Whatever happens, a decision has to be made quick. If Scott is going then it needs to be fast. Monday's JPT game is just too important IMO.

Manager Position

2. I struggle to understand the short-term appointment logic. Whoever gets taken on is likely to keep their job if he keeps Brentford up and lose it if Brentford go down.

4. It might be worth taking a fortnight to see how whoever is appointed caretaker fares. For 18 months, that worked well enough for us with AS.

Interesting times ahead....

In combination, it's difficult to make much sense out of these two. Could you perhaps clarify? As for 'interesting times', yes, but f***ing scary too!

Manager Position

One further point. When MA was here he developed the careers of Sodje,Tabb,Turner and DJ, all of whom went on to play at a higher level,Scott has been here longer than MA was .and how many players has he developed ?

There are meny good posts on this matter, Bee4ever sums up the difference between these two people superbly. One other point is that ( and I stand to be corrected ) has there been ANY manager at Brentford who has brought in and released as many players in 3 years.

Manager Position

In all honesty I don't think he knows what to do. I'm sure he's a good manager, his record over the past two and a bit years would suggest that, but unfortunately he's hit a wall IMO and has either lost the ability to identify the faults or to address them. He may well go on to have a successful managerial career but as far as BFC is concerned, a parting of the ways seems inevitable now.

:imwith:

I have really hoped that Andy Scott would turn the situation around and now accept that its not happening .. I get no pleasure in seeing some of the comments aimed at him deserved or not.

He was a good manager for us for the majority of his reign and like Owlsmoor says (whos posts I really respect) he has hit a brick wall.

I have no idea who should be our next manager

Not sure why the likes of Buckle and Sinton are being mentioned as they have no real CV to boast about ... but with any manager in football these days its pot luck how things turn out .. anything could happen

Last night was the last straw though and it appears that he has run out of ideas.
The results & performances this season have left most of us with that empty feeling and the feel good factor is as low as i can remember.
It's OUR club people and i pray that good times are not too far away.
By the way, I am a believer that the players should be held account too and we'll certainly see (if a new appt is made) who should be here and who should be binned off.

CHAPMAN & SCOTT OUT..!!

Yep, definitely scary.

Point 2 refers to declaring a short-term appointment until the end of the season. My feeling is there is no such thing. If such a manager keeps us up, then he will stay (or be headhunted elsewhere) and if we go down then he'll just slip away anyway and that will be no help to us.

Point 4 refers to someone who holds the fort in the interim period following AS's sacking, while the board is looking at a permanent candidate to take over ASAP. 7 points out of 9 and a victory down in Exeter and he'll probably get a contract.

Manager Position

Don't hold you breath - AS hasn't gone yet and maybe he will be given one (or two) more chances to put it right.
The BFC heirarchy is just to cosy and complacent with MB's millions to rock the boat just yet!

Manager Position

has he gone before i send email............?

Manager Position

As I mentioned before, I would be very surprised if,over tthe last week or so, BFC haven't already been in contact with their ideal replacement, given they way our season has been falling apart. If they haven't then I think they could lay themselves open to the charge of having no plan B in place.

As I've been saying......I have been firmly in the Keep AS camp, until quite recently. But now... sqaud is too large, too many comings and goings with loans etc has just left, paradoxically, to too many options. Net result? Coaching staff donlt actually know our best team or even what direction we're swimming, they have lost the respect from a small number of players and confusion reigns. It isn't simply a matter of "working harder and we'll put it right". There is no Plan B. Our best teams of past, eg under Steve Coppell, there was a settled squad and a first 11 selected from a pretty small group of players.

Of the players bought in by AS, how many have been a good acquisition? Cort? Forster? Balkestein? Diagarouga? McCracken? Vine?....the list goes on. Way too many short term decisions.

CHAPMAN & SCOTT OUT..!!

What is probably more apt for this thread is what are the board doing about the situation. As usual this appears to be nothing. This club has probably the best record of board mismanagement over the past fifty years one promotion above division 1 in that time.

The transfer window has now passed so a new manager will have to go with what he 's got and will probably need a miracle following recent performances. Apart from Martin Allen i cannot see high profile managers wanting the positon with our record.

Will the board act ................................ I doubt it so divison two beckons

Manager Position

People have commented that a number of players might not appreciate the Allen way of doing things however having had the pleasuer of spending a day with him a couple of seasons back the one thing beyond all else that came across is that he is a man manager and a damn good one, even when giving a rollicking to Sam Sodje for being late again it ended up with a smile and a cuddle and Sam feeling ten foot high.

At that time it was all smiles in the camp and the players responded to his instructions, thety were not rocket science but always used the words "enjoy and fun"

Tactically he may not have been the best however I genuinley beleive he has learned from his mistakes and not so sure we would recognise the style of football on offer from the last time he was with us, as to whether the board would go down this route remains to be seen however I genuinley beleive it will be fun again and we can have pride restored to our club.

As i get older my expectations in life diminish but the cornerstone is Brentford FC, I dont expect much but do want some fun, passion and enjoyment. MA brings all of these and more so in my humble opinion he would be the man to lift us from the morass in which we are currently drowning,

Dear BFC board,
Please choose Gary Johnson, Martin Allen or Alan Curbishley as our next manager.
I cannot bear another 2 and half years of Mr Wayfarer172 telling us how much he has always been against the appointment from the start.
many thanks

It was great fun with MA but he made too many mistakes. Flamboyant management but flakey football. We need a hard man to cut out the crap and get results. We have a good squad and if things change NOW, this division is so tight that the last play-off spot is not impossible. But it must change now. Johnson would seem to be the best bet - he knows what it is like at the arse-end of the football league, and has a reasonable record.

Manager Position

Please god not Bullivant or wise. Allen would be okay but cannot see it happening. I think we probably need to scour the lower leagues and try to find an over-achiever who likes football not hhofball.

from twitter @sammatterface : Could be a change of manager before the weekend in League One

Please Please Please!!

I remember my girlfriend and I took a trip to Port Vale one season and before the game he walked across the pitch, climbed in to the away stand and had a chat with everyone individually.

We won 1-0, but even had we lost, I'm sure the fans would have taken some comfort in knowing that our presence was appreciated.

We don't have time to get a rookie manager in and 'see how it goes' we don't have time to give AS more time, we don't have time to let Terry Bullivant be caretaker manager. We need someone with experience and man management skills who can take what appears to be a talented bunch of players who have lost all motivation and give them space and pride to express themselves. Clearly Martin Allen fits this need and seems keen to come back. When he was first here he was new to pro management and maybe had a little too much self belief. I am sure he will have learnt a lot over the last few years. Really I would love Steve Coppell back , a master of management in all areas but unlikely. I have a feeling we'll get Gary Johnson though which is a sensible compromise but wouldn't it be nice if for once we stopped compromising and went for it like a .....er Mad Dog!

paul buckle no no no thats a step sideways!

Manager Position

Would be happy to see MA back with Foz as his assistant. They know each other well & I believe that Foz has done some coaching badges already.

Johnson would also be a good apptmnt imo.

I don't believe Coppell will come back altho' there is just a chance as to have the free rein that AS has been given & the averred 'hands off' approach from the board/MB might appeal to him. I think that this was severely lacking at B City. This comment could also apply to GJ at P'borough.

One thing is for sure, the new incumbent (if there is one) has a difficult job on his hands. If the board were looking at the next 3/4 games (all eminently winnable for a decent team), then two have already been lost & even a win against Plymouth (really struggling) unless absolutely convincing, should not change the overall assessment of the season - particularly as we will have some tough games coming up - look at our last 3 if we are still in relegation trouble..

I agree with those who are sorry for a man who MAY lose his job, but his strategy this season has been baffling (this goes for periods of last season as well).

20 points from 19 games (we may need more given the strangely even state of the division this year) should not be beyond us, but a boost in confidence is badly needed if we are not to just plummet.

Manager Position

Martin Allen until the end of the season. Then if he manages to turn things around, longer. If boardroom politics prevent them from appointing the choice of most supporters and the only logical choice (sorry Les), then the board can stick Brentford up their arses. I won't be back until they're all gone :sorted:.

Brentford boss Andy Scott insisted he would crack on with the job in hand after his side were trounced 4-1 at lowly Dagenham.

Charlie MacDonald scored a consolation for the Bees with the last kick of the game, but it did little to silence the cries of "Scott out" from the visiting fans as Dagenham recorded a vital win.

Scott, whose team have failed to win since beating the Daggers 2-1 on New Year's Day, said: "We started off well again, then it got to 20 minutes and they scored from their first attack. It was the same as Saturday.

"We started the second half well, then gave a foul away and it put us under pressure.

"The goals they scored were very poor from our point of view. We had plenty of chances but couldn't put them away.

"I'll do my job until I'm told otherwise. There's no point talking about it. We're working hard to turn it around and if the fans have got an opinion it's up to them."

cannot believe the arrogance of the man! If there is not a mass protest on Saturday we might as well give up.

Manager Position

An own goal by Karleigh Osborne summed up another nightmare for Brentford boss Andy Scott as his side crashed 4-1 at Dagenham and Redbridge.

There were calls of "Scott out" from the travelling support as Brentford's winless run stretched to eight matches.

Scott said: "The fans are hurting and I'm hurting. If they don't think I am hurting as much as they are, they're wrong. I ask the fans to keep the faith.

"Four elementary mistakes have cost us here. It's driving me berserk because we have players capable of doing so much better."

I really feel like throwing in the towel as a Brentford fan! I now have the feeling he will still be here on Saturday and to be honest I have had enough.

Same gesture when we was on the coach to Torquay, he came on board and gave a 5min speech, thanked every 1 of us for travelling all that way. Can you imagine Scott doing that lol.

We need maddog til the end of the season, he would easily save us & perhaps take us near the play-offs.

Couldn't agree more, I spent 3 hours in the queue for tickets in the freezing cold during the Southampton ticket fiasco. He actually took the trouble to stop his car and talk to the fans rather than hide like everyone else did. He had a rapport that I had not seen before and definitely have not seen since. Scott seems to have to force himself to even acknowledge the fans

Well said! Already the attempts to re-write history have started, but I have no problem with the stance I took in support of Scott last season and the beginning of this one. As the evidence has changed I have gradually changed my view. Those who think there was evidence for him to be replaced last season in particular either had information that was not available to all of us or were tending IMO to see the evidence from a prejudiced perspective.

Rather than a prejudiced perspective, could it have been because of what their eyes were seeing? Last season on the whole was a right boring one, we achieved 9th but it was very stale.

Although actually, bollox. That's not what I said at all is it? What I said was, if the board choose to ignore the wishes of the masses because one or two of them 'don't like him', then they need to p*** off as well .
