Apparently there is a Chinese equivalent of choc ice. They use the term bananaman

Racism is racism i'm afraid, we can't pick and choose what bits we like to keep...

I personally thought the whole JT thing was a waste of time and didn't need as much attention as it got...BUT now the precedence has been set so Rio (or the person who said the original tweet) needs to go through the same process as JT :banghead:

Choc ice /coconut/uncle tom / bounty bar are racist terms, if anything it says being white is a bad thing and Black people should stick to their own kind regardless of who is right or wrong... ;)

This Guardian article explains it better than i do:

Among black people there is a widely held notion that there should be some sort of racial solidarity. Black people should stick together in all things against the "white" establishment. Words such as coconut are used to remind the "brothers" where their loyalties should lie.

It's not a bad thing to remain true to your origins whatever they are. It is a bad thing that we should be scared of expressing such views and discussion of them. The police might be scanning this site as we blog. Good job I'm not in England. (Can I say England?)

I haven't actually got round to watching that documentary, in fact I've actively avoided it as i was thinking it was going to be the usual clichéd "why aren't there more "ethnic" managers/players/fans etc in the game" prograamme.

Think I might check iPlayer over the weekend. :sorted:

it is a bit like that, some of the stuff on there in my mind was just total bollox as I cannot believe a club like BFC for example would not offer a trial to the captain of the local county side or the top goalscorer with 84 goals in a season just because he is asian.

John Barnes was on there aswell but in my mind the reason he isn't a manager is because he is no good at the job not because he is black and only 3 managers out of 92 pro clubs are black but as a proportion of the whole population maybe thats about right.

I have never ever heard a racist word uttered at GP

John Terry

If John Barnes is complaining about lack of management opportunities he should look first at his spell at Celtic and then remember his Tranmere comedy double act with Dr. Jason McAteer phD.

John Terry

he didn't the comment, someone else did - he just responded to it:nono:

He repeated the comment and as he said it was the context in which he tweeted it....exactly the same argument of course that Terry made in court:confused:

Ferdinand's comment - an endorsement of the original tweet - only makes any sense in a racial context. His pathetic justification only confirms that the comment was rascist - it's less of a defence than Terry's unlikely ' only repeating what Anton said' justification.

I think he said, I here you bro - to that comment.. Police said they were interested only in who posted it..

John Terry

also shows why england were a shambles at the last wc and why hodgson left rio out of this squad.

I think that Ferdinand's comment was a serious error of judgement; however, I fail to see how it has anything to do with the way England performed at the last World Cup and why Hodgson left Rio out of the squad

John Terry charged by the FA over Anton Ferdinand clash

Chelsea captain John Terry has been charged by the Football Association after last season's incident with QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.
Terry, 31, is alleged to have used "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour" during the Premier League game on 23 October.
The FA statement continues: "It is further alleged that this included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Ferdinand."
Terry has until 3 August to respond
ffs they let him go to the Euro's now this...

John Terry

retired from international footy... pushed?:fishing:

John Terry

possibly............................

the charges against him more likely the reason.... I mean, he was tried in court and found not guilty. He seems to be charged 'twice' for the same offence.

John Terry

Good riddance to a horrible selfish **** who thought being England captain meant it acceptable to flog things. Never mind the numerous other issues. A cracking example of why Essex should be cut off from England and floated away somewhere toxic.

John Terry

I actually feel a bit sorry for him as this seems to have turned into a witchunt, he was found not guilty and that should have been the end of the matter and we have lost our best current centreback now

John Terry

Never liked him but equally never thought he let England down. Guess he has more time now to spend with his teammates wives ....

John Terry

He must know the charges against him are going to result in a guilty verdict already

John Terry

Selling the complimentary box provided whilst captain of us counts as 'letting' down to me

John Terry

Check the papers, wasn't it yet another NotW exclusive. Perhaps the other issues with his personal life will get the full disclosure treatment lol

so it 4K a match whilst he was captain, whilst he was getting £170,000 a week..

John Terry

The fa didn't handle the situation well so I can understand his frustration. However, I think this has more to do with him no longer being guaranteed a place in the side, we are pretty well covered in center back positions with Lescott, Jagielka and Cahill plus good youngsters like Jones, Smalling and Sh across also coming through. Would be rather ironic if Rio got a recall now. . .

John Terry

Good. Only Cole, Lampard and Rooney to go.

When the England team isn't full of arseholes I may actually support them.

You have to wonder why he would need such a small amount relative to his weekly wage eh

He has remortgaged his property at least four times since it was purchased (publicly available info)

In other news, that England player who gambles badly has never been named.

John Terry

Do Chelsea hand out receipts for their training ground tours these days?

Nowt wrong with Essex.

Agreed. Notwithstanding the sort of person Terry is, I can't see how the FA can justify pursuing something that a Court of Law has already found him not guilty of.

John Terry

Different criteria being applied by FA. The truth is out there for those seeking it.

John Terry

I am referring to the fact they don't like each other which is fairly evident and the disharmony in the squad caused by the fractious groups of senior players. (Sorry, I thought it was fairly obvious)

John Terry

Good riddance, now it's time to get rid of the rest of the Golden Generation and their so called valuable "experience". England would be better off going into a major tournament with a bit of youth and naivety, rather a load of knackered out old donkeys.

John Terry

Have heard from locals that he wanders around supermarkets helping himself, and that security guards are all scrambled when he walks in. Evidently he thinks he is untouchable. Have also heard of local tradesmen being "knocked" after doing work for him. A good Premiership centre back who wouldn't make it into many other top international sides. Ta ta. Won't be missed.

John Terry

I actually feel a bit sorry for him as this seems to have turned into a witchunt, he was found not guilty and that should have been the end of the matter and we have lost our best current centreback now

What? The charges are different, check the facts, I hope the FA ban him for 10 games. He admitted using the words but the court cannot say how he said them..... Jokingly or as an insult.....

No way is he England's best current centre back!! I'd put Cahill and Jagielka above that to$$er.

John Terry

Blessing in disguise this. Puts to bed (pun excused) the Terry-Ferdinand row so we will hopefully never see both of them near the England starting XI again.

Hodgson can now focus on the future, blooding new youngsters to be ready for Rio (the Brazilian one) in two years time.

John Terry

Hmm, oh well. Maybe he'll have time to write that long awaited autobiography, 'John Terry - Why I'm Suchacunt'.

John Terry

Since he let that snake shop down :nono: Laters

Why don't you add Gerrard to make a quartet if you are including Lampard?
