As others have already pointed out, Friday games or any other games not played on the actual day of the MOTD programme are generally always last which does make sense. A lot of people will have already seen the highlights or at least the goals for those games in the news or elsewhere.

Am I right in thinking that no goals and highlights for Saturday 3pm games can be shown on on TV in the UK until MOTD have broadcast them?

No SkySports have a 3m highlight package as soon as the match finishes.

I think Sky Sports have their game of the day back this season
They can show full coverage in a 90 min with adverts show of one of the three o clocks
Its on at 830 Sat night I think

Sky sports PL have a Game of the day at 8:30pm which is a full re-run of one of the 3pm kick offs. Yesterday it was Chelsea. Could be us next week?

This was how i followed the prem, in recent years (obv paying a bit more attention now!), going through clubs' official YouTube highlight pages. There are some..... variables out there.

Anyway arsenal posted a 2min recap showing just the goals and two arsenal chances. We posted a 6min clip with some other chances, and presumably that bit extra content went over whatever the "limit" is with Match of the Day...

He was a fundamental reason we scored that goal as someone else said he should be an assist for it! Why Leno thought made sense to also hold Pontus baffles me as six of one as such and half a dozen of the other, so ref or Var would not intervene, and Pontus therefore took Leno out of the equation and he is the keeper ... there are other bees players on pitch even with Pontus otherwise occupied but only one keeper !!!
This year with new interpretation of laws of games could see some more old school English football tactics come to play which some teams and players will struggle with!!

It did make me laugh when Gary Neville said that Leno should just get Pontus out the way. 6 feet 4 of Malmö muscle, easier said than done!

It also amazed me how he nonchalantly strolled right into the 6 yard box and stood in front of him ignored by the entire Arsenal team and Leno didn't call a defender over to help :ROFLMAO:

Arsenal's video was posted on Saturday morning; Brentford's was posted the second that Match of the Day finished. the timing of the latter was explained by an "embargo" - does that apply only to Brentford? does it not apply to Arsenal too?

(per my follow-up post, i suppose clubs are allowed to post 2 minutes max the next day, and if they want to post a longer clip they have to wait until the relevant rightsholders have had their turn (e.g. Match of the Day))

Not really sure what people expected of MotD to be honest. Being a 0-0, between two clubs expected to be in the bottom half, it was always going to be shoved into the final short slot with minimal attention given to it. That would be the case with most 0-0 games, whoever was playing. I think we have been spoilt with the extremely good coverage with already received, especially the saturation levels last Friday.

It was OK coverage given high scores in other games. Thought they overhyped Gallagher as he didn’t have as much influence over the game as Murphy made out.

Agreed. Have been on last 2 out of 2 so far and no complaints with either.

Interesting article. Bit harsh, but I do agree with the point about broadening the range of pundits/guests.

And as everyone says above, just get rid of Danny Murphy!

He was also scoffing at Dean Smith getting in a set piece coach! Murphy is nearly as much of a dinosaur as Tony Cottee!

I have always assumed they have a team of backroom analysts who cover every game and actually put together the presentation for the pundits.
