Luis Suarez

Biting a fellow professional in the course of one's work is tantamount to common assault. Suarez can consider himself lucky not to be up on a charge and facing a prison sentence.

Prison behave!!! He didn't even draw blood!! I don't want thousands of tax payers money being spent attempting to prosecute for such a trivial act!!! Would sooner they invested more effort reclaiming monies from drug lords and the like than poxy footballers!!!!

Luis Suarez

Not being prosecuted however feel the ban is about correct bearing in mind that he got 7 match ban in Holland

At the same time the penalties for violent conduct and racism need to be increased, however a bench mark is now set and can be referred to in the future

Luiz' deliberate assault on Reeves was far worse and they deemed it not worth punishing. How can a bite on the top of the arm be worth a 10 game ban, no common sense or logic. A bite will hardly end a players career but a deliberate elbow to the side of the head could cause permanent damage yet the FA deem unworthy of an investigation.

Luis Suarez

It seems to me to be utterly foolish to compare what Suarez did to serious foul play; it was both violent conduct and bringing the game into disrepute. It does not matter a jot how much damage was or was not done, the intent was there. It was not an over-zealous tackle but sheer animal behaviour from a player with plenty of previous. Talk about counselling and 'helping him' is just boIIocks. Luiz on Reeves should have received a FA punishment but it was an "internal" football affair; Suarez made all the mainstream news and football must be seen to be responding.

Luis Suarez

Couldn't be less than 7 as that's what he got last time he got hungry on the pitch !!

Luis Suarez

Will be a tad embarassing if he wins PFA player of the year....

Won't be getting many votes from Chelsea or any black players. In fact I would be surprised if he got a single vote outside of Liverpool.

Luis Suarez

Ten Games?

The poor boy will starve.

Yes because all the black chelsea players will be voting for their resident Captain and Legend John Terry - Mr 4 game ban man

Luis Suarez

Guys got previous for biting and for racism.

10 game seems fair to me.

If anything like this happens again it should be a ban from English football. Although im sure some mad person at the human rights convention would say thats out of order.

Haha yeah true. Luckily he is not nominated. I would like to see Carrick win personally.

Luis Suarez

i can't get worked up about this, sorry. 10 games seems fair if he was banned 7 games previously for the same thing. "biting" is a completely weird thing to do and there can't be any hint that it can be remotely seen as "acceptable"

i appreciate people saying "yeah what about that leg-breaking tackle" etc - tough to adjudicate in our hysterical age though i think the difference between "genuine, mistimed" and "malicious, dangerous" IS easy to see as long you're not being silly  and "mailicious, dangerous" tackles should get bigger bans, simple

Completely agree. The only answer is to have a 'Monday morning panel' made up of recent/relevant pros (players/managers/refs) who can look at any challenge/event and determine whether naughty or numpty, with a clear tariff for offences. Thus the Luiz challenge on Reeves would earn, e.g. a 5 game ban for deliberate and malicious, whereas a late but unintentional challenge gets, say, a yellow. People will argue that you're taking the decisions away from the ref, but with the advent of 360 degree tv cameras the ref doesn't have all the info. That said, it's not always black and white and all fans will complain if they think a 'grey area' challenge has gone against them.

Where then do you put Luiz's challenge on Reeves on that scale though. It was both malicious and highly dangerous and resulted in a yellow card! Assuming you think ten games for Suarez's anti social nibble is justified given his previous misdemeanours the system is riddled with massive anomalies and injustice. The whole system needs reviewing.

Luis Suarez

I heard a good point mentioned earlier,. If Luis Suarez was a criminal facing charges his previous convictions would effect the sentence he would receive. Given that he has been banned for diving, racism and biting (although in a different country) the FA may have taken the view that the accumulation of all these incidents has resulted in a lengthy ban, and perhaps if someone with no previous had done it the ban would be less than 10 games. However that requires logic and we all know the FA make it up as they go along.

agree, malicious, dangerous, 4-0 up against a lower-league team at the end of the match, pathetic. so, it's covered under what i said earlier

Luis Suarez

I would have said that ;

The Suarez bite was a unique 'incident'

The 10 match ban is a unique penalty

You cannot compare it to any other offence seen on a football pitch

This sends out a clear message that biting is totally not accepted .....

..... but I still can't figure out how Defoe didn't get done

Luis Suarez

10 match ban seems fair seeing that he's got previous form for biting.
A complete weirdo IMO.

Luis Suarez

Rodgers told LFC TV: "The punishment is against the man, rather than the incident.

It's against the man who caused the incident.

"We have a punishment with no intention of helping [his] rehabilitation."

Rehabilitation is feck all to do with The FA. His employer could support it. Feck me, a man earning £4m a year could stretch to getting his own treatment. The FA has very kindly given him five months to sort himself out.

Rodgers, whose side travel to Newcastle United on Saturday, also said:

Liverpool were "shocked" and "bitterly disappointed" by the severity of the ban.
Well if it's good enough for seven in Holland it's good enough for the same here. Plus some for repeat offence and previous form.

No-one could have complained if the punishment had been a six-game ban with a further six suspended.

Why would any of the ban be suspended? He's done it before.

"If I had more players of a similar mentality we would be in a different position. He has not let me down one bit.

This is unbelievable. It is the comment of a complete dickhead.

You have to understand that Liverpool would be right up sh*t creek without this (talented) moron. They have to defend the indefensible. Liverpool have become just another charmless club like Chelsea. Except they don't win anything.

Luis Suarez

The bit that gets me is if the referee had seen the incident and chosen to book him, Suarez would be lining up for Liverpool at the weekend.

Oh I get it. And despise it.

I think Manchester United handled the Cantona situation better. Unless the passage of time has addled my mind.

Luis Suarez

If I remember rightly, Man U banned Cantona themselves before the FA/Premier League had even considered their own punishment. In hindsight, it worked wonders as he knew he owed the club big time. He probably had his best season as a footballer. I think there was one month where he was basically carrying United they were so lacklustre

Luis Suarez

He will miss the 4 remaining games this season which wont harm them as doubt they will catch Everton. So Really 6 games at the start of the season is nothing – probably needs a break anyway as has been carrying that team all season – should have been 10 matches at the start of next season IMO.

Great player but needs help.

Luis Suarez

I wonder if he broke skin with the bite. It takes on a whole new light if you consider he could have infected Ivanovic with Hep B or HIV. Are pro footballers regularly screened?

Quite frankly I can't believe people are crying over this detestable ****

Luis Suarez

With Suarez banned for 10 games who will be Liverpools designated diver.

Luis Suarez

I saw somewhere that his comments were mistranslated, not sure how true that is though. To be fair he is just saying what any player at Liverpool is thinking. Who wouldn't rather play and live in Madrid!? Better team and better quality of life. His comments on the press are a little strange though. Does he really expect to racially abuse someone, bite someone and dive week in week out and the press not to mention it?! The press would give him an easier time if he wasn't such a ****.

Luis Suarez

he will be wasting his career if he stays at Liverpool, they won't be challenging for honours at home or abroad for years

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez

Moving due to how he has been treated by the press...........

Luis have you ever dived.........yes
Luis have you made racist comments to another player.......yes
Luis have you bitten another player........yes
Luis would you be any less of a player if you didn't do these things.........no

Not sure what the press are on about!!!

Luis Suarez

If what Suarez is saying about breach of contact is true then I have some sympathy with him and Liverpool look amateurish.

Would you really put much store by what this man says?

Luis Suarez

He wants to collect his "loyalty" payment by not requesting a transfer. It use to be around 10% of the fee so its worth having
If Arsenal offer 50m Liverpool would sell him like a shot. They are only spinning it out to get more money for him. Its sort of telling that none of the clubs who have a realistic chance of winning the champions league have shown any interest in him

Luis Suarez

Little kid on SSN

" sell him he's a vamipire "

I'm going to buck a trend and stand up for Suarez. How can an employer insist on an employee staying with a company? That doesn't happen in the real world. Liverpool are lucky in that they have a chance of getting very, very good compensation as a result of a contract ending early but to me, it seems madness that someone can insist that an employee cannot leave.

understand your point but then why sign a long term contract? Might as well have all players signing one year contracts

It's a contractual obligation and it offers the player security if for example he suffered a long term injury. The players seem to want it both ways...........the security of a contract and the freedom to walk away from the contract if and when it suits them.

When they signed him he has history of acting like this so I am less than sympathetic to them. Slightly hypocritical stance also by Liverpool as haven't they just signed a player by triggering a release clause

Henry's statement that he will not be sold at any price is bold and we will see if he sticks to it, my guess is it is stance to get him to submit to submit a formal transfer request and forego his 10% bonus. I would say his price is not increasing now that there will be an inevitable stand off.

Luis Suarez

I do find it interesting that Liverpool go on about Suarez owes loyalty and moaning about the release clause. Rogers has shown no loyalty to previous clubs and when he went to Liverpool he went straight back to Swabsea to trigger release clauses in contracts because he knew the details

I do find Liverpool fans to be the most self centred, moaning, hypocritical and self centred fans who live wallowing in self pity !!!!

Luis Suarez

Liverpool are going no where under Rodgers so Ican see why hewants out but arsenal are no better

Luis Suarez

Liverpool and Arsenal are like two fat balding men leaning on the bar remembering what it was like to be noticed.
