I would suggest that Karleigh holds this title, he was being shouted at during the Bradford game. Now did he do a lot wrong?

:(
Disgusting behaviour from 'supporters'. :nono:

:imwith: There were a couple of said "supporters" sat near me who abused Karleigh from virtually the first minute. Unbelievable.

Thank God it was Dickson and not Karleigh who spooned the ball out of play with barely 10 seconds of the match gone. Oddly said "supporters" said nothing when Ryan miskicked.

Kevin O'Connor

O'Connor could play right back to save dropping Hunt and as Halls is the most hated man at griffin Park it will save Scott the Head & Shoulders bill increasing for the rest of the season.

No Brentford player is hated.

Next time tell them to ****off.

Kevin O'Connor

the fact being karleigh cant play at right back,he is always on the wrong side of players, and dosnt seem to know when the right time to make his challenge.

Were these fans actually abusing him? As in, shouting 'Karleigh you are sh*t, get the **** off the pitch', or were they moaning about him?
I was moaning about Karleigh, really not rating him, but its a whole different kettle fish to actually abuse our own players - and ****ing stupid at pretty much any point, regardless where we are in the league.

No -that's your opinion.

Here is a fact - Karleigh scored an important late equaliser against Darlington earlier this season - that point maybe priceless

Here is my opinion - against Gillingham he was actually playing well until he let Barcham past him, he should have stood him up in the box, not tackled him in the area - that was his mistake - as Barcham was close to the by line with Brentford defenders closing out the Gills attackers in the box.... still hindsight is a wonderful thing

I agree with you. And you could add that his distribution is not exactly of the highest order either. I think Brentford are a better side with O'Connor and John Halls in the line up than Osborne and Hunt. But as I have noted before I suspect my views are in a minority. Whatever, it's all a matter of opinion and whoever plays lets all get behind the lads.

And Ryan gave away a silly penalty a while back similar to Karleigh's but was he abused..... nope thankfully. It's typical of some BFC fans that they have to have at least one player they dislike and abuse. WHY!!!!!!!

And back to Kev, when he plays Beano seems to be able to get forward more. Hunt has done a good job while he's been injured but AS will always pick a team he feels will win the game. God knows how he can choose five subs though. What a good situation to be in. :D

It's one of the rare occasions when I wish we could have 7 subs like in Prem

In my opinion Hunt is a good player and has made some telling contributions over the past 4 games, however, when KOC is fit he should be picked ahead of Hunt. Looking at it from a team perspective KOC would be in our best 11 everytime, and it is interesting that when he is missing we are not as effective as a whole unit, ie since he has been out we have not won a game. This may not be solely down to KOC but his presence gives us a better balance IMO, and also brings out the best in Bean. Hunt is a good understudy, and his throws/goals are an asset, but overall for the balance of the team it has to be KOC. Its a similar discussion to the Woods/Poole debate, no-one can doubt Poole's abilities especially his goals but Scotty has to look at the bigger picture, ie the team dynamics.

Kevin O'Connor

I tend to feel that when KO'C plays he's the holding player which allows MB to get forwaqrd more: when Hunt plays, both he and MB do both jobs, which restricts MB rather. He might be a better replacement for MB - remember the forward run which set up a CMac (?) goal in one of his early games?

From BBC;

Brentford will hand skipper Kevin O'Connor a late fitness test on his knee injury ahead of the promotion clash with third-placed Exeter.

“I’m not looking to move anywhere. I’ve always said I can’t see me playing anywhere other than at Brentford. I’ve been here a long time and love the place.”

I agree with you Nick, Hunt would be difficult to leave out unless KOC was flying again in training and fully fit. Unfortunately the injury broke up a partnership in which Bean is more effective but Hunt & Marcus worked better at Bradford than before.

I think hunt has grown and grown and to be fair it would be a hard decision to drop him for KO. Kevs absence from the team has coincided with both of our slightly dodgy (if we can call a run without losing but drawing quite a bit dodgy) runs. Hunt has settled in and really got to grips with it more and more each game and i think he could be a really good player.

Maybe wean kev back in, he has been out a long time now.

Not only that he's a top class player and we'll need him in league ONE.
Can't imagine AS won't offer him at least a 2 year contract :sorted:

When Kev is fit he should play. If not quite fit then Hunty should carry on for the moment

i don't agree, he will be a named sub first, IMO

Kevin O'Connor

We miss Kev big time and I'm sure thats why we havent been at opur best since hes been out. Also Bean's performances have dropped since Kevin had been out.

Hopefully Kevin will be back for Darlo

Kevin O'Connor

Bean must be carrying an injury. Certainly appeared that way at the start of the second half.

Kev must be still injuried not to be even on the bench. No good and so badly missed

Kevin O'Connor

Was he at Darlo? I hope so - it was only when he came into the side alongside Bean that we really picked it up and started to look like real contenders so I hope it got a chance to join in the fun.

If not, I only hope proper respect is played next Saturday. He's out of contract in the summer so who knows whether it'll be the last chance to do so. :(

Kevin O'Connor

I can help on this, can't imagine he went to Darlo I saw him in a bar in Windsor Saturday evening!

Kevin O'Connor

Even if he's not fit, I'd like to see him come on for the last two minutes on Saturday. By which time we will of course be four up, so no risk.

Kevin O'Connor

Even if Kev's not fit enough for a cameo, some opportunity should still be found on Saturday for the fans to show their appreciation. The same goes for other players who have been a big part of our success this season but who won't be running out on Saturday. It's getting to be quite a roll-call of fallen heroes.

Kevin O'Connor

I would be surprised if he went up to Darlington if he had a chance of being available for Luton. No point in dragging him around on 2 long coach journeys.

Kevin O'Connor

I had a chat with him after Dagenham and he said he was ready to play if Scotty selected him.

Expect to see him play a role on Saturday.

Kevin O'Connor

Shame he wasn't up at Darlington... shows in a way what a professional club we are nowadays... 'business as normal' when we needed a result, others told to rest in case needed for the final game, but still a shame that those who were so important throughout missed the big day and evening...

Kevin O'Connor

... more likely that the budget didn't stretch to accommodating more than 18 players for an overnight stay!!

Kevin O'Connor

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere but I couldn't see anything.

I'm guessing that Kevin O'Connor's testimonial won't take place until next season, particularly with Reading's play-off participation uncertain as yet and especially if the Brentford players are off to Las Vegas in the near future?

It's a real shame because a 'promotion party' testimonial could probably add about another 50% to the attendance - remember Alan Nelmes' benefit match at the end of the 1977/78 season?

A pre-season match would just produce the usual friendly match attendance.

Kevin O'Connor

Now Coppell and Downes have left Reading, where does this put Kevin's testimonial match?

Is there another club who could come in and provide opposition for Kevin's testimonial match?

I hope something is sorted out and a pre-season testimonial is forthcoming.

Kevin O'Connor

Didn't Kev have the nickname Shrearer when he was younger.

Lets try for Chelsea :sorted:
Crawley have managed to get them at home this year so why can't we, their reserves play on our ground.

Which Chelsea team are Crawley playing ?

I'll bet it contains no-one who has played in the Premiership....

No to Chelsea......

Yes to Brentford Legends XI, spanning Kev's career so far - pre-season friendly

Legend XI is the way forward - 2 teams of legends.

Yes please!

Shall I be boring? A lot of the players will be contracted to clubs - can we afford to insure them for the one game?
