Cracking entertainment.

Cheerleaders...I would (apart from one of the 24) Sadky, they all wouldn't.

83,000 there. What is it with people wearing shirts from other NFL teams at the game? lol

8 touchdowns. One ruled out. One not given, then given. One given, challenged, and upheld. Lots of referees, lots of yellow cleaning dusters thrown about.

The bit I liked were "Team warm ups sponsored by ..insert credit card company name" :rolleyes: Soooo USA

Oh yeah, and shame on you British fans who, firstly stood for, then sang the American Anthem. :nono:

Mind you Joss Stones version of the Natonal Anthem was a bit minging. Bet she got about £10k for that 30 seconds!

Mr Brees you are very good. Mr Rivers, you are crap. Seriously. I thought you had won a competition to play in the match.
Good Company and had a tour of Hounslow on the way back after dropping of one of Silly Chip's friends.

Great to see Brentfords most fertile fan again :)

Rivers is the top rated QB this season, and has more TD's than anyone else. Plus his hail mary was nearly caught in the end zone at the end, would have been a memorable comeback.

Great game though, it was what London needed, hopefully they can choose two more offensively orientated sides for next season.

Neither side has the look of a team that can make the Superbowl though.

and no, Mr Rivers isn't crap, he just didn't play as well as Mr Brees.

Merchandise highly expensive....and each Squad had about 50 players. All who warm up. How do they all get in the changing rom? :shrug:

For once the NFL gave us a decent game of Football ... Chargers looked dead and buried at one point and did really well to get back in within 7 points near the end .... the funniest moment was when the Chargers player intercepted Brees with about 1 min to go , then got a penalty for over celebrating, then the interception was challenged and overturned and there was flags and penalties all over the show lol

And you cant beat a good hail mary to finish a game :sorted:

Incidently ... I watch the BBC coverage instead of Sky for a change and I thought they did a pretty good job .. they kept it simple and not patronising like I thought they would and Jerry Rice was a good summariser and no advert breaks !

Great game, stayed right to the end.

Thought the Saints would struggle without Bush so put Rivers in my Fantasy team this week. Doh

Plenty of action unlike last year. Unless somebody is being ironic with 69 points and around half a mile of total offence how much offensive intent would you like.

How good would it have been if the tactic of the deliberate safety had backfired on them. I've seen QBs step out to avoid a sack but never run 26 yards backwards to lob the ball over the bar!

Only down side was waiting for 45 mins to get into the station. I thought they claimed to have sorted out the transport

You think having no onions is bad, how about a carvery running out of meat and then saying the wait for the freshly cooked stuff was 30 mins or a burger van selling quarter and half pounders running out of half pounders and refusing to put two quarter pounders in instead.

Checked out the prices inside the stadium, pie(no chips) and a pint £7.60!!

He didnt taunt the other players, from what I could see. What about when players jump into the crowd? Isnt that overcelebrating? :shrug:

One of the NFL teams are staying at Pennyhill Park the next two years, so they are serious about raising their profile in the UK. We had some Germans behind us who left after the 3rd Quarter. To catch a plane, perhaps?

Same reason going to ground or using the ball as a prop when celebrating is unsportsmanlike conduct.

I thought he had celebrated with his bench, worked out a bit costly when the call got overturned though

Completely daft if you ask me. Which one of our managers a few years back said it was the players duty to incite his teams supporters when we had a player booked for celebrating a goal at Chesterfield?

Talking of safeties, did anyone see the comical one that Pittsburgh conceded? It was like watching the early days of the BAFL.

The reserve long snapper snapped the ball over the head of the injured punter, who hobbled after the ball but couldn't stop it going out of the back of the end zone. You'd think in a squad of 50* there'd be two guys who can punt and two who can snap a punt.

* I have no idea how many players are kitted up on the day.

No but I will search for it on the highlights on the NFL site.

Long snapping, believe it or not, is almost a skill position but I would have thought they could have stuck the place kicker back there.

Cant remember the number of active players allowed but the number 45 springs to mind

He intercepted the pass and got up and when he realised that the ref acknowledged he caught it cleanly he then did some kind of somersault/dive to the ground in celebration .. then the Saints challenged the call and when checking the replays the tip of the ball had touched the ground so it was classed as an incomplete pass rather than an interception .. he got a 15 yard penalty that lol

Pennyhill Park is on the A30 inbetween Bagshot and Camberley ... its an expensive hotel/spa where only the likes of Markybee can afford ;)

Had the same problem when I saw the Giants-Dolphins game last year, they ran out of food at Half Time, criminal really considering its a A list event.

With regards the coverage BBC's was good but how dumb were they to only televise half the game on BBC2, then switch over to BBC3, not everyone has digital yet !!!

It's the one chance a year when all UK-based NFL fans can come together and show their allegiance and I think it looks great with all 32 teams represented - although I didn't see a Lions top all day.

Who's going to win the AFC this year?

Tennessee didn't look so all-conquering on Monday night. Their unstoppable running game was held to 90 yards by Indianapolis (ranked 26th in rush defence). Tennessee won it 31-21 to go 7-0 as a result of 2 interceptions and some good 3rd down passes by Collins.

Buffalo and New England are 5-2, but still have to play each other twice. Like Tennessee, they have quite easy schedules.

Pittsburgh are also 5-2 with a tougher schedule, those 2 defeats coming to the Giants and Philadelphia. If they can get their team fit and protect their QB a bit better, I think they'll be the ones going to the Superbowl.

The problem is like soccer you can only play whats in front of you and with the possible exception of Indy so far what has been put in front of the Titans hasn't been very good.

Having said that the usual suspects will make the play offs although at this point all AFC roads to Tampa pass through Tennessee so that is my prediction.

As for the NFC the East and the South look quite strong but I think the Cowboys will need to find their form to have a chance. Don't rule out the Packers

Yeah, saw a Chiefs shirt at the unofficial tailgate party at the Green Man.

Hard to look past the Titans for the AFC at the moment. I keep expecting them to stumble but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Yes mate "we do love football" but only a minority like Gridiron :rolleyes:

Think they's still get 30-40 thousand if they played regularly at Wembley, depending on prices. The London Leopards?

Talksport were talking about it tonight, saying that they wouldn't think that they would be allowed to play eight games at Wembley, to which Ian Wright came back with 'They could take England games back on the road.

The thing is ... this talk of London having a NFL franchise pops up every time a game is played here .... The would could is significant .

When a reporter asks an NFL official if it could happen .. he isnt going to say "f***off .. your kidding right ?"

I think its a polite answer ... there must be some serious financial terms and conditions attatched to setting up and owning an NFL franchise .. maybe California Bee or someone could enlighten us ??

Went to the game Sunday at Wembley on Sunday with Kevalutonbee. :beer:

Predicted a high scoring game before hand and wasn't dissappointed. :D

A great game which wasn't hard after last years syncronised swimming event! :banghead:

Much better organised all round than last year. :sorted:

Champagne moment for me was when the Head Zebra didn't know where the reply booth was when the first "coaches challenge" came and was running around as if he was just about to be taken out by a lion trying to find it! :bound:

Minus point again is getting to/away from the stadium. Three Premier league games plus the NFL on a Sunday in London so what does TFL do shut the Victoria Line completely for engineering works, and have a reduced service on the Circle, Jubilee & Met lines. :nono:

An hour from leaving my seat to getting on a tube at Wembley Park is a joke. Twickenham, the Emirates and the Millennium Stadium can all clear quickly, so why not our national stadium? :suspect:

I just can't see the idea of a London franchise materialising to be honest with you. There'd be too many logistical problems to overcome and perhaps more importantly it wouldn't be profitable in the long run, in my opinion. There's more chance of LA getting a franchise and I wouldn't say that it will happen anytime in the near future.

I just reread my previous post ... I made a word mistake ! .. I meant the word "could" is always bandied about by NFL officials .. its never you will get an NFL team !

Your right Scratchy .. cant believe LA does not have an NFL team .. Got the Raiders and then lost them and lost the Rams too !!

I cant see London ever having a team ... I think the support is there for one NFL match a year but not 8 matches over 16 weeks ... look at the London Monarchs .. their first year in the World League was popular, but the interest faded after that.

Just checked my score and position for week 8. Well Impressed, scored 113 point which put me joint 156th on the weekly list which is an all time record for me. Another 4 points would have put me in the top 100!:):sorted:

I picked the 49ers' JT O'Sullivan - he got benched in the first half. 4 measly points. :cry:

Then I was cheering on Chris Cooley's 77yds, but later discovered I'd swapped him for Jeremy Shockey in a drunken Saturday night trade. My only Wembley player and he scored a big fat zero. :cry:

Fortunately my wide receivers saved the day to give me 97 points this week, 657 total. Puts me 20 points outside the top 100 overall. :)

I'm relying on Arizona's passing game at St Louis this week.

I spent the whole game at Wembley cursing the fact that I had picked Rivers over Brees and then found out their passing stats were 2 yds different and from a fantasy point of view the intentional safety cost a point

Yes and no. We did it after leaving the Emirates but it was a Springsteen gig. Took about 15 mins to get into Arsenal station from leaving the seats

I see Mr Payton has had a winge about his experience of the trip to London, now he is safely back in Louisiana. Goodness knows what he would have said if they lost!

He's probably right on a couple of areas, namely losing homefield advantage could have affected the outcome and while the pitch was better than last year it still leaves a lot to be desired (especially for a team that plays on astroturf at home).

Didn't understand his comments on the logistical problems though; is it that different to a road trip in the States? Plus I'm sure the NFL will be doing all it can to iron these out further for the next two teams to come over.

Re travel after the game. I left straight after the interception (could have been a costly mistake if that hail mary had been caught by a Charger :eek:) but got straight on a tube that left within 5 mins and was home in Croydon (even without the help of the Victoria Line to get me to Victoria station) 75 mins after leaving my seat. And that was with a Sunday service on the trains. :sorted:
