tarkowski -

I once saw a then Premiership team with a Q in their name lose to Stockport in the FA Cup.

Do I get bonus points?

James Tarkowski -

Yes and more if against Vauxhall motors in FA cup

Never seen them play. I did once share a dinner table with the chairman of Marine. Not quite the same!

James Tarkowski -

They did say when they signed him that they thought he is the best cb in league 1 :)

James Tarkowski -

If we go up I would say that we will see less of Harlee next season. There is no way I would drop TC for Harlee.

You're not the Manager though. You may be right re Harlee but I don't think TC is seen as Championship class regardless of how well he has done this season.

How do you know I'm not the manager...lol

You may well be right, but do you know that TC is not seen as championship class by the management? My own opinion is that TC is more reliable than HD; I also think that, generally speaking, TC is underated by a number of fans whilst the opposite is true of Harlee. Just my opinion though...

I share your opinion that of late TC has been more reliable than Harlee. Harlee is highly rated, big, strong and still learning with potential to play at a higher level if he continues to develop and erase silly errors.
TC has been excellent for us but he isn't the future and will I believe struggle against quicker, smarter, better forwards in the Championship and if they're also bigger I fear he'd be found out at centre back. Positional sense won't be enough but I hope I'm wrong.

sonof, agree re Harlee (especially if he cuts out the silly errors which SHOULD happen as he matures) but hope you're wrong about TC! TC has played at the higher level with Millwall & he's stilla popular man down there so I'm thinking/hoping he must have been reasonably effective for then at Championship level...

Ask why was he allowed to leave them if he was that effective and highly rated at Millwall?
Fans loved him because he was committed and one of them but don't recall any outrage that he was released.
Don't get me wrong I really rate TC but not sure how he'll cope as a relatively small, not very quick, centre back at a much higher standard than he's been used too last two seasons.

The same ilk as say Tony Adam, plays with his heart. Reads the game well which makes up for the speed, just lacking a few inches. If he had the height it would composite some, for the lack of speed, having said that if he was taller he would not be playing for Brentford now, he would have stayed in the Championship.

Give us a clue, what is your point?

James Tarkowski -

He lacks pace, he lacks height, but makes up a lot of this with commitment at his current level. This will not be enough if we go up. Apologies if I was not clear.

Thanks, I didn't quite get the Tony Adams bit as he played all his career at the top level but seems we agree.

My point ( not clear ) was that if Tony Adams was the same height as TC I doubt he would have made the top flight.

A little unkind, I think.

His positioning is brilliant. His touch has, at times this season, been sublime. His passing, especially from the left to right side (usually Donaldson) is excellent.

Commitment is a bare minimum from all players, as far as I'm concerned.

Saying that, I do believe that the club would look to 'upgrade' were we to reach the Championship.

Yea a little hard, I did miss out the positioning which I except is good but as others have eluded to, with a better quality striker playing against him ?

As to upgrade I think we have already started.

While we are on it I also think this is the reason we have not had another striker in. If the player Breadman wants is not available then he will wait. He will only take in players that will improve on what we have already as I think the name of this thread is starting to show just after two games.

Some players can step up, others will be great at their level.

Think you hit it on the head re. Millwall. Fans there loved him but also knew the step up may have been difficult for him - TC has been our most consistent player this year IMO but probably just lacks that Championship level class.

I firmly believe Tarky signed for us with the Championship in mind ...

TC has been immense this season and at times his contribution has been underrated by fans as it lacks the flair of others

Should we get to the promised land I would expect him to start the season and slowly give way to the preferred partnership of Harlee and Tarkowski, I beleive it will be on the basis that it is his position to lose and to keep the pressure on the others, it will also give us the option to play with wing backs

Always been a big fan of TC, for his leadership and consistency, as well as defensive abilities. Not going to write him off for the championship. No idea why it didn't work out at Millwall, but maybe it was just circumstantial, and he'll do much better with us. He's also older and wiser. Tarkowski and Dean would worry me due to lack of experience and leadership.

I think his 1 on 5 defence (I forget against whom) was my favourite non goal related moment of the season to date :)

It was against Oldham. My favourite moment of the season. Just brilliant. Well done again TC.

James Tarkowski -

Millwall fans I know did not want TC to leave and were surprised he was let go. I think it might have been a mistake by Jackett in hindsight.

Tarkowski was good on Saturday but, in spite of some of the comments on here, I wasn't convinced he was as dominant defensively as HD has been so not sure he will keep HD on the bench. He was hardly troubled by a reticent Bradford attack.

I'd have to disagree with you. Defending is massively dependent on using your intelligence. Always anticipating what's going to happen, tracking runners, looking over your shoulder to pick up any unmarked players, no ball watching, knowing when to hit the percentage ball, good distribution and not error prone. If you add pace , physical strength and good in the air then you've probably got all the main tick boxes. IMO ,Tony Craig ticks all of those except pace and dominance in the air [ he's Ok though ] whereas , how can I put it, Dean has a lot to learn by comparison.;)

We need to see a bit more of Tarky but so far [ based on one game that I have seen :)] IMO he is the dogs bo**ox. Superb and I don't know how we managed to get him.

James Tarkowski -

Quality start to his Bees career. Isn't it great to be a Brentford fan right now?

Just think, but for an accident of geography we could be following QPR and moaning about adding yet another expensive has-been to a bloated debt ridden side.

Instead we sign young hungry quality players capable of making the step up. Fantastic, it really is.

No argument Harlee is still learning but he has the potential as well as physical presence so we'll see if he is able to develop into a player capable of Championship level. TC has been there and was released and as you say is at a disadvantage physically. Do I think he could play there and be as effective as he is at this level and can he improve further ? - I'm not so sure, I hope so but I think Jackett is a pretty good judge and he doesn't make too many mistakes. He upset fans at the time by releasing Gary Alexander but he never recaptured the form he showed for them and before anyone posts Lewis Grabban, KJ conceded he knew he was a very good footballer but felt he'd done all he could and believed a move a way would benefit the player.

I think at the mo, that I can't see Tarky and Dean making an effective partnership so for me TC is in the frame. Warbs has an issue when Dean is fit but I can't see Tarky being displaced. His footballing out from the back is superb and gives us another defensive mid in the mix. However, as I've said, I've only seen one game so reserve the right to eat my hat but hopefully not.

Yes I would agree, however never underestimate the power of competition for places. Hopefully Dean will come back better. A great dilemma for Warbs.

James Tarkowski -

It just proves that for every established player, including fans' favourites, there is a better one out there. The management challenge is affordability. We've gone to great lengths to sign JT following his performance against us; the tenacity of our backroom team (and our playing budget) deserves praise.

James Tarkowski -

You have to say Tarky has come into the side and taken his chance, for me he starts alongside TC until form or injury dictates otherwise. There are a few comments on here about TC not being quite good enough for the Championship hence Millwall realeasing him etc. The one thing I would chuck into the mix for people to consider is that I bet TC is a better player now than when Millwall released him, he is certainly much more comfortable on the ball as we have seen this season.

:sorted: I don't think we disagree on anything - this season it's TC and A N other for me as he's been excellent and we play better when he's in the centre of defence. I'd be inclined to leave Harlee on the bench after watching James on Saturday as his distribution was exceptionally good for a big centre back. We'll only be able to judge how good he is when he's asked to defend against better forwards in a stronger team but the initial signs are very encouraging.

I'm not advocating dropping TC, just believe that he was bought to do a very important job and add much needed leadership, experience and communication to a very young side with the goal of getting us up out of this league. Once achieved, I'm not sure how crucial he'll be to future plans if Dean and Tarkowski continue to develop and improve but we'll see. I have nothing but the greatest respect for TC, he's been inspirational character this season and a colossus at the back who will be a strong contender for POTY.
I reckon he'll also rightly be accredited legendary status as Captain of the team that takes us back to the Championship.

James Tarkowski -

I liked the way he won headers without being a towering header of a ball, he won tackles without appearing to be a biter and he laid easy ball off without any demons in his mind doing what they do to CBs when they are about to pass. He strolled through it, Bradford were crap and it will be interesting to see what happens when he has a handful to mark and defend against but how could you not like what you saw?

James Tarkowski -

The most important benefit of JT's arrival is that Harlee can now get himself fully fit and recover properly and not be rushed back earlier than he should be.

I can't recall seeing much of TC when he played for Milwall but I suspect that you are correct as his distribution has definitely improved in the time we have had him. Nice problem for Warbs to have and so important for us that we have a solid base and hopefully add to the last two clean sheets during the run in.

I think that your hat is safe. If anything Tarkowski was even better up at Carlisle when on several occasions he really drove us forward with some strong and elegant runs through midfield. The one caveat is that we haven't yet seen him tested by an onslaught from the division's better attacks.

Not that long ago that Arron McLean was one of the division's "better attackers"...............he didn't get a sniff on Saturday ?
