With an international break on the horizon no doubt our trip to Bolton will be in front of their new manager :shame

If only Reading sacked theres before Saturday, we could have been the first game for five consecutive new managers!

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Apparently, if Pardew gets the sack this season, Wenger's time at Arsenal will be greater than the combined tenures of all the other 19 PL clubs put together

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Meanwhile back with Pardew.

According to Luke Edwards, the Daily Telegraph's North East football correspondent:
"Pardew appreciates the support he is being shown [by Ashley], although there is also a suspicion the two men are involved in a compensation stand-off. Ashley does not want to pay off a manager who has six years left on his contract, while Pardew will not quit as he knows he is entitled to a large compensation package."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...obably-beyond-as-Mike-Ashley-keeps-faith.html

And according to Neil Ashton of the Daily Mail, the compensation package due to Pardew could be worth up to £5m:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...on-wants-sack-Newcastle-boss-Alan-Pardew.html

The word "could" is important, as there are clauses on both sides of Pardew's long contract, meaning he'll not get anything like £5m compensation if he is sacked.

OK, £5m or half that or whatever.

My point is that Ashley wouldn't have to pay him anything if Pardew really owed him massive gambling debts.

And Pardew's people are clearly putting it about in the Press that he's owed some sort of significant sum.

Otherwise Pardew wouldn't be hanging on in the face of such hatred from the fans etc whilst his managerial stock goes down the crapper.

And Ashley wouldn't be so reluctant to sack him, considering Newcastle's season is following Pardew down just as surely.

Perhaps Ashley really doesn't listen to fans and sticks by his guns, or perhaps, and I know this is a hard concept to grasp in modern football, he thinks Pardew is the right man for the job and he will turn it around?

I don't like Pardew and I don't like Ashley, but the longer it goes on the more I think the latter is likely.

There is no doubt that Ashley will stick to his guns irrespective of what "mere fans" think.

Equally, there is no doubt that Ashley hates paying out money if he can avoid it, including redundancy packages.

Above all, he would hate to see Newcastle drop out of the Prem, since it is widely believed that he is open to offers for them and Relegation would halve the value of the club at a stroke.

Therefore whilst he may rate Pardew higher than most, if he has decided that there's a better chance of avoiding relegation with a new man in charge, then Pardew is a "Dead Man Walking".

In which case, I wonder whether Ashley isn't thinking that such is the fans' hatred for Pardew, that sooner or later he (Pardew) will decide he's had enough, and accept a reduced package from Ashley to leave?

After all, Pardew is getting it in the neck every time Newcastle play, home and away, whereas Ashley can simply avoid going to games, as he usually does.

Oh well, time will tell.

Hard luck on all those clubs already mentioned, but all I hope is we KEEP OUR MANAGER! Just watched today's interview on Bees Player with MW, and what a class act he comes over as.
Gives a really good insight into how the players are managed from all aspects, and I cannot recall either Scott or Rosler ever being so candid. In the many years of supporting the Bees, I
do believe this man can become our best ever manager since the end of WW2. Long may we have his common sense approach with us.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Warburton up to 60th longest serving manager after 10 months

Spurs and Fulham have axed two in that time...

I agree that the gambling rumours are all but myths, when you do a quick Google no reputable news source has ever reported as much, in fact most of the information that comes back is from Newcastle forums and blogs. Also regarding the link above, if you had to pay off someones gambling debt, why would you then take them to a casino?

They have won a single major trophy in the last 60 years, so while I do feel a change in manager would benefit them, I think the abuse Pardew has recieved is very unfair. It wasn't too long ago they were in the Championship, Pardew took them to a 5th place Premier League finish.

That is incredible. Who wants to be a football manager? All the more credit to MW, especially as he has stated that he earnt more when he worked in the city!

Russell Salde is to be named Bardiff's manager this weekend..

And that I'm afraid is why managers are quick to take offers from clubs further up the football pyramid when their stock is high. That also makes MW a stand out exception for which I'm very grateful. Without any wish to cheapen his outstanding commitment to us in the face of interest elsewhere though, the fact he has been so successful in his previous career probably affords him the financial stability to allow loyalty to be the deciding factor.

It's all over Google and has had column space in red tops before speculating.
No reputable source would dare print for fear of litigation.
Pardew and Ashley are friends and Ashley helped Pardew to cover his debt to the casino where both were members.
Believe it, don't believe I care that much.

Good point made there about his possible future loyalty. Do hope he stays with us long term.

Newcastle have banned more journalists this season than they have points.

If it's true, what litigation would they be in fear of?

Ashley can do what he wants with his own money if legit and unless the papers can show how they know to be fact and prove he can sue for libel.

Remember Liberace and Elton John claiming millions in damages when everyone knew the truth but papers couldn't prove beyond doubt.

Don't know why some people so doubting, as I said I care not whether you believe it or not, just posted what I've heard from various people over the last year or so.

Maybe when he joined but not now?

Mate if he was a senior FX trader he could have been comfortably earning north of £500K per annum. Have no idea what kind of dough he is on with us.

So, less than an average Championship midfielder who is earning 10,000pw.

Colin Cooper gone from Hartlepool. Warburton upto 59th

don't think Bill kenwright was expecting to be fourth bottom after splashing out £28m on lukaku in the summer

I do like Roberto Martinez but not convinced by Lukaku - maybe he needs a partner up top. Missing young Ross in midfield

Yep Watford mate just told me McKinlay has quit to take the Fulham job

Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink to take over at Watford apparently?!

Must have been some sort of row with our owners - sure he was at Fulham but would you quit a week into a new role?

Seems a bit disrespectful but as I say like with Sannino maybe there has been a dramatic falling out.

EDIT: Talk was he didn't have a contract which is always a dangerous game in football or any business!

I'm Hearing Billy McKinlay is resigning because he didn't win WatfordFC's manager of the month competition. :D

Surely that should be Manager of the Week?

Another version of the story is that he was fired as the owner wanted another foreign manager

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Rumour is that McKinley wanted some of his own backroom staff which has been denied him. Which is strange given that Garcia was allowed to appoint him, therefore now leaving his former position vacant.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

I actually thought it was a wind-up when seeing the posts about McKinley sacked/resigning.... now Watford appoint Slavisa Jokanovic !!!

Pozzos say they wanted him to step down and bring in somebody to work above him but naturally McKinlay didn't want to do that so left.

A real shambles and shame as this disruption could de-rail our season.

Then again this guy might be the man...

Managerial Changes 2014/15

All seems a little convenient to me.

McKinley is sacked, resigned whatever and seemingly before the ink is dried on the papers breaking the story the new man is appointed

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Russ Wilcox sacked by Scunthorpe.
