See that's the thing. When BFC signed SH, the club had done its homework thoroughly and knew what it was getting. So that by the time he was finally fit and ready, the team was set up to play to his strengths. (By the same token, when he left in January and the club had no like-for-like replacement lined up, we changed the set-up to play to Vibe's strengths i.e. Canos and Jota etc).
And now we've signed Ollie W, who's more like Hogan or Grey, for instance, and less like Vibe, you can be sure the club will get the best out of him.
Whereas Bruce only joined Villa in October (i.e. after the summer window) and then signed Hogan at the very end of the January window, implying a panic buy, rather than a considered one.
And they wonder why he's not fitting in...
Meanwhile, about 18 months ago I was speaking to a former Villa player who still does some media work for them.
He confided, more in sorrow than anger, that the club was a "shambles", both on and off the field.
And he didn't seem the type to make extravagant claims.
