so we are all equal but when you insult a black person they are more equal than the rest?
If you racially abuse a black person they are as equal as anyone else?

But of course historically black people have been LESS equal than the rest, and as the balance of equality is redressed expect it to swing the other way (or at least seem to) for a time as it settles down. Or of course, it could be equally likely that in a predominately white society black people understand the issues better (as their situation dictates) and are less likely to use racist terms.

Luis Suarez

it wouldnt even get mentioned in the press...how about ginger ****? or gypsy ****? skinny ****? whats the difference

again, that's just speculation on your part. i bet if someone said "that black player just called me a white *****, where's the equality huh?" it'd be newsworthy

i do see your point that there's little difference in ginger/gypsy/skinny being used, but them's the rules  and none of those are races (except maybe gypsy, grey area :suspect: )

Luis Suarez

you (and Poyet) are really missing the point on this one. it might not be an offensive term, but here it's "sensitive" and certainly not said in a friendly manner

my apologies to Mr Poyet, it seems it's only ChessingtonBee who's missing the point:

"In Uruguay it is a nickname for someone whose skin is darker than the rest," he explains. "It is not offensive. Such people are part of our society. We will defend them, go to war with them, share everything with them, and at the same time use that word. But I do understand that in England the word is used differently, so we have to pay attention how we use it. We need to adapt. Do we as foreigners need to adapt more to England than England to us? Yes, of course. That's common sense. I know things Luis Suarez does not know because I have been here 14 years. So let's use common sense and give the kid a chance."

FA needed to make a strong statement, so 8 games. knowing full well it's going to be halved on appeal. as i said at the start.

Luis Suarez

1) an intelligent, well-regarded former player and manager from Uruguary

or

2) a random gobshite on a football forum?
Oh No, ChessingtonBee doesn't agree with me!

You pick out the one person who has the same opinion as you and then he becomes the law on what is racially correct. Yes, he is intelligent and well regarded as a football manager perhaps. But do I want him making decisions on complex cases of racism? No, because his job is kicking around a football.

Poyet seems to be saying Uruguay is a third world country that hasn't haven't moved with the times and concedes that players in our league need to adapt - what will JTs' mitigating circumstances be?

Not at all I agree entirely with Mr. Poyet's sentiment :-

''So let's use common sense and give the kid a chance.''

Maybe the underline function on your PC was playing up.

Luis Suarez

ball boys are not players *sigh* - in any case, seems he was questioned but the matter was not pursued (can't find any follow-up on it) - so maybe it was just an unfounded allegation

i highlighted the bit where Poyet said that Suarez needed to understand that such words couldn't be used in the same way here. and if you missed at the end, i said it's likely to be reduced to 4 games, which i think is the common sense aspect.

Luis Suarez

I do not see a problem using the term Black, Half Chap, Coloured etc. These are no different to being called a Jock, Taff, Paddy etc. IMO

However using a skin colour or decent or nationality with intent to hurt or offend is certainly racist....

Both occassions Suarez and Terry both said their piece with intent to cause offence. Why else would they have said it?

Luis Suarez

Poyet's argument would have a bit more force if Suarez was a kid fresh off the plane from Uruguay. But he was playing in Holland for five years before he came to Liverpool, where you might have thought he would have picked up a bit about what's acceptable behaviour in a modern multicultural society.

Luis Suarez

from what I can make out, Uruguayian Suarez gets a £40k fine and 8 game ban after being guilty by the FA when it ones mans word against a serial accuser who apparently insulted him first (not that two wrongs make a right)

England Captain, Terry gets a full the court summons (no FA hearing), which, if he found guilty will result in a fine of upto £2,500.

If Suarez is guilty, why hasn't been hauled into court?
If Terry is guilty why hasn't he been hauled into an FA hearing?

Looks a little like double standards from the FA, but then they seem to approve of violent conduct when the person red carded is likely to miss a few games of a tournament.

Luis Suarez

Would love to send some of the PC brigades to Israel, would be great if they could sort the Zionist persecution of the Palestinians. Ferdinand is black and so is Evra plus he is a frog, live with it!!! and worry about mans inhumanity to man which our country finances.

So true. That little scrotum kicks someone and that appears to be ok

it's been established numerous times on here that this is the first time Evra's accused someone - think the rest of your post is pretty good but leave out the inaccurate digs?

Suarez hasn't been prosecuted because there has been no complaint to the police about his conduct (including by Evra). Terry hasn't (yet) been hauled before the FA because to have done so would preempt and prejudice the legal proceedings against him.

That's just the way the law works. No deliberate double standards

Apart from allegations of racism Evra made against Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell in 2008 which were not proven.

But he is only a groundsman.

So that's OK then.

If Terry is found guilty, then it will be interesting to see how the FA react. Probably give him a 2 match ban suspended for 30 minutes.

Luis Suarez

Everyone is racist,its an instinct
This is simply untrue. Everyone notices differences in race, but not everyone is then prejudiced against those who are not of the same race as themselves.

I'm guessing that you can read, but simply choose not to?

^ Not much point in reading a load of old toot.

If I used similar logic to the FA, I would say there is no smoke without fire.

Didn't say prejudiced, your first reasonings was correct. This whole business is tosh.
More important in this world is the state sponsored racial terrorism

Simple question for you.As a cab driver, should i allow punters to shout "you black ****"from my cab as i am driving through an area such as Wandsworth or not?

QUE?? well...It's your cab but don't see what that has to do with racism

Couldn't you end up in court for assisting or something?

Stopping immediatley and dropping off said shouter in the middle of his hated area might subdue him, but then your unlikely to get the fare.

Luis Suarez

QUE?? well...It's your cab but don't see what that has to do with racism

Well if its ok by you then not ok by me.A simple yes/no answer was good enough for me.
As it happens i had a passenger who wanted to do just that last night. He wanted to shout obscenities from my cab to a black couple and all i said was if thats what you want to do then you can,but not from my cab.Do it on the pavement in front of the guy and ill be down the A3 on me way home.Funny how he declined my offer to shout racist abuse directly at the victim.
Maybe you would like to meet this guy as he feels no wrong in calling someone a black ****.

Already got paid upfront. No refunds here:)......and yes its my number plate on show.I had rear locks on and windows locked aswell otherwise he would have done it.
Footnote was he was a pissed up govt official and when i dropped him off at his rather large house in Surrey,he fell over in his garden.Looked at him and said"you look like the bloke you wanted to abuse, goodnight"

Luis Suarez

Would Barnes have taken the same stance if Suarez didn't play for his beloved Liverpool?

No...his article is his usual jibberish. He should be attacking Liverpool for their outrageous public OTT defence of Suarez which is basically saying it is OK to give racial abuse.

Luis Suarez

Will there be a whiteout or a whitewash or worse, will I have to watch Oliver again. All seems a bit Dickens to me.

This whole business ispathetic. Evra is black and if I had his bank account he could call me whatever he wanted. Spanish word for black is negra, very apt,not sinister so just get a life folks, better still, get an identity instead of hiding behind others, better still jump on a more worthy bandwagon..like animal cruelty.

You are (in simple terms that you will understand), a fool.

Only you can clearly understand what point you are desparately trying to make and on that note i will say au revoir to this thread and yourself moribee

justify, cos believe me,I am far from being a fool or an apologist. I do believe that animal rights are far more important than most of this thread, also in the removal of all Zionists to Liberia, also that there could be a whiteout soon. If that makes me a fool so be it. What most white apologists dont realise is that other creeds are laughing at them. Spend your energy on something worthwhile.

Luis Suarez

This is one of the most interesting, from a sociological point of view, threads I have ever come across :computer:

Luis Suarez

Would recommend people listen to Francesca Gagnon's album called Hybride and think on the millions spent by NATO on bombing other nationalities or by the Jewish state on the palestinians. Then you will have cause to fret. Being an apologist for overpaid black sportsmen is by comparison like having a mission to be another coconut like Obama. Still think there could be a whiteout if there isn't a blackout

Luis Suarez

There is a beer called Negra and one or two ice creams.

Perhaps Suarez was saying he was cool in an ice cream type way and it got lost in translation.

Luis Suarez

I have just read the report and it's about 100 pages and in forensic detail.

It is a very impressive and fair and well thought through document but it still comes back to the fact that Evra was a more credible and consistent witness than Suarez.

agree it is very thorough and quite fascinating in parts. my impression of the FA has improved slightly having read it.
