Hmmm, I would hope that any true racing driver would jump at the chance to be No. 1 driver at Ferrari, compared to any other slot. Especially since next year (and even at the end of this year), Ferrari could well be as good or better than McLaren again.

3 Alonso (McLaren)
4 Hamilton (McLaren)

If the 3 remaining GPs finish like that Raikkonen will be champion, a point ahead of Alonso and 2 points ahead of Hamilton. Now that would be justice.

Spanish TV made a really big thing of the McLaren technicians cheering when Hamilton snatched pole from Alonso. They see Alonso as the victim.

I watched the re-run today just to see Alonso's crash, I was really peed off when they didn't catch it. But what about that last lap fight between Massa and Kubica, I think that was the most exciting I've ever seen Formula 1 get.

got up to watch the race live, regretted that decision when i saw the rain!

glad they got it going cos it was a great race.... Massa-Kubica and Raikkonen-Kovaleinen on the last lap were both great duels.

poor Mark Webber! suffering from food-poisioning, threw up in his helmet early on but raced on and was 2nd when the second safety car came out. Then Vettel behind him crashed into him (behind the safety car :D) and took him out.

Vettel was later shown in the pits crying like a baby, and Webber's interview on live tv went "it's kids innit.... kids.... always f*cking things up..."

If the car behind him got rammed by the bloke behind him, then thats their problem, not Hamiltons. They should be concentrating more.

The fact that Alonso has also stepped in gives it even less credibility.

very biased perspective we all have here....!!

i'd say that that video was pretty damning - watching the race live, they were commenting on Lew's driving behind the safety car, and constant speeding-up and slowing down.
webber is forced to slow right down as he's not allowed to overtake hamilton, and vettel (who claims he was distracted, watching hamilton) slammed into the back of him...

hamilton's main argument, i think, will be "well why didn't they complain at the time?" - it's a crime that could've been dealt with with a drive-through penalty on the day, but now that it's being looked at retrospectively, the punishment could end up being far worse. and it looks like the punishment could well out-weigh the crime!

Hamilton was driving quite correctly imho, same tactics as any safety car lap it was just that it was ,ahem, "raining rather a lot" that led to the incident plus inexperience by Vettel

Schumacher done it for years so there's no way anyone can be penalised although Hamilton is in a McLaren and not a Ferrari so ....

It was dangerous driving in those conditions, especially as it was hard to see just yards infront. Quickly speeding up them slamming on the brakes was a tad daft.

Doing that is the only way to get heat into the brakes and keep them operating at the highest level. When the brakes are cool, the car takes a little longer to stop.

It is the same story with the tyres.

Hamilton did nothing wrong. Vettel was distracted, so he is at fault, he should have been paying more attention, particularly in those conditions.

Hopefully this hasn't unsettled Hamilton too much and he get enough points to win the championship this weekend and rub Alonsos Spanish shnozza in it.:sorted:

It doesn't look like anything seems to unsettle Hamilton, and as for Alonso.... he's upset cos everyone (but mostly Hamilton) isn't bowing down to his greatness rofl

I can see where they were coming from to be honest. I can't understand why Hamilton takes such a different line through the corner but he did and has obviously explained this to the satisfaction of the stewards. Because of this Webber brakes as he obviously wasn't watching Hamilton and because of the conditions and his admitted lack of concentration as he was watching Hamilton, Vettel hit him.

They are not allowed to speed up and slow down under safety car conditions regardless of what it does to the tyres and brakes, they must maintain the gap at the same distance.

Hope we get a close and exciting race this weekend and although I would love Lewis to win the championship I'd like it to carry over to the next race as it makes for better viewing when there is something at stake.
