I dislike Man Yoo with a passion, they really epitomise the Billy Big Bollox attitude. So glad we beat them yet again. Had a lovely meal out and a very large glass of red at my favourite restaurant in Sheffield. Toasted our win with all the staff and surprised they all felt the same way. Perfect end to the day loved every minute even though watched on TV. ( Mark Burridge commentary synchronised of course ). Whistled "sacked in the morning" all the way home ! Happy days.

Thiago + Outtara + Henderson now drawing well clear for PL G/A this season compared to Wissa + Mbeumo + Norgaard

We're still very early into the season, but already it feels like it could be more topsy turvy than ever. Sunderland and Leeds already with points on the board. We beat Villa, lose to Fulham, they lose to Villa...

I wouldn't be suprised if teams anwhere from 8/9th to 15th are continually swapping positions at different points in the season. In other words, this season more than ever, if you are inclined to react very quickly after every result either by defining players as not good enough one week and then superstars the next, like with Igor, Yehor, etc then I think you're going to find yourself having to make far more U-turns than you'd previously envisaged

I'm almost not certain if 8-15th is 'enough' to encapsulate the group ... 7-16th quite possibly, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, ManCity and Newcastle fighting for various spots in top6, and with Leeds(🙏), Forest(🙏),West Ham and Wolves being the bottom 4 fighting in their own 'league' to evade relegation.

Brentford on 28th September 2025:

Maybe it’s not as bad as some would make out.

Still have to pinch myself that we are playing (and beating) Manchester United in the top league.

No one in the media seem to acknowledge that we actually played well, all the focus in on how poor ManU were.

Flying under the radar
Yes it always seems like this. Had we won 10 nil it still would have been all about their troubles. Loads of comments about Fernandes having to wait half an hour before the penalty, nothing about our goal keeper making a brilliant save and also having to endure the same waiting time. Apart from a couple of shaky moments we pretty well controlled that game. So happy with that result.

Then again, with the state of United, it’s not that much of an archivement to beat them
Do they regret employing a Head Coach with no English leagues experience?

I think it still is. We’d not have done it with our line up at Forest or our performance at Fulham.

They’re dreadfully coached and have been for most of our time in the PL but even in that time have achieved cup wins, finals and league positions which we’d be reminiscing about for years if we did them. Despite everything they can still get good results now and again from the underlying ability of their players.

Opta predicted table as of today. Thoughts and prayers with Forest, Leeds and Fulham (plus a bonus mention for Man Utd) who are all expected to take their rightful places below us in the table.

I've said this to my mates - I think the gap between 8th and 20th is not going to be huge this season and it will take 35 points to be safe IMHO

In what universe does 40 points mean safety - it has literally happened 3 times in 30 odd seasons so it is not a thing any more.
It’s happened once in the last 27 years! The other occasions were 97 and. 98. The realistic target is now 34 points and that might be optimistic based on recent seasons.

> We lost 1-0 to a team who most ‘experts’ currently consider the best team in the world.

> The only goal scored came from a long ball (in a a similar fashion to another well known football club) where, unfortunately, our defender lost his duel with their centre forward allowing him to score.

> By only losing by the one goal it wasn’t too detrimental to our goal difference.

> We got to see how our new signings performed against top class opposition where most gave encouraging displays.

> We only have to play Man City once more this season (unless the footballing gods think otherwise).

👍

yeah, hand on heart, did anyone honestly expect (as opposed to hoping) that we'd get a whole lot out of ManCity? we kept it tight and never comfortable, and they arguably only won from their striker having a moment of brilliance and their goalie being solid throughout.

We’ve beaten the Champions of England! On the same day, Foolham, Chelski and qpha all lost. it’s a perfect weekend!
For us older chaps the weekend was made a touch more perfect as Aldershot also lost. Sad to say, Southend won so not quite totally perfect. Still, I'll take it.

What Cliff has been calling you since 1970. Surely that's harassment?

2.47% chance of relegation. Forest have a 43.13% chance.
BBC have a piece on ‘after 10games’. In a nutshell, it’s rare for a team to finish far from where they were after 10 games (spuds an exception last season).
We’re what 12th/13th? Last season we were 12th and finished 10th…
(Wolves are gone this season, and the title is between Arsenal and ManC.)

Rare, yes but it happens. Surely Palace moved up a few places between their 10th and 38th game last year?

This year may be an exception to the rule. It's still relatively tight between a number of places.

👍
Currently 12th.
We've been between 9th and 12th after game 10 in our previous 4 PL seasons.
And ended the season between 9th and 16th....

They went up by 5 places from 17th to 12th.
