Minnow clubs may be after him because he's a dace player with a real turbot-charge about his running. Having said that - and I don't want to carp - he's a bit chubby (although I believe that recently he's shown some remoras about his weight) and despite being a bit gobie has a bit of a herring problem.

Might flounder a bit at a higher level - but he can be brill, despite being a bit over-roughy in his approach at times. According to the Lancet, his pencil smelt so I hope he doesn't need to go under the sturgeon's knife. That would be a ruddy shame.

Right, that should do.

Fish Puns of a lower league standard.
Mr Kainiemi, did you not read the memo, Brentford's puns must be of Championship quality now.
WRITTEN WARNING !

All mirth and puns aside about his name - very sad to hear that Kipper seems to have been refused a visa at the last moment and is therefore unable to travel to the UK to join in training at the academy at Brentford FC.

Looks like good old fashioned bureaucracy has reared its ugly head again - apparently too much of a "flight" risk.

I just think how heartless to refuse entry at the last minute - he is after all only a boy of 15 years - to me that is just cruel of our immigration services, surely they would have been able to make a decision at an earlier date - seemingly leaving it last minute is to be quite frank not very british - I dont think our sense of fair play is real these days - just a facade to hide behind whilst we act like any other unthinking uncaring regime - dont feel very proud today

I sincerely hope this situation can be rectified so that a boy is still allowed to dream and have some dreams come true

I'm amazed that we've stopped someone coming into the country, when did all this start and isn't it about 10 years too late?

Kipper Luwalu

I dont know where to start ..........maybe he didnt want a council house or benefits and therefore was refused

It seems like a load of old bureaucracy has targeted a 15 year old footballer, It beggars belief, But don't worry, they are saving Councils houses and Benefits for the influx of Romanians & Bulgarians on 1st Jan 2014!!!!

Pity he's not the son of a Chinese businessman. He could have stayed as long as he liked with Osborne as a butler.

As someone who seems to spend a lot of time getting Visas for myself and for other people working for me, it's not surprising. The UK is particularly cumbersome and unhelpful (although not as bad as India!). I doubt that BFC have a lot of experience with UKBA and "coming for a trial at Brentford" is not one of the most used visa application categories, it does sound like it could be a job in the UK so it's difficult to get the description correct. It's not tourism, it's not a business meeting, it's not work. Perhaps this is something that can be routed through the Academy as an educational trip? Nevertheless, perseverance conquers all.

He is the one that got away

Has a NET gag been done yet? RSVP.

To be honest I do feel for the lad, he's been reeled in and let down but there are bigger fish for us to fry at the moment.

I know this one has been done before ,but now it is official

KIPPER HAS BEEN STITCHED UP !

Kipper Luwalu

I exclusively revealed this on 22nd October. Only now its noticed ....

Sadly when you employed your talented soothsayer tendancies and cut open the chicken you mis-interpreted the entrails that noted he wouldn't even be allowed to get the experience you stated would be good for him :)

Does BONO know one of the babies he has saved has been denied access to this green and pleasant land??

Actually, this topic is much more serious than people think.

In recent years, literally thousands of African children have obtained temporary Visas to fly to Europe for trials with clubs, and then when they've been part of the 99% who don't get taken on, they don't/won't/can't go back to Africa, and end up on the streets instead. (Belgium is/was particularly notorious for this).

In fact, it has got so bad, that People Traffickers have latched onto this "trade" in young footballers, setting up entirely fictitious trips to get youngsters into Europe, where they don't care what happens afterwards, since they have already pocketed their fee.

Tbf, Britain has not really suffered much from this, partly because the PFA and FA are actually pretty tight on allowing Visas for all but the very best adult footballers. And whilst I'm sure young Kipper's proposed trip to BFC is entirely above board, nonetheless, the UKBA will have seen what is happening on the Continent, and won't want to let it creep in here.

For further info, this lengthy (6 part) article from Der Spiegel tells a grim story:

(Note the date - 2010 - afaik, the problem has got worse since then)

GULU UNITED YOUTH FOOTBALLER LANDS TRAINING WITH TORONTO FC, BRENTFORD FOOTBALL CLUB

May 27, 2014

Written by Phillip Corry Published in Football 222

Kipper Luwalo, will have trials with Toronto FC and Brentford Football Club.

After over six months of international visa roadblocks, the door has finally opened for the Gulu United Football Club and it's youth academy together with teenager Kipper Luwalo.

Last Sunday, 15-year-old Gulu United midfield Kipper Luwalo landed in Toronto, where he will spend two weeks testing his skills and showing off the quality of football that is developing in northern Uganda.

He was recently named the youngest member of Uganda’s U-17 national team, and just returned to Gulu mid-week after a pair of matches in Nairobi, Kenya.

While in Toronto, Luwalo will have a trio of training and trial opportunities.

In week one, Luwalo will hit the field with Power FC’s U-17 squad, which participates in the Soccer Academy Alliance of Canada. He will then be under the microscope at the Brentford Football Club Open Trial, which will take place on May 31 and June 1 at the L’Amoreaux Sport Complex.

This Brentford trial is open to all youth players from U-10 to U-21 and there are a few spots still available.

Luwalo will then head to the KIA Training Ground where he will get a trial with Toronto FC of Major League Soccer.

It will be a busy 14 days that is going to put Kipper Luwalo, the Gulu United Football Club and northern Uganda in the spotlight.
