Will prob upset a few but wouldn't be surprised to see a midfield three of Norgaard, Marcondes and Jensen. The Three Danish Musketeers! The interplay between Marcondes and Jensen second half against Cambridge looked very promising..

If we were to revert to 4-3-3 then the midfield you suggest, with Canos, Watkins and Benrahma as the front 3 would be some attacking force.

Mathias Jensen

I agree, would probably start with these 3 in a 4-3-3 with Marcondes just behind Watkins, and the other two sitting deeper, but would swap Marcondes with Da Silva if it wasn't working. The latter would provide an alternative, more direct threat with his running and we know he isn't afraid to shoot, albeit we'd lose a bit of the interplay in the process.

Just to clarify, I'm definitely not opposed to reverting to a 4-3-3, especially as the squad and particularly the midfield is now much more balanced than this time last year, I'm just not convinced TF has any intention of doing it. I guess if Pinnock is still injured we might find out on Saturday...

Thomas Frank has said a few times this summer that we plan to flip between the formations based on the opposition. I wonder how often he does intend to revert to the 4-3-3.. It's possible that the absence of Moko/Norgaard is holding back going with the 4-3-3 for the time being. Or that it will be a 'fall back' option.

That sounds suspiciously like a plan B? Thought we didn't do those!

Still pleasing on the eye. A pleasure to watch this footballer.

Class again, Nicks the ball, very good on it, oozes class and always looking for a pass. Thought he was isolated as Noorgard was off the pace today.

Mathias Jensen

Thought 'central midfield' was disappointing generally today.
I thought Jensen was good actually. Pleased to be able to say that because he didn't overly impress me v Brum. Much fitter this week.

I thought the players themselves did well, but there was only two of them so we were frequently outgunned and outnumbered.

Jensen is brilliant IMO, but the team probably needs a third midfielder.

There was quite a difference when we went to 4-3-3, with Canós on the right, leaving the other two with less ground to cover. That seems to be a much better position for Sergi as he can run from deeper, he seems to have little end product when in the front 3.

We never went to 4-3-3, it was 3-4-3 with Canos at wing-back and Dalsgaard as the right CB

Quite possibly... it all got a bit frantic. Whatever, Jensen looked much better with Da Silva buzzing about and Sergi closer to the halfway line.

Ahh, its a shame that we can't see Championship in Denmark. I'll have to go to London and watch a game soon. Hopefully with Marcondes as well.

We are missing Mathias Jensen in FC Nordsjælland and are pleased to hear that he seems to have found back to his old level after a bad experience in Spain. When he left Denmark everyone expected to see him in the national team shortly. With his old coach in FC Nordsjælland - Kasper Hjulmand - just promoted to coach of the national team and his succes in Brentford, I hope it could happen soon.

Mathias Jensen

....good vision....great passer of a ball....tad lightweight.

Mathias Jensen

NB and GP200, chill out chaps, in the right formation he will be special. He makes time and finds space with a shimmy or a drop of the shoulder.

Kamo or Noorgard when fit do the graft and he in a very different way from Sawyers provides the creative, happy days.

It’s more about the massive gap between midfield and the front 3 that worried me, I’d like to see him 10 yards higher more often than he was today, 2 in midfield, do I like that?

Personally think we should be playing three in midfield at home, especially with norgaard sitting deep. See no reason for 3 CBs. You’d have thought Pinnocks injury would be the perfect excuse to revert to 4 at the back..

Mathias Jensen

Forshaw Pritchard Sawyers .
This lad is better than all of them and he hasn't even started yet. Absolute class.

Mathias Jensen

He's premier league class, just would like to see him in a midfield 3 with Norgaard and Kamo.

Mathias Jensen

In the first 10 minutes against Brum he gave the ball away cheaply twice and I was sceptical. Since then he has been absolute quality. He has a great variety of pass although I think he uses the floaty one too often which gives the opposition time to read and intercept. Haven’t seen many players use a chip pass as well. He creates his own time on the ball and has great vision. He was a steal and another one who will go on to the premier league - hopefully with us.

Mathias Jensen

The kind of player I enjoy watching Too good for the Championship.

I miss Sawyers already but this lad is a joy to watch. Great players find space, give themselves time and make it look easy. Yesterday at times despite not having much cover from Noorgard alongside was too good for The Championship.
Lovely player to watch and think he will be a star

Mathias Jensen

Great vision with a sweet right foot on him and some great left footed passes yesterday too.

Mathias Jensen

I thought he looked very good and is improving with each game (as are a lot of the team). Didn’t stop a guy next to me in Ealing Road opining to his mate “that’s Jensen, he’s rubbish, another one of our Danes”.

Mathias Jensen

I guess that was one of the redeeming points from a partially disappointing game on Saturday was the realisation that, bar maybe Pontus and Dalgaard who are in their prime, all the other players will improve, most significantly. They just need to do in time for us push for a top six place this season.

Totally agree 4-3-3 at home. Might get Marcondes in his best position.

you can watch one-off games for a fee through brentfordfc.com - look for the ifollow option (or when there's a match on, there should be an obvious "Live Match Centre" link).

if you find it enjoyable enough you can order the whole season, better value for money :D

Need Norgaard to be fully fit before adopting a back 4. Not fit enough as yet

Mathias Jensen

Looks an incredible signing. I was wondering if he was going to be a bit weak to win over some of the GPG "Eddie Hutch" lovers but he was brilliant, the way he pinged the ball around with both feet.

Also red button on Sky during the week shows them doesn't it?

was going to mention it but not sure if Denmark would have Sky coverage like that - probably not

Can I say that I'm really excited by this signing and enjoyed my first look of him on Saturday, I've already said that he needs to do some of his work further up the pitch, he was going sideways too often on Saturday as imo he was too deep and I also think his often chipped ball to Rico looked good but it asked Rico to show his control was good whilst being pressed as the floated ball came his way and normally meant Rico had to pass backwards. Thank you for listening but I look forward to more forward and incisive balls from an obviously hugely talented footballer.

It's becoming very frustrating thinking this both before and after each match.
I maintain we're not benefiting that much from having the three CB's (as opposed to two), and think our whole attacking play would be considerably improved by freeing up Jensen to playmake, with Kamo getting up and down the pitch as well as closing down, and Norgaard holding and providing a shield to the back four.
If Kamo's injured, I still think the switch to 4-3-3 would likely improve us, and Da-Silva might be able to do this role until he's fit.

I agree, PJ and another is more than enough to deal with a donkey like Eaves, they pressed us high and we had no midfield options to pass to, it was a hard watch for 60 odd mins.

Same happened with Birmingham, felt we should have changed earlier to a 2 at the back.
Rather see 2 at the back and 3 in midfield, especially at home and now we have Pontus.

3 centre back's is a good option for those tough away games.

I think TF is looking longer term and is trying to get the 343 ingrained and have the 2CDMs get comfortable enough with both their defensive and linking roles. Someone posted an interesting set of video clips after the Brum game showing how disciplined a unit the 3CBs and 2CDMs were.

Once this has been locked down and the back 3 have got really comfortable with their passing forward and communication with Raya, TF can take the training wheels away by going 433. But I think he’s very keen to make sure that while they’re settling down we shouldn’t be a soft touch defensively (cf his opening run of 10 games). It does mean we sacrifice some of our attacking threat until Jansen/Da Silva/Norgaard are more quickly able to push up the pitch but I have confidence they can do it. Jansen is nearly there. Da Silva has come on a lot already. Norgaard has the quality and needs game time.

Going 433 now might make us look a bit more aggressive but would leave us a soft underbelly reliant too much on PJ and with Dalsgaard and Henry used more in defence when our play really needs them hugging the touchlines and looking to be in the attacking half a lot.

Mathias Jensen

hmm, maybe @AB - but should they be two "CDMs" in that system? as numerous people have noted (and surely TF et al are too astute not to have too), the gap seems to be too large between the midfield and attack. and we don't have Konsa or Barbet capable of stepping out with the ball any more - the current CB's are much less comfortable on the ball, so we've lost that option.
