Current contract is to 2030 with an option of 12 months, so no danger of us getting screwed on the fee.

Whilst I love the idea of a “few seasons more” I think realistically this is likely to be a fleeting stay, particularly if City and the other top European teams are interested. Is going to be quite the transfer fee if he goes.

And extend it until when? We only signed him permanently in the summer, and that deal runs for another 4 and a half years, plus a 1 year option. If he wants a new contract he’ll end up on a Chelsea length deal.

He will be one of, perhaps even the best right back in the world one day. We knew his potential when we signed him, and probably were aware there’d be big 6 interest pretty soon. If he does leave, his current contract is already long enough for the club to hold out for an enormous fee.

Pay the player more with 0 extension in length to his contract, sounds like a great financial decision. Great for him, but what’s the benefit for us?

Highly doubt the 5 + 1 year deal he signed with us in the summer has him on peanuts either.

"£50m rated" is absurd and the interested clubs know it. 21 years old, became a permanent signing this year on a 5 year contract, best right back in the league this season, easily the best at long throws in an increasingly set piece heavy league, u21 international, and he's supposed to go in the summer for less than what we got for a 28 year old rat with a year on his contract?

We need Caicedo money for that. £115m is what Chelsea paid for him at 22 years old. And the market for a 6 was and still is a lot better than the current market for a RB. Anything less than £85m shouldn't even be taken seriously, especially not if we get European football this season. I understand how the new strategy to stop transfer fees permanently inflating seems to be putting pressure on the selling club in the media, goading the player and his agent to do the same, all in an attempt to buy recently signed players with years on their contracts before they get the chance to become an established name, but it is no less absurd.

Break your transfer record in the summer, or come back to us in 4 years if he won't sign a new deal.

He's definitely not a top PL player and I doubt he has the quality to become one. Flat track bully in Portugal. He's getting a reasonable number of goals but only because he's in such a good side. I'd say Arsenal have overpaid by 30-40 million.

I reckon he’d be ok if he played for us. A bit of proper coaching and a team that passes forwards would do him well.

We’ve still got Rico, Ajer and Klp and even Janelt at a push, but I agree, we’ll miss him. The opposition don’t know what Kayode’s going to do. Nor do I !
It was a very vague response from KA regarding his fitness.The bit about seeing how he is in a couple of weeks leads me to think it could be quite a while and a hamstring.
Incidentally, I wonder if the cape type overcoat the Olympic British slider ( whose name escapes me ) wore could be adapted for pre-match warmups. I notice there’s quite an incidence of players pulling some kind of muscle, tendon, etc before the k.o. This garment apparently spreads heat more evenly throughout the body so lessens the chances of a pull. ( according to the commentator ).
