Kevin O'Connor
Have to disagree there mate, Williams' pace is an asset we cannot do without. Kev on the right wing....maybe in his younger days but can't see it now.
He played extremely well there against Yeovil though imo.

Fair do's I wasn't at that match. Whatever, I'd like to see Kev in the side in some capacity now.

Oconnor is just a plodder, and anyone that thinks he should be in the side hasn't a clue.
For starters he doesn't have the pace or skill to play right wing, and is awful as a centre midfielder cos he doesn't leave the centre circle and only contributes simple sideways passes.
Granted he is a pretty solid full back though i'll give him that and in desperate times he is versatile and can play most positions, but he isn't worthy of a place in the first team for me, the people on here who say play him instead of Bean are out of there mind, I agree Halls hasn't been the answer to the centre midfield but don't think he deserves the slating that he's been getting on here from the games i've seen him play at least the blokes a footballer who wants to try and play, yes in this division thats difficult but don't forget the bloke is a right back playing out of position.
I'm just glad Andy realises that the day's of Oconnor are over and we have better players right now.

I agree, in place of Bean cos his rubbish
KOC does move slightly further than Pead but it's a close thing.
The Mous and Bean would have been ideal over the past few weeks. the Mous isn't fit to lace the boots of Halls but would have been a much better option.
Pead and KOC are not up to it and luckily Andy,Raybfc and I agree.![]()
Kev should be in the team. He would help in midfield even if he doesn't go forward very often. After Tuesday nights showing the team need stability, which he would supply. Also as he has been out of the team for a while and he knows the fans want him(singing Tues night)he would have a bit (lot) more passion and maybe put himself about more on the pitch.![]()
Bean has been one of out most vauble players this year.
His unnoitced work is what as given us most of our points.
Guess if there was a simple answer then Scott and Bullivant would have found it.
Bean first, have to say he would be one of the first names on the team sheet he does a great deal of work that goes unnoticed, no he is not the greatest or most skillful player the Bees have ever had but I can guarantee that if he was not doing the "dirty work" in midfield you would notice it and the results would be reflecting it.
Halls, has all the skills and abilities that you could possibly ask for however like many others there is something missing, whether it is commitment, effort or just an over inflated opinion of his abilities I dont know but in midfield he is not the answer. A shame cos with his abilities he should be able to run the show. RB? has shown a marked lack of interest in going in where the tackles are flying about and in this league if you dont get hurt you are likely to have missed the game!! Perhaps he is in this league on merit and other managers have realised there is something missing in his performance. Pead has been criticised for lack of effort and ability, Brooker villified for lack of effort but with ability......which category will Halls fit into??
Kevin; Hard working Proffessional not blessed with the greatest of skills or pace but tends to put in solid performances, not to be relied upon when the going gets tough but a useful enough player to have in the squad. With Elder suspended and Williams likely to play up top I would be happy to see him wide right, he can read the game and has a decent pass in him perhaps even allowing Newton to get ahead of him.
Pead: Still not sure what has happened to him, MOM at Wycombe and then vanished completely, I would be happy to see him return to midfield on Sat with Bean, he does pass the ball, he does make himself available, he is as likely as Halls to go into a 50/50 challenge and when he was previousley in the team in my opinion we played better football.
It is all about opinions and fairly consistantly AS and myself have disagreed!!! I expect nothing more this week!
What are you talking about?![]()
Bean does nothing for me,his got no skill, cant score goals.cant head a ball, trips himself up, all because he runs around for 90 minutes does make him a good player.I still prefer koc
I still think there is some room for sentiment and loyalty in football....despite the events of the last 20 years.....Kevin O'Connor is good enough to be in the squad and symbolises a lot more than just a league two bench player for the club.
Apart from the headed goal he scored of course![]()
But he was found wanting and lost the midfield battle on SaturdayKev must play regularly. Any current Brentford team without Kev is the poorer for it. Play him in centre midfield and we won't be found wanting when it comes to commitment, intelligence and the battling qualities needed at this time of year. The more creative play will need to come from our wide players. Kev recycles the ball well enough and has ability in the air and in the tackle. Keep Kev in the team!
If I was KOC I would be checking out the fastest journey to Cheltenham to join up with a Manager who appreciates me, and be playing at a higher level.

the guy who has never played for anyone else in his 11 years as a pro footballer even though he has had the chance to move on. My feller asked him towards the end of last season if he would ever leave '' not unless they throw me out" he repliedThis is Kevin O"Connor you are talking aboutthe guy who has never played for anyone else in his 11 years as a pro footballer even though he has had the chance to move on. and if Scott and Bullivant did that, then I would query their wisdom to say the very least
But he was found wanting and lost the midfield battle on Saturday
Claire do you think he will get a game for us before then ?????
From what ive seen from the likes of Halls, Josh Wright, Bean and Pead KOC is more than worthy of a place in the side in place of or along side any of these

Read the post I'm replying to. It states that with Kevin playing we won't be found wanting, something about battling qualities required at this time of the year. Well we may not have noticed him but he was playing and we were outbattled in midfield by Jones and Toner. In his first game for ages against a very good side.
Most people agree KOC should be in the team and i hope AS sees sense and starts him tomorrow!
