I'm going to Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday, seeing as I'm at uni here and can't get to Colchester in time. Hopefully it will be another good game for Elder and the other Brentford wombles, as well as Chris Hargreaves.

Elder was sacrificed after AFC went down to 10 men. He did OK and charged everything down, but never got the service to have any real chances. There was one opportunity when a cross came in and his pressure led to the defender heading against his own bar, and his hold-up play also resulted in a couple of good chances in the first half. He didn't look as good as he was for us, but he still looked a class above Conference level and hopefully he'll get his chance back in League 2 whether it's with Shrewsbury, Wimbledon or someone else.

Poole was Poole, and played well in patches. He had one of his usual ambitious volleys from 25 yards (well saved), but was ineffective towards the end of the game when he moved to a more central role.

Johnson and Montague were injured, and Seb Brown was on the bench.

Hargreaves bossed the midfield for Oxford, and very few of Wimbledon's chances came from central midfield. He also played well going forwards, and probably was the 3rd best player on the pitch, after Sam Deering (Oxford's 4ft right winger) and James Constable (though the defending for Constable's goals was atrocious).

That seems a bit severe.Dont they have any lambs or virgins around there?

They would have used a womble but they were all on litter picking duty

Wil be back in the Football league next season. Suspect Shrewsbury will need to use him again and he might flourish particualrly if there is a new management there.

What do AFC fans know about anything....if they said it was Tuesday I would go and check the calender....YOU REDS....lol

They are all a bunch of bloody hippocrites(sp) they were slagging H&RBFC of last season for playing hoof ball when the club they walked out on made a living out of it.

How much bad luck can one player have?

Nathan Elder

You sure that 'player' is quite the right word here?

Did the job for us last year.

If you want to know why he isn't the same player can I suggest you speak to Pablo Mills?

Is it our fault your ex manager thought he was a "cheap" replacement for Holt?

Someone certainly needs to be brought to book under the Trade Description Act - that's for sure!!

Why don't you just shut up? I'm fed up of you abusing Nathan, the guy has already battled back from one serious injury, and now has another, I think he's been through enough, and further more he's a throughly nice guy. If you don't like him thats up to you but please stop slagging off a player who we have fond memories.

Prehaps you should take up your issues with your board for the money they paid or your then manager who signed him, or at least discuss Nathan on your own board if your going to slag him off.

Always nice to take a cheap pop at someone when their career could be in doubt

Sounds to me like you had a sh*t team, sh*t manager and a sh*t season. Perhaps you should be apologising to him for making false promises.

Too busy planning for next season's away trips to Morecambe and Burton

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Nathan.

Here's the best offer you're gonna get this year - **** off back to your little hovel in Shrewsbury. "FanInPeace"? My arse. Elder's just done his cruciate and all you can do is come on here, gloat and take the piss. I don't blame NA not wanting to play for your sh*thole of a club if you're typical of the support he got

Feel sorry for the lad. Hope he gets back playing quickly. Glad Simpson has gone, was appalled at how publicly he barracked Nathan. A good manager should never do that. Nathan and Damien Spencer always welcome back to GP for the pain the suffered getting us back into League 1.

maybe shrewsbury is so full of sh*t that their medical team have got it wrong and afcw were right. if i were nathan i'd get a third opinion.

hopefully that **** simpson gave him a nice lengthy contract and your two-bob club will still have to pay him if he is out for ages. previously, he probably would have taken a pay off of about £3.50 to walk away from your dump of a club. i just hope he gets better by the end of the season, joins another league 2 club and scores the goal that sends you down to the conference.

bye.

We've all criticised our own players, rightly or wrongly, at some time. I'm sure some of us have cheekily expressed hope that one of our players may pick up a knock or a suspension before a crucial game, if we think that player is a bit of a liability. But I hope we all have a little bit too much class to ever smirk and find amusement at the idea of one of our own contracted players picking up a serious ligament industry.

Some extremely vile posts by the Shrews "fan" in this thread.
