Middlesex CCC

Hope we can knock over a few wickets early this morning.... we need it!

Middlesex CCC

Leicestershire 1st Innings
259 for 2 (83.3 overs)

wohoo!!

Silverwood gets his first wicket of the season.

Middlesex CCC

:bound:

Leicestershire 1st Innings
276 for 3 (88.2 overs)

Finn gets wicket number 2. Watch out for him, he will be an England international soon. FACT.

Middlesex CCC

Leicestershire 1st Innings
405 all out (122.3 overs)

About 90 runs behind, hopefully get a lead of about that by close of play tonight, but a draw is the most likely outcome.

Middlesex CCC

:D He finished with 4 wickets. I watched him play at the end of last season, why he is so good is because he is 6"8 and accurate!!! Englands Glenn McGrath!! :D

Nashy described him as the next Glenn McGrath in last week's Chronny! With the likes of Billy Godleman and Eoin Morgan coming through too, I think Middlesex can be quite proud of their academy at the moment. Another who got away, and possibly another to watch this season, is Boyd Rankin.

. . . and since when have the Middlestumpers been the biggest name in county cricket?

Not since the 1980s :(

In terms of overall success, I'd say Yorkshire deserve that accolade.

Middlesex CCC

Should be over by lunch tomorrow.

Middx lead by 19 with 5 second innings wickets intact.

Shah 49 n.o.

Middlesex CCC

Middlesex lead by 73 runs with 3 wickets remaining :(

Middlesex CCC

an 83 9th wicket partnership from Udal and Silverwood has put this game in the balance once again, Middlesex lead by 160 runs with 2 wickets remaining at lunch.

Middlesex CCC

So Leicestershire need 165 to win, but to be honest, it could of been a lot worse. Come on Finn 10/0. :D

Middlesex CCC

Leicestershire require another 152 runs with 8 wickets remaining

Silverwood with the double strike. Leics are 14/2 at the moment!

Middlesex CCC

Leics 55-3.

Middlesex CCC

...........ah well...........................

Middlesex CCC

The only way is up from here.

A nice easy game in The FP Trophy tomorrow.:sorted:

I thought they were playing Surrey at the "home of decent Cricket" ;)

Could you not detect the hint of sarcasim in my post.

As it turned out I was right.

I'd better make the most of it.

Because we congratulated you yesterday.

Enjoy your success. I'm preety confident that come the end of it we'll have more to cheer about then you guys.

I hope (but doubt) that you guys can offer the same sort of respect then.

Credit where it's due.

Good result for Middlesex against our second string attack.
I can understand them getting excited, not a lot to cheer about these days.

Middlesex CCC

Ed Joyce (29) - England international within last 12 months, former MCC ground staff
Ed Smith (30) - captain, played for Kent and did bugger all for England and Middx
Andrew Strauss (31) - current England player and former stand-in captain
Owais Shah (29) - current England player and ex-Isleworth & Syon School
Eion Morgan (21) - Irish international and former 2nd XI player
Ben Scott (26) - born in Isleworth, ex-Whitton School
Garerth Berg (28) - Stand-in foreigner for Murali
Tim Murtagh (26) - Slurrey reject, shame really
Shaun Udal (56) - Filling in the spin duties til Murali is available
Danny Evans (21) - Ex-England U-19s
Steven Finn (19) - Up and coming future England bowler?, England U-19s

i'd do the Surrey ones, but they'd all be the same.

"(38) former England disappointment, left his county for the Yankee Dollar"

You forgot about David Nash(w/k) born in Chertsey and also a Brentford supporter.

Well, let me help you then.

From Sunday's team, the heirs to Jack Hobbs / Ken Barrington / Douglas Jardine / Peter May / Alec Stewart (insert name of choice from a very long list):

Scott Newman (28): graduate of the legendary Surrey academy; left-hand opening bat; once touted as England prospect but looking a bit unlikely these days
Jonathan Batty (34); another Surrey graduate; wicket keeper and opening bat; criminally overlooked by his country
Mark Raven Ramprakash (38); a prince of his craft who had to migrate south of the river to fulfill his wasted talent
Mark Butcher (35); another graduate of the Surrey academy; ex England international and hero of Headingley in the Ashes test of 2001
James Benning (24); a prodigious talent; another graduate from the Surrey academy; a call up for England one day squad a possibility; draft him into your Fantasy Squad for the Twenty20's
Usman Afzaal (30); ex England international who has moved to Surrey to resurrect a faltering career. Scored a century on his debut against Lancashire (in DIVISION ONE!)
Chris Lewis (40); ex-England international who has come out of retirement, initially only for the Twenty20's but answered the county's SOS due to illness and injury
Chris Jordan (19); great all-round prospect; Barbadan-born, but rumoured to be interested in representing his adopted country; a possible heir to Freddie?
Chris Schofield (29); ex England international; spinner; not the first to have found a move to the Oval's legendary coaching set up to their liking; enjoyed such a late resurgence that was called up for England Twenty20 World Cup squad
Pedro Collins (22); Surrey's first (and if I got my way, last) Kolpak signing.
Jade Dernbach (22); made his county debut at only 17; fine fast bowling prospect; South African born; England qualified.

nice try... :sorted: any born in Richmond?

Middlesex CCC

your confusing bitterness with proudness.... Surrey are turning into the Chelsea of cricket more everyday.....

:sorted:

Our team are the heirs of Bill Edrich,Denis Compton, Jack Robertson, one of if not the best of Englands captains Mike Brearly, Mike Gatting, Alan Moss and John Price without delving into the records.

(I will leave that to The H  )

Middlesex CCC

I'm not bitter - frankly my view is that Surrey is my county and then there are 17 other counties, all of which I like to beat. If there is a big rivalry, I'd say it was with Yorkshire, the only county to have been more successful over the years than Surrey. Trying to pretend that cricket works like football is a bit strange, if you ask me - there are plenty of people who are members of both Surrey and Middlesex, so that they can see whichever team happens to be playing in London. But there seems to be a contingent on the GPG who can't accept that Ramprakash moved to Surrey because he felt he needed to in order to pursue his England career, when Middlesex were relegated to Division Two. Slurs about money seem motivated by bitterness to me - I can't see what else it would be - perhaps you could explain?

Why can`t the Surrey scum stay off my thread?
