Can anyone explain why and how Clubs are able to use the term 'undisclosed fee' when signing a player. It seems pointless and gives me the impression that there is something underhand taking place.

I believe that BFC will get to know anyway as they will get 10%.....

Jay Tabb

But, considering the fact that we are well over halfway through the season, this offer was too good to turn down for the club.

From the CCFC site. Not really sure what almost out of contract players go for. There were other clubs interested, so I'd imagine something around the £350K mark.

i bet that will be 'undisclosed' too!

come on 'abee', let us into the secret!, you're just a 'supporter' on here!

If one of the clubs requests 'undisclosed' then that's the way it is presented. My own limited experiences at League Two level have been that few transfers are for a straightforward one-off payment fee. For example I could give you six different numbers for the Connell to Bournemouth transfer and they'd all be right. The Tabb fee is possibly a basic payment upon signing plus add-ons i.e. :

£250k now
£100k if Reading promoted and Tabb starts ten matches
£100k if Reading promoted and Tabb scores five goals
£100k full international cap

In the above example (and I have no knowledge yet of the detail) it could be argued that the fee is £550k but Coventry wouldn't want that public 'cos their fans may think that they've immediately received that money to chuck around and of course they haven't.

All I know is that QPR offered £12million but Tabby turned down the move 'cos he didn't want to upset his mates on the GPG.

:(

Jay Tabb

Would we get 10% of any add-ons?

A man of his word. If only there were more like that in football

He actually said to Bee H this afternoon.....'I know that my signng for QPR would be worth £1.2m for Brentford but I gave my word and that's the end of it. Now will you please stop sobbing, get up off your knees and quit offering to drive me to Loftus Road and make it right with the GPG lads......and no I do not need a blow job

Jay Tabb

Good move Jay, still my favourite ever player.

Excellent, Reading must have come up with a similar valuation then :D

Total deal around £750k so Im told, GREAT move for the one and only TABBY and hopefully a few pennies towards Dean coming to GP:fishing:
See you at Mad Stad (when Bees are away) Tabby:sorted:

Jay Tabb

abee, how were we able to negotiate a sell-on clause with Coventry when Tabby was out of contract?

Just wondered like.

Jay Tabb

He was under 24

inches or cm's:D

Long live the legend

B&stard just beat me on FIFA09 as my son just signed him from Coventry, Bees lost 4-3 to Reading in extra time:sad:

...................Top Man.....................good luck.........................

Jay Tabb

Really pleased for him, hopefully any proceeds can go in the bennett/bowditch fund!

Jay Tabb

Hopefully, he should be a regular fixture in the side...unless Wally Downes has anything to do with it.

Good luck Tabby. His talents have been deserving of top flight football for a long time now. :sorted:

Jay Tabb

Nice one. I don't really hold any grudges with Reading as they are basically the Brentford B team and have been very good to us in recent years. Thank gawd he didn't go to the scum up the road.

Good career move and I wish him all the best at Reading under Mr Coppell. Hope to see him playing in the Premier League next year and putting 3 past Fulham :sorted:

Thats the figure I heard being quoted as well. :sorted: Percentage would help the promotion push but I guess it will go to easing the club debt. :(

Also if JT can't get into the squad at Reading we can always have him back on loan. :sorted:

Does he still live local?

Yes, Reading are very good to us and their manager is a top bloke. Good luck to Tabb with them.

On 'the scum' they, too, have lent us players. And we haven't met them on the field for years and years and years and they are poles apart from us these days!

Real local rivals - Glasgow and Celtic / Arsenal and Spurs / Everton and Liverpool - all meet at least twice a season. We are two divisions away from 'the scum'. Our real rivals this century are the likes of Wycombe, Gillingham, Barnet and Aldershot.

Not many. Any? Can't recall - do you have a list? We've played league matches against them in the recent past haven't we?

Jay Tabb

I ****ing hate Reading.

Six or so years on, we have Bennett & Hamer on LOAN in League Two. Reading have had a spell (probably another one next year) in the Premier League with Ingimarsson, Sonko, Sodje, Hunt, Sidwell, Tabb, Coppell, Downes, not to mention the several players prior to the Premier League like Owusu, Asaba, etc........

And we have nothing to show for it!

Why is it only me who hates Reading's guts?

Jay Tabb

Good luck Tabby, well done sir

I am right with you mate, Reading are sucm. They have raped Brentford for years, paying crap money. Good luck Tabby, my fav player of all time.

irrational !!!

Ingimarsson went to Reading via Wolves and Brighton
Coppell came to Reading from Brighton too
Sidwell was never owned by Brentford....
Downes wasnt exactly popular with the Brentford faithful when he departed

I'd say the connection with most of these players is Coppell, not Brentford :sorted:

I, for one, am very happy with the Reading player's contribution this season
(Hamer, Bennett and Andersen)...Thank you Reading :sorted:

Your finest post Smiffy. I am bowing at the computer as I type, which is difficult to do....

We all look at Reading with a sense of envy and think that if that last match of the season in 2002 had gone a bit differently that it could have been us.....

But that's life and Noades was ready to decimate us anyway so who knows.

I take pleasure in the success of Ingimarsson, Hunt and Tabb and am pleased that they are with a club that is run well and looks after their players properly.

I am just disappointed that we never profited from the departures of Hunt, Ivar and Sonko too but that was more down to us.

Reading have been fantastic to us in terms of loans and I am sure paying large parts of the players' salaries too and we can ask no more from them.

Fulham too helped us out last season with Milson and Brown - as for QPR the only loanees I can remember were Gary Cooper, Les Ferdinand, Steve Burke and Dennis Bailey, all a long long time ago.

Absolutely 100% correct. These past two years or so Reading have been very good to BFC and whilst they are flying high I hope it continues. They are one of the few clubs in football that I have any time for. Great owner, great manager and coach and I wish them every success.

As for Jay Tabb I think it's a very good move for him and hopefully we will benefit financially from it. Hope to see him in the premiership next season.

Utter drivel, your rivals are your rivals whatever division and whenever you play them.

Preston- Blackpool
Stoke- Vale
Exeter-Plymouth
Burnley- Blackburn
Cardiff - Swansea
Bristol City - Rovers

etc etc

Only Aldershot on your list mean anything to me and that only a fraction.

Without a squad half full Brentford players, Reading would not be in the Premier/Championship yo-yo :sorted:

Sorry, but no matter how "kind" Reading have been to us, they have benefited far more from our personnel than we have from theirs...

Excellent move for Tabbie.

Down side for CCFC of course is he is the only one who knows the way to Loftus Road from Hangar Lane by tube:)

I wonder if we could have given up our sell on for a % of the future sell on?
That would be nice.

Spot on I worked with a Burnley supporter when they were near the foot of the 4th division and his hatred for Blackburn who were then Div 2 was the worst I have ever witnessed from any rivalry. :sorted:
