Won't do him any harm to be reminded about the realities of life and that talent on its own is not enough to guarantee top level success.

He was a luxury player but along with Dickson he provided us with a level of skill that gave us time and space in opponents' halves.

He scored 2 and made a few too. For a 17 year old I thought he did brilliantly.

He benefited, we did too and maybe he has also learned a life lesson too.

Assuming he does then his future is assured.

have to agree that for a 17 year old he did enough. think everyone got a bit carried away after his two goal opener.

we've had loanees do far better and far worse. and sometimes the same loanee has done far better and far worse.

He is an 18 year old with a serious natural ability. He played well for us and gave us a huge amount going forward, but maybe could have given us a little more going back.

Don't forget his age and that he is learning with every game he plays, have a look around how many other 18 year olds are playing at this level with his ability..... or 25 year olds for that matter, very few!!

Sorry to see him leave, obviously the bad state of the pitch never helped but there is better/cheaper players available in League One! :)!

Talk Sport were going on about him today.His dad was on and said he couldnt understand why he didnt stay with us as he wanted to.He said Rednap ( sp?)was talking b***ocks as hes a grafter with good attitude.Mickey Hazard came on,he was his coach at Palace.At 13 John played for the under 16's in central midfield and ran the show.He too said you couldnt wish for a nicer,hard working kid.To play him on the wing especailly the left was a complete waste of his gifted talents and hes a play maker of the highest order.I think we've ****ed up big time here by playing him out of position and then sending him back early.

We'd have ****ed up playing him in centre mid in L1 where you need to be able to fight to get the ball. I'd like to have seen him longer but we work best when we're playing a high tempo game and thats the opposite to the way he plays. I wish him well

was it AS's idea to play a left footed player right mid? possibly considering Sam Wood is currently in that position :rolleyes: IMO Harry possibly gave instructions on how to play Bostock, i'll probably get told what utter bollox, but it's my opinion. :D

I think your talking bollox Paul. :) If we loan a player it's to do a job for us primarily not to help a bigger club with their kids. If it isn't working out then don't extend the loan like here

thanks :D i did say i was :wave: but it's just an opinion, considering Bostock plays centre midfield, but then look at Wood now. AS has his game plan. :sorted:

I think Wood on the right is the revised version of the 1 upfront, designed to make us harder to beat but keeping something up top. We have an easier run of games coming up and I think we'll see Saunders start there soon

Bostock did well for us. He has bundles of skill, but he was never a grafter, something you have too be at all levels of modern day football. Bostock was quoted as saying he would like to give us one more month then try his luck in the championship' I wonder if Scott did not like that. Although I liked Bostock, at this moment in time,I do not think he is good enough at that level

I think that a loan is to help out both clubs, as well as the player.

If a player can't get a game at a higher level it will help him as well as his club if he can get a game somewhere else as the experience of playing in frmt of decent crowds, rather than the one man and his dog at the reserves.

Great skill but faded out of the game for long periods. Can't afford that this season, only the strong survive.

He may have had his faults but I for one will miss seeing him at GP. The drag back and turn on the New Road touchline v Carlisle will stay with me all season. Easy to be cynical but whatever we say about his consistency, he is a few steps above the norm that we usually see at our level. Good luck to him.

I went on air (Talksport) myself on Tuesday evening to defend him speaking with Numpty Durham and Ray Parlour. His Dad rang in shortly afterwards hence the paper article about it also his coach at CP Micky Hazard called in.

Strange when the vibes that we were told coming out of Spurs was that they wanted him to go to championship team but after reading what Harry has said that didn't seem to be a problem if we wanted him to stay for a longer spell.

BFC on the other hand were telling us that we were trying to extended his loan but Spurs were not keen?..........:fishing:

Your occasional swipes at the club are mildly amusing to some perhaps but when the club announces that a player is signed on loan and gives the term of the loan I would have thought that most interested supporters aged over five could work out without GPG Towers prompting that if the expiry date passes then.... erm........the loan has finished. I'm sorry that we didn't advise you of the blindingly obvious and to make amends and for another sensational exclusive for the GPG the club is expecting an electricity bill next week. We'll tell you if it doesn't arrive and you'll be the first with the story. I should also have let you know that the January wages were paid on time and I'm also sorry that we failed to advise supporters that we haven't gone into administration.

Supporters must be increasingly concerned about the situation at Griffin Park. Not one director has stated definitively that the club did not go into administration yesterday and we at GPG Towers believe that the supporters have a right to read it here first. Should we be worried and do you all agree that we have a right to know. We believe that the club should publish hourly updates and continue to keep posting the Bostock has gone back to Tottenham story disgracefully tucked away on the erm.......official website.......until there is another story that we can headline. We at GPG Towers believe that the supporters have a right to better than this and furthermore.......(continues until the next sensational headline)

Hopefully the elec bill will be lower due to the postponed matches, however, I hope we have budgeted for an uplift next quarter as we will have more mid week games that will require the use of floodlights.:sorted:

I listened to the talksport thing and was a bit annoyed how it almost become a pop at Brentford.
Redknapp made a comment about Bostock's attitude, of which Scott hadn't criticised at all.
Then Bostock's dad comes on, then Micky Hazard comes on, both singing his praises and all of a sudden you've got Ray Parlour and Durham saying that Brentford didn't know what they were doing with him and he should've been playing in centre mid.

Neither of these fellas saw him play for us, have heard the hype and thought that he should have found league 1 a piece of p*ss.

I thought Bostock seemed to conduct himself well whilst playing here, but it would've worried me having him in the centre of the park as a young lad getting bullied by the likes of Tommy Doherty.

I would've liked to have kept Bostock as he showed flashes of greatness, but he's still learning and developing as a player/person and for his no doubt expensive wage, we couldn't afford to pay for a 1 in 2 player.

Fair play to Andy Scott for again making a hard call.

They don't bother me and I thought I'd just slap 'We' at GPG Towers around for a little light exercise before lunch.

I thought that Les was one of 'the great and the good' at GPG Towers. That august body puts up a headline and tells us that 'We' (GPG Towers) will let the supporters know if the club ever gets around to confirming that Bostock has gone back to Tottenham.......it had been done but clearly not to 'We' at GPG Towers satisfaction. But moving smoothly on Les is asking me who 'We' at GPG Towers are. I always assumed that they were Jim's brothers but now I'm not so sure. What a way to run an unofficial supporters website....:confused:

That's because it's talksport, they don't do any research just get Adrian Durham et al to think of the most ridiculous thing to get people wound up and call their premium rate number.

He would have got battered if he was played in the centre imo, it may have been worth a try but I expect Scott was told not to play him there (which isn't unreasonable) but I'm sure these experts know alot more about Bostock's time at Brentford than Andy Scott and the fans who were at the games do.

Suggestions such as this have cropped up a few times - I would suggest they are well wide of the mark.

I can't see a scenario where a manager send a player out on loan and instructs what can and can't be done with him, there may be conversations but I don't think Redknapp would have told Scott where and how often Bostock could or couldn't play.

Throughout the last 18 months of his management, Scott has wanted to play two combative central midfield players - it's happened in just about every match.

We weren't competitive enough when Bostock arrived for him to play there and the subsequent improvement in the form on Bean and O'Connor, plus some good turns from Hunt, means we haven't needed to try something else.

Even his dad said that he was well treated at BFC and he enjoyed his time with us in his conversation with Numpty. He didn't complain at all about where John was being played whilst with us. They asked him what was his best position was and he said centre midfield. This is where these two then go on about who we have midfield. I tired to get through again but they wouldn't put me through as I'd already been on......to put them straight

The only thing his dad mentioned was that he was surprised he wasn't staying longer with us, he had no dig at BFC for their role.

Its the usual thing with Talksport.............stirring the s**t to make a programme and money. Don't forget a few months ago according to Numpty he said we were cheating because he scored 2 goals against Millwall as a loanee a fact I would have pointed out to Durham had I got through!

The argument here is between his dad and Harry over his progress.

Having spoken to JB a couple times in the car park, he's a very nice chap and not at all big headed. I for one hope he gets to were he wants to in football.

I would like to have seen John play at CM, but with no reserve games for months , we couldnt even try him there,maybe AS didnt want to gamble, with MB and KO play pretty well, but i always thought with his very good close control he would make that little bit extra time to pick out the perfect passes to the forwards

a class act, as NB has said previously, it's a shame he can't come back for the march/april/may matches when the pitches get a bit firmer and the weather perks up a bit. Good luck to him too.

We at 'abee' will be making no further comment on the GPG Towers comment regarding the lack of comment on the official website (other than the statement saying that Bostock has gone back to Tottenham) on the subject of John Bostock and comments from GPG Towers asking me to comment further will not be acknowledged. This is my final comment on the GPG Towers comment. :)
