Yes very common combination - surgery for this is seldom performed without antibiotic cover

Is it right sided appendicitis ? May explain poor positioning and weakness getting down to his
right hand side season to date.

Not really troubled much by a toothless Burnley attack but to be fair what he had to do he did well but he still has a tendency to make some strange decisions i.e, passing the ball across his six yard box at one point to nobody apart from the ball boy.

Pretty steady throughout.
Apart from a bit of a flap at one corner, when he was in no man's land........

Had little to do all day but came with the goods with a very decent save in the 45th minute with us 1 up.
May have been a different game then

What a surprise. People now allowing him time to get into the EPL and its pressures and realising he’s ok. Wow…….

And people also criticised Raya on his thread but wished he was back here…….

Great to see Mark do well. Give him time and he’ll be better…… patience isn’t one of our supporters’ virtues, that’s for sure.

Some really good pinpoint early long driven passes, a nice low save to his right that bobbled up last minute pushed into a safe area, well held from Cucurella’s close range scuff as well, a tidy second half (scuffed a goal kick but who cares?), I like this bloke, keep up the good work

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

Also seems he is being given more a role to take free-kicks up to the half way line (as Raya did). Lofted in a few dangerous balls in the first half

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

Was decent enough, apart from the misplaced pass, but TBH, he's not had a great deal to do these last two games (thanks today to those in front of him and due, last week, to Burnley being very poor) so not sure that he can be properly assessed on these two games.

Got away with a dodgy pass out in the 2nd half, but looking more and more confident in every game.
This is the thing, we give our GKs more freedom to play the ball and try to be more expansive, so things like this will happen.

In a 90minute game, he made 2 passing errors in my mind, but because he's the GK in the modern game we focus on this instead of the rest of his game. He was really good today, some good saves and some good distribution. Let's not focus on the odd pass here or there, please.

No real wobbles or nerves on display today. We're slowly incorporating our new boys into a solid defence. Our midfield allowed a lot of chips and through balls into the box, but our defence just about rode its luck and held firm. Must trust that Mark and the boys can maintain our upward curve (y)

Exactly this.

A solid commanding presence behind an excellent defence today. His handling was good, when called upon his shot stopping was exactly on point & his kicking - bar one shank- was exemplary.

Two clean sheets in two & confidence growing.

It's a real shame that he got appendicitis, because I thought Man Utd away (as a bit of a free hit) could really have been the game where he showed what he was about.

Strakosha did fine with the basics and dominated the box, but parried shots back into the danger zone. Technique clearly isn't quite what we need, and his kicking... not a strength. A decent no 2.

Today, Flekken showed what a solid shot stopper he is PLUS the distribution was spot on.

Raya really has spoiled us, dealing with the bread and butter stuff with ease. With time I honestly think he'll be Raya levels of solid. We all take that for granted, but handling is actually an incredible skill.

I'm a fan, and I trust the recruitment and Frank for backing him.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

I guess it's fine margins ?

Perhaps got away with his error today when he hasn't previously. ?

A couple of clean sheets will hopefully help ?

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

Bloody useless ???? He’s only kept two clean sheets in the last couple of games. That simply isn’t good enough.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

Did well........... 2 clean sheets.
Can't really do anything more than that.

Saved the only shot on target against Burnley, which was even better than I thought at the time, and didn't have a lot to do yesterday, but two clean sheets can only breed confidence, not only in MF, but in the defence in front of him.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

Defence were outstanding yesterday and that's a good sign there getting to understand each other. Jury still out with me on Flekken but there are certainly better signs. The two clean sheets won't harm him or the defence. But what an outstanding performance by everybody yesterday.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

one dodgy moment when he parried the ball back into the area , lucky no Chelsea player on hand to tap it in .When he can hold on to the ball after saving more he going to be a top top top keeper, at the moment he's just top

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

He was OK, not had much to do in the last 2 games. A couple of mistakes but hopefully the 2 clean sheets will help his confidence.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

So, what's this one? Just a precaution having been clattered, or another one out until the new year. Eff me, we just cannot catch a break.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

............... looked a nasty challenge...............

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

The West Ham player knew what he was doing and left on on him. Has to be a yellow but the ref was playing for them first half.
It was a shocking challenge. Why he wasn’t booked is beyond me

Looked like his knee. Generally if you can’t continue with a knee injury it’s ligaments or tendons. Hope not but suspect he might be out for a while

It was his thigh. A dead leg
