Manager Position

Iain Dowie? Thoughts ......

Manager Position

I'm warming to the idea of Gary Johnson. No nonsense bloke, who knows his waya round the leagues.

Manager Position

Tonight's result is truly disasterous and unfortunately the momentum is swinging away fast from Scott and Bullivant.
Individual errors come from a lack of confidence and Brentford's desperate lack of leadership, from the manager to the captain KOC, is costing us big time. The irony is we are only a good run away from safety in this truly average division. Bees can survive, but need decent luck, strong leadership and the positive energy generated by a JPT win at Exeter to lift the season. But the feeling persists that the Scott hoof ball brand of football will no longer be accepted by the regular fans. Andy wont change the style now. Therefore we need new direction, a breath of fresh air and an injection of confidence. Starting tomorrow - new manager, renewed confidence v Plymouth, potential Wembley visit on Monday. There is a lot at stake and in tough times, brave decisions need to be made. Andy has done a fantastic job, we salute you, saved possible relegation to the Conference, unforgettable championship win at Darlington, fantastic consolidation in D1 last year, a brilliant team performance at Southampton this season. Andy - you will never be forgotten, but sometimes in life there comes a time to admit it is best for all parties to call it a day. And the players who let you down will be found out and leave in due course. It is not a one way street. You are not entirely to blame. But the buck stops wth you. The board needs to act with dispassionate strength without emotion. Now.

Manager Position

Gary Johnson
Paulo Sousa
Phil Parkinson
Glenn Hoddle
Frankie Zola
Jim Magilton?

Some of those are cloud cuckoo land I know but I just want to see some FOOTBALL played again.

Any of those would do. And I wouldn't object to MA at this point either. But that is a gamble....

Manager Position

Pay Aldershot the compensation and get Deano.

What if things go tits up for him. Could you bring yourself to call for his head? Same goes for Gary Blissett or any ex bee legend. Bob Booker Out has a certain ring to it tho.

Manager Position

That's why I can't understand why people are saying Forster. A real leap in the dark I fear.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Forster as a long term replacement but we MIGHT need someone to look after the team for 3 or 4 games so he is the logical caretaker (and he knows the players).

Forster as caretaker for a few games while we court Gary Johnson and persuade him that he knows it makes sense. Then one day in the not too distant future the Gary Johnson/Keith Millen team could be reunited at Griffin Park !

...........bloody hell, a reasoned well-thought out post - WTF are you doing on the GPG, you should be managing the club!!!............................

(but seriously, I got an email from Brentford FC Commercial earlier today, the subject line being "Brentford Needs You" - I sent it back to them, telling them they'd got my email address confused with that of Martin Allen)...................................

I'll start with the most unrealistic options to the realistic.

Woy Hwodgswon? You never know, he might apply.
Jamie Redknapp? I reckon he'd smash it!
Alan Curbishley? That would make the rest of League 1 take notice.
Gary Johnson? Posh fans have no idea what they had in him.
Martin Allen? Would upset half the squad within days, but the ones who go along for the ride will be rewarded with an upturn in form.

He would be a great appointment going into a new season. As we found out to our cost with Scott Fitzgerald, a relegation battle is not a job for a novice.

Manager Position

i like the idea of nick forster being involved
but memories of the hopeless novice that was fitz are still fresh in the memory

we cannot be complacent.
the JPT is a sideshow, staying up is what matters
experience of this level of the game is essential

if matthew benham cannot come up with a contract to tempt steve coppell
(and i believe it's worth trying) i'd turn to gary johnson

Yeah that email said our last trip to Wembley was in 1995 which of course it wasnt.

Manager Position

Martin Allen for me please  Bring back the LOVE :love2:

Manager Position

Bring back Martin Allen .... gotta feel sorry for andy scott though, he looked very upset with the "SCOTT OUT" chants

Manager Position

I think MA would jump at the chance of leading us up the table on a short term contract, he has balls and would say "if I don't do it then let me go", much better approach than a guy with no experience in management saying "I want a 5 year contract"...don't know who he is

Would love it absolutely love it if MA was manager this weekend, and I would then go to Exeter on Monday

Ginger scotsmen seem to make good managers. Can't we find one of them?

Manager Position

would forster want a coaching/manager role?

surely he is just hoping for more game time if the management is changed

I've got one of those Russ Abbot wigs.

I'd be happy to lend it to Steve Coppell or Gary Johnson if that helps !

Manager Position

There is only one man for this job - Superman (AKA Martin Allen).

Various posters suggest bringing "so and so" in for a few games to see how he gets on ? FFS we haven't got a few games to spare ! We are two points off "the drop" and have played more games than many below us ! We need someone to come in to restore confidence in the Club and produce immediate results. MA is the man to do it and we know that, given the chance, he'd jump at the opportunity. He is as passionate about Brentford as most fans are about him and he has a proven record of getting us out of this mess. Also, he would put at least a 1000 on next Saturday's gate

We know that the Board is unlikely to be too keen on re-appointing him, but for the sake of this Club they have to put their pride in their pockets and make the right decision, Gregg Dyke needs to pick up the 'phone in the morning and I bet Martin would be there by lunchtime. Make the budget that was available to Scott available to Mr. Allen and he would turn this Club around. Oh and by the way, for God's sake put the duggouts back where they belong !

Not read any of the posts but was trying to work out the home darts matches left in the local on a Tuesday. I said;

if Scott is still in charge then the pub will be empty we can play them because the crowd will be crap

if they get Martin Allen, he will immediately add 1000 to the gate and then we'll struggle

I may be wrong (but I'm not) and I think that says it all!

Wow I have never read a thread with 100% agreement. I think I like it!! Yes Maddog will turn these players into winners. Please don't wait any longer.

Manager Position

m allen may not be a favourite of the board but unless they listen to the majority of the fans this time they may still end up with sub 4000 crowds if they pick another untried numpty

In all honesty I don't think he knows what to do. I'm sure he's a good manager, his record over the past two and a bit years would suggest that, but unfortunately he's hit a wall IMO and has either lost the ability to identify the faults or to address them. He may well go on to have a successful managerial career but as far as BFC is concerned, a parting of the ways seems inevitable now.

Manager Position

End of an era tonight. Thanks for your good memories AS but I would be amazed if he is in charge Saturday. Believe he could well go on to be a good manager again in the future but anyone there tonight knows that enough is enough. It went beyond the defensible. :(

It's a shame about the rumour of MA not being in board members thoughts. It's only heresay but I hope open minds can be be applied all round.

I'm not sure if MA is the man for the long term but I'd sure like to see him have a go until the end of the season - see if he works well with the team and the board and vice versa. He would certainly add 800-1250 to the gate IMHO. We won't be in a relegation battle for long, the place would have a mega lift and it would be fun again for the fans. Such a move buys the Board time from any major knee jerk reactions and helps MA get his career going again. I expect Martin is older & wiser from his experiences.

Of course MA might not want such a deal

It seems a lot of people have been thinking along the same lines on this one. It's the one appointment that the majority of fans seem to want.

Manager Position

Unless the board have already been in touch with their preferred replacement (which would have been sensible given the last seven league games), then I think they should get MA out of bed now and offer him the job until the end of the season, with a view to extending the arrangement if things work out well.

....................some quotes from his Press Conference........................(with my reading between the lines)

"Four elementary mistakes cost us" ...................Same old, same old (except he didn't name them this time, someone has been whispering in his ear)........................

"The players need not feel sorry for themselves when they make mistakes".........................of course not, if I'm still here in the morning, I'll give them a bloody good b***ocking, THEN they can feel sorry for themselves - I'm not having that lot costing me my job ..............................

"We all make mistakes at work, you don't feel sorry for yourself, you get on with it".....................well, I exclude myself from the first part of that remark, obviously, and you know what?? - if you keep doing the same old thing, you keep getting the same results, so that's what I'll do, assuming they haven't paid me off............................

"Especially when there are people paying to watch you"........................I'm lucky in that respect, I get paid (quite handsomely if the malicious rumours spread on the GPG are anything to go by) to watch you lot, you don't think I'd be here otherwise, do you??.........................
