Manager Position

Martin Allen for the remainder of the season,he would give us our pride back and it would be fun again supporting the Bees. And if the players didn't pull thier weight they would know about it.

Manager Position

Keith Hill wouldnt come here.

You might be right, but he's got no budget to work on at Rochdale, he must know it will be nigh on impossible to take that side any further, so we can offer him a decent playing budge.
The same argument applies to Tisdale at Exeter.

Manager Position

John Still...not sure if he would leave Daggers though....good man management skills...put 4 past us as well.......YOU REDS....

Manager Position

Mr Coppell please.
Can't see the board getting MA back.

Gary Johnson? Not sure.

Not keen on Sousa or Parkinson at all.
Dennis Wise? Not after the 'incident' I had on Chiswick High Road with him once.:mad1:

Liam Daish anyone?

When was the last time you saw AS on TV with a BFC tie.....................
When was the last time you saw MA on TV with a BFC tie.................. Exeter in JPT

My only concern with bringing MA back to follow AS is that I can read all the press stuff now being fed from AS and his cronies "I was under too much pressure with MA on my shoulder and I was proved right, once MA was mentioned I was always going to fail"

Having said that my heart says bring back MA:sorted:

Agree completely – both know how to work a shoestring budget. The chance of a move to the capital could flick the Tisdale switch however with the cup looming I cant see it.

Manager Position

If Johnson is good enough long term, why now appoint him now?

I'm not suggesting we don't. I would certainly prefer a full time appointment to a caretaker to the end of the season.

Manager Position

Reading AS' comments after the match, it seems like he's not going to quit.

So, the board have to act if we're going to have any change...

Manager Position

totally agree, do not want bullivant. Look what happened last time we gave butchers assistant the job, he is still here and now has taken us backward. I still believe who ever got the job after butcher would have took us to promotion with the backing AS got.

Now thats what I call revising history volume 1 :sorted:

I'd choose Keith Hill before Paul Tisdale.

Tonight's result is truly disasterous and unfortunately the momentum is swinging away fast from Scott and Bullivant.
Individual errors come from a lack of confidence and Brentford's desperate lack of leadership, from the manager to the captain KOC, is costing us big time. The irony is we are only a good run away from safety in this truly average division. Bees can survive, but need decent luck, strong leadership and the positive energy generated by a JPT win at Exeter to lift the season. But the feeling persists that the Scott hoof ball brand of football will no longer be accepted by the regular fans. Andy wont change the style now. Therefore we need new direction, a breath of fresh air and an injection of confidence. Starting tomorrow - new manager, renewed confidence v Plymouth, potential Wembley visit on Monday. There is a lot at stake and in tough times, brave decisions need to be made. Andy has done a fantastic job, we salute you, saved possible relegation to the Conference, unforgettable championship win at Darlington, fantastic consolidation in D1 last year, a brilliant team performance at Southampton this season. Andy - you will never be forgotten, but sometimes in life there comes a time to admit it is best for all parties to call it a day. And the players who let you down will be found out and leave in due course. It is not a one way street. You are not entirely to blame. But the buck stops wth you. The board needs to act with dispassionate strength without emotion. Now.

Good post. I'd back all that, like I've bakced Scott on GPG for the past 6 months. But methinks it really is over now. Fans can just about tolerate poor results for a period if you are playing attractive football (which we're not) or they can put up with hoof ball if its getting results like it did under MA. We've got neither. Fact is our too large squad is causing nothing but confusion about who to play, where and why. The coaching staff have run out if ideas - that's ovbious form the post match press conferences.

Would like to make a couple of addtional points:

Can all the mad dogs shut-up about MA for manager. It was hoof ball, his record is at best patchy since he left BFC, and we completely bottled against Swansea in that semi final.

Don;t look back at last year as indicator for this season - we had the best keeper in the League (soon to be the best in the Premiership) who IMO earned the team somewhere between 12 and 15 points. Without those points Brentford would have finished lower half of the table.

Finally, admist all this talk about MA, why does no-one ever suggest the players take a look in the mirror? Balkestein? Diagouraga? There are probably others.

Manager Position

Long term appoitment is all well and good if we can get the right manager now. However we are deep in the do do and staring at relegation on this current form. We need someone short term if neccessary to ensure we don't go down. MA would be my choice to meet that criteria.

Manager Position

gary jhonson

Manager Position

I've switched to the Scott Out camp, but I don't see how you can claim we have gone backwards overall since Scott took over. We're a division higher, sliding down Lge One instead of down Lge 2, but still in a much better position than 3 years ago

yes. good post.

but sadly the keyboard warriors want blood, not to give support. the players and scott know this and it hardly helps him or his team deliver performances when many want to see them fail and him fall.

i do agree that the board needs to make a move to quell the unrest that is becoming endemic - ideally to state that andy has their full support.

Manager Position

I reckon Peter Taylor is about to be out of a job.
Not that I want him here.

I have a colleague who supports Bradford. It's fair to say that if it was a choice between the two, I'd be clamouring for Scott to stay.

Tell me about it, my little dip into the football world has shocked me about Taylor.
I'd rather keep Scott too.

Martin Ling has just become available, not that I would want him here...

Manager Position

Can someone remind me what the squad was that MA left behind when he walked away (toys out of pram, if the board won’t back me I’m off now that I have let most of the players from last season go) and what, as a result, happened the following season.

MA’s methods may have worked back then with youngsters and unknowns but with the experienced players we have (this is probably the oldest, most experienced squad we’ve had for a long time) would they respond to the MA approach. Sure you can jump in a stream and swim across it if you think it can improve moral and sure it may work with an impressionable 17 year old, but what do you think the reaction of our current squad would be, “Wow that’s the guy for me” or “Yeah right mate, what a Muppet”?

I agree MA has passion and commitment never has one man shown such drive - but the cause was always MA not BFC - and will always be so. We need a football manager not a self publicist, one that will try to transform what we have, to what I think most BFC fans want, a team building for the future playing attractive football with an unshakeable belief that better things are on the way.

If MA comes back, I will still clap the team out, cheer them on and clap them off, no matter how they play (frankly last night and both Orient away games earlier this season did put that to the test) but you have to remember MA made some strange substitutions and signings, he too lacked a plan b, and under him we played very direct kick-and-rush football – there was more to MA than his larger than life personality: you get one you get all.

Manager Position

MA today!!!! If he's allowed to stay until Exeter, we'll be in the bottom 4 and out of the cup. At least with MA in, we stand a chance of getting through and staying up! 2 points out of 21 - does the board really want to self destruct????

Manager Position

11 back for all corners?
Balls knocked into empty channels?

Manager Position

Wouldn't mine Sousa however ex QPR and I remember him being on 'quite' high wages in his previous management roles. Otherwise Allen till the end of the season or Gary Johnson. :sorted:

Manager Position

Did I read some where that Wise was at one of our recent games ?

Curbs would be fantastic but would need a huge results related incentive to join

Gary Johnson is a good prospect at our level

Any one ,any one being in charge on Sat instead of AS will be an improvement as the players wont do it for him any more .I hope Bully doesnt get the caretaker gig ,he should be off too .

We wont get a perm manager by Sat so I suggest that Mr Forster wears the hat for Sat .He's intelligent and should have the respect of the squad .

That's how I remember it. I can see why people would want MA back for other reasons maybe, but I don't think that him coming back will see us playing tippy-tappy any time soon.

I have a Swans mate (I know :( )

The players were mighty relieved when Sousa went. Bizarre training methods and a lack of communication were cited. They didn't let many in but they also scored a pitiful amount of goals when he was in charge.

we will end up wit Ian dowie,( scott out scott out )and close the door behind u :sorted::sorted::sorted:

Whilst I am not in favour of getting MA back certainly long term its about staying up not playing tippy-tappy football. So if MA were the short term replacement with the objective of keeping us in this division this season I would take it, but going further it must be Coppell or Johnson imo.

Manager Position

One further point. When MA was here he developed the careers of Sodje,Tabb,Turner and DJ, all of whom went on to play at a higher level,Scott has been here longer than MA was .and how many players has he developed ?

......."Four elementary mistakes cost us" ...................[.

I notice the 'elementary mistakes' count is going up every game. What would AS's comments be in the (highly) unlikely event he is here after Plymouth? Six elementary mistakes cost us?

but sadly the keyboard warriors want blood, not to give support.

Grow up. The 'keyboard warriors' want something different to defeats against Yeovil and Dagenham and a 2 point gap from the bottom four.

Manager Position

The other thing I'd say - I can't see Allen working with our Chief Executive.

Manager Position

Okay, in terms of who the next manager is, anyone could prove to be unsuccessful. The next appointment will always have an element of risk to it. The key to minimising the risk. Here are the steps I think will help get it right.

1. Martin Ling is now out of work having been sacked from struggling Conference side Cambridge after four straight defeats. So let's not clutter up the shortlist with candidates who are totally unsuitable.

2. I struggle to understand the short-term appointment logic. Whoever gets taken on is likely to keep their job if he keeps Brentford up and lose it if Brentford go down.

3. As we found out with Scott Fitzgerald, the job requires someone experienced.

4. It might be worth taking a fortnight to see how whoever is appointed caretaker fares. For 18 months, that worked well enough for us with AS.

5. Perhaps consider appointing a Director of Football? It is a common post at clubs these days.

Interesting times ahead....

Manager Position

I see it all now...the Messiah returns.......we hammer Plymouth 3-0 in front of 7,000 ecstatic fans......we go to Exeter and win... a Wembley appearance and an audacious run up the table to the play-offs........well I can dream can't I ?

Manager Position

I don't think anyone is suggesting Forster as a long term replacement but we MIGHT need someone to look after the team for 3 or 4 games so he is the logical caretaker (and he knows the players).

Precisely - then we can look properly at the credentials of Gary Johnson etc, assuming of course that they are interested in the job.

Does Jesus have the relevant coaching badges?
