Who do you like this year? Who is your team? Who are you drafting for youe fantasy team?

NFL 08

Training camp has started! Even Favre is ready to come out of retirement, the off-season has been so long!;)

NFL 08

Not long now. Favre trading to the Jets today. Bad moved for all concerned I think. They're very ordinary and I don't think Favre on his own will be able to change that.

NFL 08

Clemens and Pennington must be pissed off.....! Shame they didnt show they could handle a starting QB position when they had the chance.....

Forty-niners still prospecting for gold

I love the 49ers but can't see much hope of them ending their lengthening miserable performance streak. The only things going for them are that Mike Martz is the new offensive coordinator and they signed Isaac Bruce to strengthen the receiving corps along with the return of Vernon Davies. Patrick Willis will continue to shine on a defence which has lost perennial all-star Bryant Young to retirement. Other than that they still have the good fortune to play in the weakest NFL division if they do manage to get their act together and find a quarterback who knows how to play.

:imwith:

Favre is not the answer to the problematic QB position for the Jets.

What fantasy league? Is there somewhere we can get a mini-league going, or whatever they're called?

I think we (49ers) will do well to win more than 5 games this season. Alex Smith will be dumped at the end of the season.

I think the Cleveland Browns will make the Superbowl this time around, they look an awesome side but have the tough Patriots and Colts to overcome on the way.

Cannot see the Giants repeating on the other side, perhaps its time for Dallas to make the Superbowl again ?

The two times I have seen the Niners play was here at Wembley. The first game they lost to the Dolphins and a couple of years later they lost to the Cowboys. I would make the effort to go to Candlestick Park but I find that watching Brentford takes up most of the weekend.

Both good and bad to see that they are leaving the 'Stick. I was there in 1990 to watch the Giants play in a baseball game. Great stadium but starting to show its age just like GP.

Sad news indeed, I was fortunate to visit the Stick back in 2004, on opening day when the 49ers lost to the Vick led Falcons. Truly memorable day :-)

Just wish the team could recover to some of its former glories.

I support whoever is playing the Rams on any given Sunday. That makes me the 49ers' biggest fan twice a year. Me bitter? Ooh, yes!! :sorted:

There seem to be a couple of significant rule changes this season: (nfl.com)

- The 5 yd "accidental face mask" penalty has been removed.

- The "forceout" rule has been removed. ie you have to land with both feet in bounds again, no more "would have landed in bounds".

Also, one defensive player can have a helmet radio. I guess that means 2-way communication.

Is anyone else doing nfluk.com fantasy league? It's easy enough but a bit stupid, as you can change your entire team each week. And there's a few players mysteriously missing - I tried to pick Benjamin Watson (NE) and Earnest Graham(TB). And there's no mini-leagues. Got to get your teams in by 11pm on Thursday, UK time.

I've picked a fantasy team on there. I think to stand any chance you will have to change your team week on week so I may lose interest pretty quickly. Looking forward to Thursday night.

Nurse....my pills please

Ok it's time for my annual incorrect prediction. :D The AFC will be won by the Colts, who will beat the Chargers. The NFC will be won by the Redskins who will beat the Cowboys. Superbowl will be won by the Colts. :crazy1: As for the Patriots I reckon we'll struggle to make the playoffs. :( The aging defence might prove our undoing this season. We'll see I guess. Still at least we'll be able to console ourselves by watching old man Favre fail miserably at the Jets. :sorted:

As for my NFL UK fantasy team this week I have gone for the following

QB: Rodgers (Packers)
RB: Addai (Colts)
RB: McFadden (Raiders)
WR: Moss (Patriots)
WR: Crayton (Cowboys)
TE: Clark (Colts)
K: Stover (Ravens)
Defence: Broncos

There's still an hour and a bit left if anyone wants to enter the competition. :sorted:

NFL 08

I've backed Jacksonville and Cleveland

:apple:

The Browns are a decent enough shout but I'm not sure whether Derek Anderson will do as well at QB as he did last season. Not too sure whether Brady Quinn is ready to step up should Anderson get injured/fail. As for the Jags well I just get the feeling that they will take a step backwards this season. The Titans may be a better bet in that division.

NFL 08

Although I am keen on American Football I haven't got a team to follow.

Can anyone give me any good reason my I should follow any particular team?

NFL 08

I follow the Minnesota Vikings as they follow the Brentford model very faithfully, promise lots and deliver very little, except heartache.

NFL 08

Cincinnati Bengals for me ever since Super Bowl XXIII in 1988. When NFL enjoyed popularity in the late 80's all my friends at school (we were 6yo at the time) supported the 49'ers due to Montana and Jerry Rice. Just like picking Brentford when they all supported Arsenal or Liverpool, I went for Cincinnati in that year's Super Bowl.

Needless to say the 49'ers won with Montana completing to Rice to set up the winning score with seconds remaining. Since then the Bengals have been pretty dog, although on a lighter note, it is quite funny that wide receiver Chad Johnson has changed his name to Chad Ocho Cinco. Clearly felt he wasn't keeping up in the ridiculous names stakes.

NFL 08

Cowboys for me(and the Superbowl) because when I was a kid somebody bought me a sweatshirt with the logo on

Put a team in the NFLUK fantasy game as the TW8 Cowboys

NFL 08

I follow the Patriots because of Steve Grogan, who was their ageing QB when I started watching NFL 25 years ago. I wouldn't recommend taking up with a team on the decline though. I think you should follow Detroit, the only way is up for them.

NFL 08

Tim Krumrie's broken leg :yuck:

At the time was a little young to stay up to the wee small hours so my parents taped SB XXIII for me. Having watched it themselves they didn't allow me to see the play during which it happened (or the 35 replays while the announcers tried to work out what had occurred).

Can only find photos: http://www.manlyweb.com/sports/injuries/krumrie.htm

Apparently, he got a rod inserted and played the following season and five more after that. Now defensive line coach with Kansas.

NFL 08

And California Bee still won't accept that Cincinnati would have won the game easily if Krumrie hadn't got (sorry, gotten) injured. :fishing:

I started supporting the Colts just after the last players strike - I assumed any team that went 0-8-1 could only get better & I didn't want to be a gloryhunter like the Redskins, Cowboys, Dolphins & Raiders fans of the time. At that time there was no way Channel 4 would show the Colts so the only coverage I'd get was on the American Forces Network radio station. Their running back combination of Curtis Dickey & Randy McMillan were good, the rest of the team weren't.

If you are a masochist you could try supporting the Cardinals, the team has a historical allergy to the playoffs (I think 1 win in about 60 years) but look to have some potential for the first time in ages.

Started following the Cowboys around '83 as I have family there .. Tony Dorsett was the running back at the time .. had to wait about 10 years for them to do anything ... never seen them at Irving Stadium but was at Wembley when they played the Bears in what I think was the first exhibition game over here. I see they are fancied for the Superbowl this season.

Just like Simon T ... I used to listen AFN on a Sunday night to get my NFL fix .. that was when C4 used to show highlights of a match from the previous weekend :(

Looking forward to the Sky coverage this season :sorted: GO COWBOYS :bound:

NFL 08

Just watched last night's game. Redskins got everything they deserved - nothing. Some shocking play calling there and no apparent desire to move things down field.

Cowboys fan BTW. Must admit I started off as a Raiders fan a few years back but switched when I ordered a shirt and the supplier cocked up and sent me a Cowboys jersey!

Help us

Tom Brady's been injured. Let's hope it's not too serious but Cassell is in the game and that's bad news for the Patriots.....although as I say that he's just hit Moss with a 51 yard pass. :sorted:

CBS say Brady is "questionable" for the rest of the game. :(

NFL 08

CBS say Brady is "questionable" for the rest of the game. :(

:( for New England, and :( for my fantasy team.

Still, Michael Turner scored me 24 fantasy points in the first quarter :bound:

And Cassell to Randy Moss for 6-0 New England :bound:

NFL 08

They're saying Brady's got a torn ACL (ie see you again next preseason Tom) in the Boston Globe today. Without him they'll win about half their games. Cassells played all the pre-season and was shockingly bad.

The media are seemingly touting Chris Simms as a replacement. Should make Mr Simms Srs "commentary" on Pats quite interesting

NFL 08

Good game on Sky last night ... Detroit Lions came back from 21-0 to lead 25-24 with 7 mins to go against the Packers ... only for Detroits John Kitna to throw 3 interceptions in 5 mins which were all returned for TD's and ended up getting hammered :D

Big game tonight in Dallas against the Eagles :sorted: ... Go Cowboys :bound:

Nearly as wild as the Broncos v Chargers which I wish I had watched all the way through rather than waiting for the Pats/Jets game to come alive.

Chargers were 21-3 down at one point, owned the second half and led 38-31 with not much time left. Broncos finally won after going for a 2pt conv try with 24 seconds left to win 39-38

NFL 08

I think the red button games last night were better than the main ones - the Colts took the lead in their game for the first time 3 seconds from the end :sorted:

Their game against the jaguars next week could be ugly - I think both teams combined would struggle to come up with 10 healthy offensive linemen right now so there should be lots of hurried passes & QBs/RBs getting hit behind the line of scrimmage.

NFL 08

A real shootout at Texas Staduim, had it not been for the McNab/WestBrook fumble I think the Eagles would have won this one.

Nice to see the niners win at the Seachickens. Think the NFC West is there for the Cardinals to finally win the division.

Suprised to see the Browns do so poorly.

Just watched the scoring highlights on the NFL website. Looks like quite a game.

What if Romo hadn't botched the hand off and ultimately the Cowboys had scored off that drive?

Judging by his reactions I think the rookie WR was mighty thankful to Mr Westbrook

NFL 08

It's wide open this year, isn't it? Eagles and Cowboys should be there or there abouts, and I think the Broncos will only get better and better. How well has the decision to take Cutler from Vandy played out compared to Leinart and Vince Young!

It's strange watching my Pats without Brady. Cassell can manage some games, but I really want to see how some of the rookies do- Mayo looks the business, but it would be nice to see the new QB, Wheatly, Whihite etc Perhaps when we are pounding the Dolphins, we can blood some of the youngsters!

Be interesting to see what he does this weekend.

Belichik looks like he has a game plan that says unless it is Brady I am going to be ultra conservative which normally means run, run and a bit more run except rumour has it Moroney and Jordan may both be game time decisions

NFL 08

Lucky for New England they don't come up against a good defence until week 10.

Now, should I pick Michael Turner (v Kansas) or Reggie Bush (at Denver) at Running Back this week? Or maybe Sammy Morris if Moroney and Jordan are injured.

NFL 08

Miami win 38-13 at Foxboro

Ronnie Brown 4 rushing TDs, 1 TD pass :D

Well done to the Phins, although reports of the Patriots demise are premature, I still expect them to figure in the play-offs.

Jacksonsville winning at Indy was big, dunno why they did not televise the Bronco's - Saints game as the red button game.

I think they go for the games that look best on paper ( cue jokes about playing on grass etc) and hindsight is always 20/20

Go Cowboys
