Didn't the fans treat him absolutely horribly last time Steve was at Sunderland due to his Newcastle connections? I wouldn't be looking to go back if I were him...

It could also be related to the fact that they only have 13 senior players fit and seemingly no one coming in the door....

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Sunderland bound possibly?

got sacked from them a while a go, can't see it myself with Moyes getting the nod possibly..

Hull are fast turning into a laughing stock with their current owner - makes you realise how lucky we are really, having a true fan who understands football and does what is right for the club and the supporters as our owner. Nailed on to come back down next season.

From Assem Allam's wiki page:
"On 22 July 2016, Allam and his son, Ehab, decided to act otherwise in accordance with the best intentions by forcing out manager Steve Bruce. This did not come as a surprise to supporters of Hull City AFC as the pair of w a n k puffins have a history of actioning plans which negatively affect the club."

never liked Hull, as far as I am concerned they can go back to league 4 where they belong..

Heard on t/Shiite that old man Allam seriously ill and his son is in charge, son and Mrs Doubtfire don't get on. Keeper is out for 6 months and Mrs D wants the Sheff Weds one, Hull hierarchy making no attempt to sign him.

Imagine being a Sunderland supporter

Ageing and injury prone defence

A midfield reeking of journeyman like Cattermole and Larsson

Your most exciting player is in jail with his contract terminated

Your other most exciting player who stood out for Italy at the Euros, Giaccherini has been sold for just £2m

Upfront you have Jermaine Defoe who is winding down his career and Fabio "the opposite of clinical" Borini, who you keep loaning out or trying to sell at every opportunity, but the git just won't leave

Then you get David Moyes who was sacked from his past two jobs, and whose style of football is the very embodiment of the word 'dour'.

And we're upset there isn't enough red in our shirt! I know which team in red and white stripes I'd rather support.

Given your description of their current predicament, I doubt whether Sunderland supporters will be overly concerned by your allegation that Moyes's teams play dour football.
Similar could be said of Sam Allardyce's sides.
The question is whether Moyes will be effective in avoiding relegation.

Maybe. But it's a far less interesting question that where a Hull fan found the great phrase 'w a n k puffins'. Shakespeare at his best would have been proud of that one.

Kenny Jackett leaves Wolves.

Strange timing to make the announcement

Honestly I suppose that tells you all you need to know about the new owners...trying to sneak it under the carpet hoping people won't notice.

I personally hope it fails for them.

New owners prepared to spend stupid money, Jackett is a decent Championship Manager who manages within his means so he's well out of there.

By the way, Wolves a scummy club and equally scummy fans that of late I'd stopped despising because of Jackett but good news I can now hate them again!

Always liked Kenny Jackett.

Anyway, wolves have appointed Walter Zenga as their new manager. lol

I hope he finds it tough!! Some new owners have no idea about how strong the Championship is. :)

Walter zenga ....pretty much failed everywhere he's been since hanging with up his gloves! Oh dear .

Reading his wiki page seems to be the case. Can't see it ending well. 24th September will be interesting.

Back in Italy for Christmas?

I reckon they also think: second tier league, we appoint manager with first tier league experience, promotion straightforward.
They're going to be in for a nasty surprise.

How on earth did that happen?!

That must move Dean Smith up to 8th in the list of longest serving Championship managers after only eight months. Incredible.

New foreign owner....dump current British manager and replace with a "name" from abroad. Seems a common theme.

Hopefully the ending will be the same as some of the others.

Always had a lot of time for Jackett

Mad isnt it! Ive got the feeling he may be top 5 by the end of the season.

Without wanting to turn this into a big debate. I think he would do well here.

He actually wasn't doing that well the past two seasons at Wolves, considering they are one of the bigger clubs in the division.

I'd wager that Owen Coyle will be the first managerial casualty in the Championship.
My memory of him at Bolton was that they couldn't defend. I saw footage where it was clear the players were doing their job, i.e. in position as the coach wanted them, and the opposition ran through them and scored.

.....okay, postscript to that: any prediction has to allow for any Leeds manager being likely to be fired at any time.

Managerial Thread 2016 / 2017

Could never understand why Monk took the Leeds job. One more defeat and he will be in trouble.

Probably in trouble already - must be time for a change again there.

I can't understand why they would get rid of him after three matches. Just means that whoever was responsible for hiring him has not done their job properly (take note Leeds). Needs much more time in the role before you can make an educated decision. I hate the culture of instant success at all costs is a must - permeates from impatient Chairmen / owners right through to the fans on the terrace. :mad1:

For the same reason as the some of the others....they think they can be the one to break the cycle...

Except Rosler, that was desperation.

I haven't said they'll get rid of him after three matches, I've said I reckon he's a good bet to be the first Championship manager to be fired.
Then I made a point about my perception that his teams can't defend.
Blackburn's first two Championship games have been lost by an aggregate score of 1-7.
So, pretty harmless speculation on my part if you don't mind.
