I see Mr Payton has had a winge about his experience of the trip to London, now he is safely back in Louisiana. Goodness knows what he would have said if they lost!

He's probably right on a couple of areas, namely losing homefield advantage could have affected the outcome and while the pitch was better than last year it still leaves a lot to be desired (especially for a team that plays on astroturf at home).

Didn't understand his comments on the logistical problems though; is it that different to a road trip in the States? Plus I'm sure the NFL will be doing all it can to iron these out further for the next two teams to come over.

One logistical issue he may have been taliking about might be the dressing rooms. At the stadiums in the States they can cater for 40+ players plus the coaches etc. Bet the ones at Wembley can't

No. That's what the executive coaches from Clarkes with the curtains drawn were for! :D

Wonder where the Saintsations changed? :fishing:

Probably couldn't work out why the stadium wasn't full of flotsom & jetsom from broken levees, rotting fish and homless people and didn't have enclosed roof! :fishing:

You could make a pretty good NFLUK fantasy team for the minimum outlay of 8 million this week:

QB Kyle Orton
RB Chris Johnson, Matt Forte
WR DeSean Jackson, Eddie Royal (or Steve Breaston, Devin Hester)
TE Zach Miller
K Matt Prater
D New York Giants

I picked most of those duffers, Orton was taken off injured :(

Did you pick Brady in week 1 as well? Are you the kiss of death for quarter backs?

Anyway, my minimum wage team has already scored about 80 points, and the Giants defence are still racking them up.

Well I did not pick Zach Miller, Oakland only managed 10 yards of passing all games, shameful stuff and a new low for them

NFL 08

Well my minimum wage team finished up with 85 points, my actual team only got 76. :(

Pick Kurt Warner, they said. And Owen Daniels. Did I listen?

Dallas got done again last night :(

4 defeats in 6 now for the "SuperBowl Favorites" ... and the 2 wins were totally unconvincing victorys .. Jerry Jones wont be too happy after shelling big time in the close season :mad1:

Watched the first half on Sky last night .. Manning and the Dallas back up QB kept getting sacked , fumbling or being intercepted .. it was crazy ! lol

NFL 08

The Sunday night game was far more sedate - just 2 turnovers, no sacks and 20 yards of penalties.

Indianapolis beat New England 18-15 in a very tight game, which was decided by a stupid personal foul with 4 minutes left. The Patriots had just got into field goal range to tie the game when a late hit pushed them back 15 yards. :banghead:

A couple of bad coaching decisions and a missed catch for a certain touchdown didn't help either.

Another Sunday late night game for New England in 4 weeks. I'll be there with my cheese and olives and a bottle of red.

The Thursday games start this week, so get your fantasy teams in early.

NFL 08

Congratulations to Brett Favre for becoming the first QB to throw 300 career interceptions last Sunday. He also moved into sole possession of second place on the all time fumbles list & should have the record by the end of the year :sorted:

NFL 08

Scored a measly 53 points this week. Mind you due to operator error I played with last weeks team which had Rivers at QB, LT at RB, Henderson at WR and Gates at TE!!

NFL 08

Only scored 76 points, thanks Kyle Bloody Orton !

:imwith: We must've had an identical team. This week I've gone for:

Rivers QB
Sproles and Jones-Drew RBs
Coles and Steve Smith WRs
Fassano TE
Elam K
Panthers D

NFL 08

I got 76 too! Orton, Greg Olsen, Lee Evans and John Carney the culprits. This week:

Warner QB
Peterson, Parker RB
Roddy White, Camarillo WR
Gates TE
Carpenter K
Jets D

No doubt the team I rejected will do better (Rodgers, Brown, DeAngelo Williams, Jennings, Boldin, Gonzalez, Kasay, Steelers)

NFL 08

Thanks to the NFL UK web site update I've had to re register and set up another team. Anyway enough of my whining here's my team for this week.

QB: Cutler (Denver)
RB: Tomlinson (San Diego)
RB: Turner (Atlanta)
WR: Edwards (Cleveland)
WR: Jennings (Green Bay)
TE: Boss (New York Giants)
K: Kasay (Carolina)
DEF: New York Jets

It'll do.

NFL 08

Cleveland 30 Denver 34

QB: Cutler (Denver) 25pts
.
WR: Edwards (Cleveland) 1pt :D
.

And I thought Denver were a spent force.

Cutler passed for 447 yards and 3 touchdowns, all 3 in the 4th quarter!
Eddie Royal, 164 yards including a 93 yard touchdown reception.
Kellen Winslow, 111yards and 2 touchdowns.
Braylon Edwards didn't join the party. :grey:

Forty Niners lose narrowly but looking better

The Niners lost narrowly as Frank Gore stumbled just short of the line 4 seconds from the end with what would have been the winning touchdown against Arizona.

NFL 08

I'm surprised people included Braylon Edwards in their fantasy teams. He may have been a quality player the last 2 years, but all he has done this year is lead the league in dropped passes. Derek Anderson is a little unlucky in losing his job as his targets haven't been great - Jurevicius & Stollworth have been out injured most of the year, Edwards has been horrible & Winslow showboats but doesn't deliver.

It looks a bit strange that the 49ers only managed 2 plays (and a spike) from 1st and goal. Jason Hill was brought down on the 1-yard line with 45 seconds left. Surely there was time to get the players upfield and have 3 or 4 attempts at the end zone?

Were they out of time outs?

Note to Singletary/QB. Improve clock management

Agree that Edwards hasn't delivered, especially with his drops etc. Looking at the Browns schedule this year I didn't expect him and Anderson to his last season's heights. It is a tougher schedule this time around.

But I have Edwards in a keeper league and still believe he is a quality player. I'm hoping the Browns bounce back next year or Edwards is traded elsewhere and becomes a threat for years to come.

Yes, they were out of time-outs. I thought the last call, run by Robinson, was uninspires and poorly executed. Frank Gore is the man to make two yards in those circs. It was a nice drive and deserved the points.

NFL 08

Somehow managed 128 points this week. I think that may be my all time high, just missed out on the top 100 again

NFL 08

I think they've screwed up the points this week. They've given Dan Carpenter 17 points when he only kicked 3 extra points! 117 points when I was expecting about 105.

What about the rest of you? By my reckoning Scratchy should have about 99 and Guildford Bee should have about 84.

NFL 08

Close but no cigar

They worked it out that I got 98 points this week. Not bad.

California Bee> It would appear as though Martz and Singletary weren't exactly "on the same page" last night. Do you reckon Martz's days in San Francisco are numbered?

Singletary is definitely "the man" and he has injected new enthusiasm and determination into the team so you may well be right.

Martz seems to rely on the throwing game too much for San Francisco, especially with their weak QBs and not the best receiving corps.

NFL 08

This is a bugger having to pick your team on a Thursday. Last week I was expecting big points from Willie Parker and he didn't play. This week Frank Gore and Michael Turner are on the injury lists, but might have mega-games if they play.

Another one who may or may not be injured.

I'm sure it's a mistake not picking Gore, but...
Kurt Warner,
DeAngelo Williams, Matt Forte
Anquan Boldin, Roddy White
Tony Gonzalez
Neil Rackers
Carolina D

You probably did better than Guildford Bee.

I think I got a healthy 116.

Pittsburgh 11-10 San Diego

The first time in NFL history that this final score has been recorded!

Does anyone know the lowest total aggregate score (ie 9-8, 10-9) that has been recorded in football (soccer for the over the pond)?:fishing:

I thought it ended 17-10 following the busted trick play?

The Steelers and the Phins played a Monday night game last year that was during a torrential downpour and the first and only score was a FG approx 2 mins from the end.

If memory serves me correctly it was the longest spell that a game was scoreless in NFL history

NFL 08

I couldn't understand why that last touchdown was called back. I think the refs just wanted to go home.

Wasn't there a Superbowl that ended 6-0? I bet there have been CFL games that ended 0-0, cos it's pants.

Has any team ever scored 4 points in a game?

After Rivers' initial pass to LT (?) the ball went forward on what looked like a lateral pass. This forward pass took place across the original line of scrimmage which meant the play became dead before the fumble and before Polamalu picked it up and rumbled into the end zone.

NFL 08

Fame at last! I'm 79th overall. :bound:

Taking a bit of risk this week by relying on the Tennessee passing game - Justin Gage and Bo Scaife.

102 Points this week, let down badly by Mewelde Moore (Parker was back) and Dallas Clark. 2444th overall

Martz seems to rely on the throwing game too much for San Francisco, especially with their weak QBs and not the best receiving corps.

Dallas 35-22 San Francisco 49ers had 303 yards passing, only 26 on the ground today! Tony Romo had a few more though.

Miami 28-48 New England :bound: Another stonking game from Matt Cassel. The way he concentrated on the receiver, not the pass rusher, reminded me of my hero Steve Grogan. It's only the decimated defence stopping New England from having another big season.

Tennessee 13-34 NY Jets  I hate the Jets.

Baltimore 36-7 Philadelphia  Zero points from the Eagles offence! 108 yard interception return from Ravens safety Ed Reed to seal the win. (video)
