People like moyes and pardew should not get another top flight job....consistently getting jobs yet they've never won anything in their managerial careers and in the case of moyes been rubbish in his last 3 jobs..man u ,sociedad and now whu

Most managers have never won anything as there are limited trophies to win. Both have taken clubs to top 6 finishes so only just behind Pochettino on the not won anything managers

"Winning something" (i.e. trophies) is all relative. Neither Eddie Howe, David Wagner or Sean Dyche won anything this season, but they have been successful, since they have clearly improved their team and exceeded expectations.

Pardew clearly didn't, but considering the scum in charge of WHU, you could argue that Moyes met reasonable expectations with them, as he did for over a decade at Everton, and before that PNE.

Of course he has other blots on his CV, but I suspect he could argue that the environment at those clubs was wrong, were he prepared to speak out and tell us what he knows.

For myself, I'd say he's a decent enough manager, but needs a stable, well-run environment to work in for him to produce his best.

Whereas the very top managers manage to create the stable, well-run environment wherever they land up eg Ferguson and Wenger.

(Or in Mourinho's case, create it, then fall out with everyone and screw it up again!)

And I guess giving him a cast-iron 18 month contract, then sacking him after 6 months, so that he can walk away with £6m in his pocket, was part of that "long-term plan", too?

It’s not a sacking. His contract was only to the end of the season? (I’ve heard that before somewhere....)

Now Allardyce seems to have done better out of Everton, if he had an 18m contract.

You could perhaps (stress) justify it by saying it was solely a short-term appointment (to keep them up).

But if so, why give him 18 months, knowing that he was guaranteed the full amount even if/when he was dispensed with early?

At least WHU had the nous to offer Moyes a 6 month contract.

Both Allardyce and Moyes did a decent job in my opinion, considering where the clubs were when they took over. You can't always play 'the beautiful game' when you're scrapping for points. Neither were hired for their free-flowing football, so the clubs got exactly what they paid for imo.

All I would say to WHU & Everton is 'be careful what you wish for'.

Frank de Boer linked with Swansea, he was utterly hopeless at Palace so why do they think he will do well in the Championship? Anyway hope they do as it will remove one contender for next season.

To give him credit, he was asked to play a Barca style with an Allardyce team, and given 5 games to do so....with no signings. As soon as that summer window closed they should have got rid of him, and acknowledged that they didn't commit on their end whatsoever to the project.

He may do better at a club that will give him time, and with a few footballers who can play that style (even if half of them have forgotten).

If it doesn't work they'll turn on him, and within 3 months. He's only there for the money but we'll see how it goes. With the money WH have from the stadium it may be a matter of time before they stumble their way onto a good thing. It won't be their decisions that get them there though...more likely picking a good manager who makes all the key decisions for them and then taking all the credit.

I'm not so optimistic though, and I don't really understand why they got rid of Moyes. He stabilised them, gave them discipline and got some key players performing again. He also identified those that were causing 'issues' and took them out of play. But he didn't get top 8 with a mixed bag of players so is out...

Pellegrini took Villarreal to the Champions league semi-final on a tiny budget. He took Malaga to the Champions league quarter final. He won the Premier league with City, until he got found out lol. Ask City, Malaga, Villarreal fans what they think of Pellegrini. West Ham will love him, excellent appointment, for a change!
