Very positive interview and feature on Gillette Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports at 10 to 3. Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas and Paul Merson all highly complimentary (and we also learn Merse's mate is a kitman at GP!).
Merson also referred to us as playing "total" football which was nice...

Was impressed with his I/v on sky sports yesterday and was interested to learn that the club is offering big bonuses to the players if they get us to the promised land this year, could help focus the mind at the sharp end of the season !!!

I notice you've now edited your post. It was previously just the rolling eyes I believe.
I really couldn't care less what sort of run Wigan are on. What has that got to do with my post?
My point was that the team are performing far better with a manager committed to attacking football and that the only reason that we are in this happy position is that Whelan approached our previous manager or the other way round depending on what account you wish to believe.

This is one of those rare occasions where everyone has benefited. Really proud to have MW as our manager right now. So positive. He clearly believes in his team but knows he has to keep pushing them to deliver more.

Wigan were 9 points off the play offs with 2 games in hand when Rosler took over. They are now 7 points off the play offs with 2 games in hand. I think we were third when Warbs came in, 4 points off the top. Now we are top 5 points clear of third with a game in hand. Same old Brentford, lose are best manager for decades and **** it up. :mad1:

No plan b today. For me, we were the better team for the first 15 mins of the second half. The game was quite bitty and getting physical. McCormack should have gone into the middle (Saville off) & Grigg should have come on for Trotta.

Saville was far better than Adam today who was given a bit of a lesson by MacDonald. Personally I would have also put Mac in middle and told him to get at MacDonald.

I thought Macdonald was great. Always where the ball was ( without seeming to try that hard). Real master-class. To be honest, either could have gone off for us.

I actually think MacDonalds was vulnerable and there to be got at, as he always wanted the ball but looked shaky when he got it, if we'd had pressed him as well as we did at Molineux he'd have been anonymous today

We needed more movement up front, Trotta was to static so throwing Grigg on was worth a go. We were going nowhere and disappointed we didn't try other options

When you have a £350,000 player on the bench and he doesn't warrant more than 6 mins in a game where we are losing makes me think Warbs is not that confident in him.

Whilst I understand why Farid went it does now mean that we don't have a more direct option for when things aren't working. It's definitely an issue we need to think about..... No spark or strength was available on the bench today.

After today's reality check, and with Trotta unavailable for Carlisle,
I think we'll see a new forward loan signing early next week.
You get the feeling that Grigg is not going to figure.

We seem to disagree on the midfield sonafabee, I was disappointed with George today. Didn't look to get on the ball and wasn't effective when on it. Well that is my opinion anyway.

All about opinions and today I don't agree and thought Sav tried to take the game to them and was creative around their box but Trotta and company weren't.
For me Adam was off colour, his distribution was poor and he got taught a bit of a lesson by MacDonald. For the record he's still alongside Mac my favourite player but seemed a bit lost today.

He's made they right choices in nearly every game he's managed so far. One match and one defeat, he now doesn't know when to use them? Rubbish.

Hit the nail on the head. No point in making subs if they aren't going to make the difference. Think any one of Logan, Diagouraga or Farid could have had the potential come on and positively impact the game. Didn't feel that way about any of our attacking options on the bench today.

Not written him off, I'm confident he can become a valuable player for us - but to risk him in a massive game against a big powerful Winger when we know power isn't a strong suit having never really played senior football, when we know Macca has been excellent at RB would seem silly IMO

McCormack pulled up after 20 minutes or so holding his hamstring. I thought he was going to come off. But it seems as though he was ok after a half time rub down! Maybe MW didn't want Yennaris up against a big fella like Sako? I thought Dickho was poor though.

Who knows? You're probably right but in my opinion the best player on the park was MacDonald as he had the freedom of GP- he certainly wouldn't have enjoyed the same time and space with Macca in the middle?

Remember, this is his 12th game as a manager. He came up against a very experienced and wily campaigner in Kenny Jackett. I'm sure he'll learn a lot from Jackett from today.

I thought the squad felt a bit thin today. I brought along a neutral friend, and he remarked 'That Trotta is a waste of space, he doesn't get in and challenge for anything', and it was hard to disagree, he was having a poor game. Maybe this was a day when Farid would have offered something different? Mac may have picked up a knock, certainly he was quiet by his standards, but we didn't have the option of Logan to replace him, only the unproven Yennaris. Had there been stronger options on the bench perhaps we would not have waited until just a few minutes from the end to shake things up?

I cannot agree more.We lacked a Macca in the middle to upset their formation and that was where we lost the game from very early on.
They had a rigid formation that was difficult to break down and we lacked the guile in the middle to disrupt it.Macca would have been a pain in the butt to Macdonald and co.
Saw that after 5 minutes.

Tbh, I thought Douglas performed the role you're suggesting Macca should have played extremely well today but he was the only midfielder to get amongst the Wolves midfield IMO.

Absolutely right. I prefer Mac in a midfield position, he did ok at right back today against a decent player. Dougie was one if the few to do himself justice today.

I had no problem starting with the formation we did but I'd have hooked Adam or Sav early second half today and put Mac back in middle.

Totally agree. , he would have been a linchpin second half and not saying we would have avoided the second half goals but may have paid a key part in them breaking through . That tenacious bite of him could have had a key effect .
