Its been just over a week since i sent my BU application in. Im i now a Bees United member or will i recieve an email/letter of confirmation? This is the first time i have joined Bees United so im not sure what to expect but i am very much looking forward to being part of the gang. Apologies for not replying sooner and thanks to 'nana for drawing this thread to my attention.

The Bees United membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June and so we normally process memberships during the close season. Membership cards are normally sent out in September, but in truth it makes little difference. As long as your have paid to join then you are a member with full member entitlements (whatever they may be).

We will normally send out welcoming letters – if you have joined recently and not received this, could you please email or PM me with your details and I will look into this for you.

We now have something like 1777 members and so the Summer period always represents an "rigorous challenge" for us with our membership renewals. I am certainly not looking for sympathy (I realised a long time ago, that this certainly isn't the right place for that!) but the work is done in our spare time and obviously given holidays etc we normally do have a mountain of paperwork at this time of year.

My priority will always be to process memberships first and then send out letters afterwards.

The reason why our membership is at a fixed time, as opposed to a rolling annual membership, is that it means that we can deal with memberships more efficiently, albeit that it creates this seasonal "spike" in our admin workload. It also means that we get the economies of scale when processing membership cards.

One other thing to confirm: if you were a Bees United member last year and have not yet renewed, please be assured that your membership is still valid. You will remain a member until such time that we write to tell you that your membership is overdue. Membership does not simply cease on the stroke of midnight 30th June.

If anyone does have any membership niggles please accept my sincere apologies and reassurance that these issues will be dealt with in the coming weeks.

While I am here, one other notices worth bringing to people's attention: in early to mid-September there will be the normal run up to elections to the Society Board. Last year at least two people expressed an interest in standing for election, only for them to discover that they were not even Bees United members. So if you are interested in shaping the direction of the Trust, please make sure you a member (and obviously joining at this time of the year maximises your membership period); equally if you are unsure about your membership status please email or PM me.

You'll be fine with last year's membership card. Same goes for the Everton match.

Last year's membership only started after the Gecko deal was approved. Details on how to renew will go out soon and will bring the membership year back to a start in the closed season. Those that pay by Standing Order (annual or monthly) are unaffected.

Such success puts a strain on the admin capacity of our part-time volunteers. It's a nice problem to have, but it means we cannot acknowledge everybody as quickly as we would like. The new season’s membership cards will be despatched soon.

Two BFC Directors have taken the trouble to respond to you directly, regarding (in particular) your concerns re the goalkeeping situation & the number of players on the books in general.
