Jay Tabb is just someone who is loved at the club for what he did in a relatively short space of time.

a legend is someone who scores most goals in a season, scores a winning goal in a final etc etc I doubt KOC ever wanted to leave us.. as for Tabb turning down offers he still left us on good terms..

Was a cracking player for us and that's how I'll remember Jay Tabb.

Legends are Steve Phillips Andy Mculloch Gary Blissett Terry Evans Ken Coote Jackie Graham Peter Gelson Bill Dodgin and many of us supporters who have followed this club through thick and thin are legends in my eyes.Its not just players my friends its all of us.

There's more I know but that will do for now.Jay Tabb is still playing so reserve the legendary status till later.

I have a signed picture of him on my wall which my late aunt got for my 16th Birthday (along with one of Deano). That 91/92 side got us to the dizzy heights of the First Div (now known as The Championship), albeit for just one season....but they are ALL legends in my eyes. :yes:

Would just like to add that he played at Anfield in '89 in our FA Cup Run to Round 6 (Quarters) so if anyone wants to say he's not a legend, you'll have to give good reasons.

In the top 3 best players I have seen in 28 years at Griffin Park. Wingers with end products are few and far between...definate legend for me.

Correct, MA had agreed a deal with him for a few hundred quid more and as far as he was concerned it was a done deal, one person pulled the plug on it at the club and the rest is history. Obviously I wasn't there but I was told this by someone heavily involved in it all.

Neil Smilie was an out and out winger ..one of my fav bees players of all time he is def a legend in my eyes anyway...but like someone else already said the whole 91/92 team that got us promoted are legends IMO

Posted yesterday that the same 4 you've quoted in midfield would be too small to be successful in this league over 46 games- Physically lacking in strength and would get outjumped and outmuscled - would suggest it's why we've got Adyemi and Keirnan on board.

Rate both players but the blend I feel would be wrong with three shortarses alongside Dougie. He pulls the strings and sets the tempo but isn't an up and at 'em ball winner or a real physical presence.
Tabby is strong and battles and he's a very good little'un who over time will usually get beaten by a very good biggun. If we had endless budget I'd have him back and we'd have more options but I can think of other areas where the money would be better spent given we've dominated most games in midfield bar those I listed last night in a seperate post.

The club were not in a position, at the time, to offer more money. What was a decent wage back in 2006? What were other players earning? In the end, That's why he, MA and Brentford decided to part company. The next season was our worst ever.

He's not a Premiership player, that's for sure. He played his best football at Coventry in the Championship, he'll drop down and kick on again.

I don't know whether you have seen him play for Reading but he is a different player to the one who left us - certainly doesn't have the pace to play wide these days. Would be a holding midfielder for us and I'd rather spend good money elsewhere.

I said 'way down' not 'way out' so get your facts right before you accuse me of talking nonsense. Also tabb has played in the premiership and championship since leaving us I don't think he'll play premiership again so it's championship or down for him. Douglas played 2 seasons in the championship with Leeds then 2 more in league one before going to swindon for 2 more seasons in league one, so I would say your right, although not on an upward trajectory he was at the time we signed him a strong league one midfielder with the ability to play at championship level.

Jay was a super footballer with a great attitude who everyone knew would go onto play at a higher level. If honest I think the Premiership is probably a bit beyond him as he isn't a special player but I'd reckon certainly decent enough to hold down a regular place in a Championship side.
I think we have a midfield strong enough to more than compete with most in this league and given how Uwe hasn't got an infinite budget, if honest I'd rather see any funds generated spent in other areas first. Key for me is another option of a speedy forward up front and additional competition/support for TC and Harlee. If we secure one of each and still have money to spend than I'd be more than happy to see Tabby back if it suited all parties but reckon it's a bit too early for him to return to league 1 when he's only just got into the Premiership.
