Orient Match Report

Maybe...hmmmm...Sam Saunders???

when was the last time he crossed from the wing and we scored and when was the last time we scored from his corner in the league game.. i don't think so! :(

Orient Match Report

Sorry but all those who think we will get promoted after this result are dreaming. If you cant score against teams like LO at home then we have no chance. Oh and while i'm at it Coventry will rip us to sheads next Sunday

Don't think that is fair, as Orient had a very well organised defence. I could see that with the confidence that oozes throughout their team, why they are top of the table. We might have won had Craig scored, and it's fine lines that win or lose games. I'm annoyed we lacked the fight to get back into it. We just ran out of ideas.

Orient Match Report

Grigg and Clayton were like strangers tonight. We had no cutting edge and never really troubled their goalie. We also only won about 10% of the headers in midfield and played hoof ball for a most of the 2nd half. Their 12 points ahead of us with a goal average of 18 against our -2. Even at this stage of the season it's alot to claw back because at this rate we're going to struggle to make the play offs. Automatic promotion is a pipe dream.

Orient Match Report

Do you honestly believe that? On current form, they are a considerably better team than us. I thought the ref had a decent game actually.

as far as form goes they are better, but form is hardly a good reason to believe we are a lesser team because we aren't hitting the potential we have, at the end of the day, we out played them first half and were camped in their half for probably 65 minutes, until they got a penalty, maybe its a case of sour grapes because I love Brentford and hate orient but I don't see what they have that we've got and 10 times more, we are a much better team and have much better players, we're just missing a catalyst, all they really have is belief something we seem to be lacking.

Orient Match Report

Maybe, problem was Clayton didn't go over, got his shot off and didn't appeal.

There was a foul on Grigg before that as well, Clayton's honest something most players aren't he'd rather score a goal than go down, but regardless of whether he took the shot or not he was fouled and should have got the penalty

I think you're getting a bit carried away there. I thought defensively they were very ordinary, and I don't think they displayed any signs of confidence or swagger. I thought they looked good in attack, and were able to create chances. But apart from that they were pretty average. On the night, we were just woeful, and they deserved the win.

Orient Match Report

Thought we were on top till that penalty and still don't think it was a penalty. .

It was.

Is there no end to the misery of being a brentford supporter.

First half we were the better side, some lovely neat football at times in between far too many hoofed balls. LO had one tactic, foul CD every time he gets the ball and hoof it up top, it was meat and drink to our defense as their solitary chances came from a header just over and a shot blazed over after a defensive mix up. We had far more chances but the ref allowed the persistent fouling to break up our game, very very weak refereeing, their number 6 should have booked 5 times first half and it would have freed CD up to take the game to them. When CD was clean through he was pulled back but at the very least give us a free kick for the block on Grigg in the play leading up to it. Awful refereeing.

Second half we totally dominate. We have without a shadow of a doubt the best midfielder in the division in Forshaw, how the fk are we going to hang onto him in january if we are not in contention. We had the two best players on the pitch tonight in Mac and Forshaw and we still lose, how can that be?

As for the penalty....what a stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid fking moronic, idiotic, stupid, stupid, brainless fk idiotic stupid thing to do. The bloke is going nowhere, there is nobody in the box so he pulls his shirt from outside the box, their guy runs into the box, he is still pulling his fking shirt and then dives in just to make sure the ref has no choice but to give a pen and book him. This is their first shot of the second half and their first shot on target all game (if memory serves).

I have stood up for Uwe for 2 years because it is the best football we have ever played and we were 1 inch away from promotion.....how can you not stick up for him? However the tide is turning now. After they scored we just had to keep going and the equaliser would surely have come but he panics and makes 3 substitutions that throw us into a disheveled mess. I understand bringing a forward on, but why take one of your best players off in Mac and replace him with a super lightweight bag of tricks to make his debut against a bunch of clogger journey men? We basically handed them the midfield for the last 15 minutes where they hadn't had a kick up until then.

I admit I have not been to many games recently due to holiday, my nans 100th birthday and my wifes 40th birthday (excuses) and I have read all the negs about Uwe, but after tonight I have seen it all unfold in front of me and I can not defend him. You have to say he has brought in some top quality players into this club in mac, forshaw, dean, CD, grigg etc etc. But I can't understand why he has given Dave and saunders new contracts for a start. His tactical subs tonight were appalling. For me dave is just not good enough, I hear people say he wins a few headers and runs around a bit, but IMO Mac is the archetypal water carrier. He wins tackles, has the oppo, the ref and the players in his pocket, gets from box to box, can pass, tackle, shoot and run all day. Dave in comparison offers nothing going forward, wins a few headers and passes it sideways ok from time to time. Is he really the answer? Why is forshaw stuck out wide wide? Mac and forshaw are top quality, douglas is going to fill in from time to time if we are short, saunders can play up the top of a diamond if he ever gets a game. Why waste forshaw out wide and put dave in the middle?

I guess the Q is how ruthless is MB? Will hew allow Uwe to carry on or will he just say enough is enough, cloggers with nippy forwards like LO are beating us and we don't seem to have the answer.

I don't know......this was supposed to be our year but too many of the players that lifted my summer just don't look good enough and the players that do look good are out of position most of the time.

Feeling very sad tonight.

Just for the record, when was the last time we played a team who's starting team numbers went from 1-11? In 1980? That shows how lucky LO have been with injuries and unfortunately for them probably shows why they will likely miss out on the PO's this year, but my goodness what a great start and they are no mugs that is for sure.

Sorry paul usa but i saw nothing pretty. In fact i saw nothing encouraging at all. Just trying to comfort myself with the fact the orient are a bogey team for us. But i still dread sunday.

Belief can get you along way though. Look at Yeovil, Doncaster, B'muff.... We might have individually better players than LO, but we don't have a better team as a whole. Rosler needs to sort this out by Xmas at the latest, because if we ain't close to the play offs by then the club needs to ask the question whether he's the man to get the best out of these players..

You're not wrong, the onus was on us as the home team needing the points to create chances and convert them. We looked neat and tidy with the ball and moved it around nicely but never where it mattered and I've stopped expecting us to score at the moment.

Far more pace and urgency needed in the last third, I'd tell Uwe he has until the end of October to improve performances and results.

Orient Match Report

i'll tell you exactly as it was.....first half we shaded it and i thought we looked good....2nd half we had the first 15mins and should have scored....tap in that was missed and then the game changed....orient got a pen out of nothing and from that moment the game was over....uwe doesnt know how to use his subs and sent on a young chap who should never have been in that situation...he gave the ball away and they scored the 2nd,,,defo game over....i just dont get uwe, we looked totally useless after the 3 subs and for me that sums the bloke up....he doesnt know his best team and to take mcormack off was suicide.....orient aint no great shakes and will probably not be automatic at the end of the season but for me this was THE game to win and i reckon we wont even make the play offs (which is pointless anyway).....time for a change at the top and let someone else try and get the best out of that immense squad we have....the trouble is a lot of em just aint good enough and we need to ditch a few....mom was logan for me tonight (again)....where we go from here i dont know as coventry are a good side and i can see us losing on sunday too.......got a feeling the rotherham game will be make or break for our managment team......we need someone to get us out of this damn division and uwe has had long enough and failed.....lets see if anyone can do a job before its far too late :(

Orient Match Report

Reading through this is soo depressing! We really weren't as bad as most people are making us out to be. Simply the same as last year dominating games, not taking our chances. Richard Lee didn't have to make a save.
They were very average and after some injuries and as season goes on they'll finish top 8 but nowhere near top 2.

Orient Match Report

I don't think we quite play hoofball or a passing game, I call it Goofball and it's been created by Uwe.

I should have been clearer. - We play pretty passes from our box to half way - we can do that cos the oppo let us do it - when it matters, in thier half, we do not play pretty football or have much idea.

Orient Match Report

I wish Uwe just kept the same formation and vest eleven for EVERY game.

Were not playing Chelsea or Man United.

We ARE the Chelsea and Man Utds of this league. Other teams should be changing their formation because of us.

This is like last season all over again. A few chances not taken. Unlike last season we are now seriously starting to leak goals.

Something needs to happen.

We played alright if unspectacular until they scored. Once Trotta and Dallas came on we went to pot. It was hard work to watch.

A lot of those 5,500 Bees wont be back based on that.

It was definitely a penalty. mind you Dave was lucky not to concede one in the first half either.

With our budget 10th is not good enough are nearly 20% of the season.

We've had an easy start paper wise as well.

Very very disappointed.

Uwe has lost it completely!! taking off Mac and as for letting that Carthorse Rodney any where near this club,Farid must be disappointed to see such a Clown get game time in front of him,Sorry to say it but i have lost faith in Rosler having so much Talent but not knowing where to play them!!

Simply not taking our chances is right. 8 games 10 goals and 4 of them came last week but not the same as last year as we were miles better last year and at the moment make no mistake we are going backwards. I think rosler has about 5 or 6 games we must get better.

Agree, in fairness Adam kept looking to pick passes behind the defenders and mixed it up with short and longer passes.
He looks light years ahead of the rest of the side ability and vision wise, if we continue to struggle he'll be off in January.

thats enough about them, but what about us??.....im not really bothered we're those flids finish but i dont think we'll finish above em, thats the problem ;)

Orient Match Report

Oh and why do we always have a lack of options from throw ins, I hate seeing one of our players holding the ball behind their head searching for someone to throw it to. Its league 1 and it doesn't hurt launching a throw into the box if we are in the oppositions final third, particularly with Dean and Taylor to aim at. It doesn't mean we are changing our football "philosophy" it just means we are utilising an opportunity to get the ball in the box!

Best thing i've read all night. Spot on, I reckon we have an element of false arrogance about us which means that we don't have to 'resort' to the occasional long throw as we'll pass the ball in. Couple of things wrong with that though isn't there, tonight we played a lot of 'hoofball' which was odd, we are in league 1 and despite what has been sang we are not Barcelona. I mean we one the last minute penalty last weekend from a long throw creating chaos! We must never be too proud when we are in fact not that good.

Orient Match Report

A very very poor display tonight, I even recorded it on Sky as well, not even going to bother to watch it, we were mugged by a very ordinary Orient side, who did a job on us, they were nothing special, but we made them look good, Adam Forshaw the only man to come out with any credit tonight, the rest were very poor with little clue on how to hit the back of the net, the next few weeks needs to see Uwe and the team pull out all the stops, otherwise we won't even make the play offs at this rate as we appear to be going backwards at the moment, no use blaiming injuries any more, we have a big enough squad who should cope, I have always been in the pro Uwe camp, but my doubts are starting to creep in, he should be getting more out of this squad, some managers would die for it.

Orient Match Report

that's the point I'm trying to make, but its like there is no belief in the club or team at all

Orient Match Report

Good report Bridge Bee, the passing football IS a myth. Anyone can pass it around on the half-way line, then it all breaks down where it matters. We looked good against Sheff Utd but look where they are now. Coventry on Sunday is looking grim now. They score goals for fun.

Coventry will probably be some mad 4-3 game and everybody will say things are back on track, but they're wrong if they do.

Orient Match Report

Although we shaded it in the first half we never looked like scoring, so once Orient started banging the ball into the channels we were always going to lose it. The subs were poor: it wasn't a game for Tex and Dallas was awful.

Time for Uwe to think the unthinkable and configure an attack without Donaldson, who never looked like scoring with a few long-range punts, is not able to win headers, can't pass and doesn't close down. I don't really care what people think of his socks, time to try something new.

Orient Match Report

what are you watching...we have taken a step back from last season.no signs of improvement

And yet I think we have better players. We've certainly been hampered by injuries and suspensions, but some of the stars of last season have failed to hit those heights so far this season, and too often we fail to stamp our own mark on games. Uwe's been backed as well as any Bees Manager and he needs to start to show pretty quickly that he's the solution and not part of the problem.

Orient Match Report

you are joking....Donaldson throws himself to the floor as much as most players,at times when he has a half decent opportunity of going at goal

no he doesn't he just not as strong as people seem to think he is, he's weak compared to most strikers of his size and build and he ties himself in knots, having said that he was still fouled and should have got a penalty

Orient Match Report

Lee - solid apart from when he slipped over in first half clearing, t close with the penalty
Craig - not too bad at left back but not a marauder like Bidwell
Harlee - trying hard but slightly off what he was l
Taylor - limited but dominant and perfect for what we needed. Good signings uncannily like Terry Evans from afar
Logan - a bit wobbly, didnt seem that focussed
Dave - not bad, without ever looking comfortable on the ball
Filo - v poor. One cross on the run in particular horribly overhit. International class did not remotely show up today
McCormack - not his best game, seemed to fade. Drove forward well in first half
Forshaw - embarrassing how much he stands out above the rest. Totally in control and when he gets the ball it is like he could do whatever he wants
Grigg - seemd to play up front in the centre. Didnt suit him. Needs games
Donaldson - a curious mixture of excellent forward play, unnecessary tricks that don't come off, and huff and puff

Their keeper didnt make a decent save
We WERE coming into it and looked the better team before the penalty, without ever really looking like scoring

Orient are very well organised. They all look like they know what they are doing but they are playing pretty well near their maximum. We are some way off ours.

Orient Match Report

Weak, ineffectual and toothless.
Orient are no world beaters but saw us off without barely breaking sweat. I am really struggling to see why as a season ticket holder I should even bother to turn up next week, as the players barely did tonight - not for the first time.
Our much vaunted management appear bereft of attacking ideas as do the players.

Orient Match Report

A disapointing evening against an average team who took their chances. There certainly not the best team to come to gp in the last year or so, but disapointing performance especailly second half. Apart from Forshaw who seems to be our best player by miles, i dont think anyone else played to their potentail. Dont know why Farid is not playing and also seem to have Fillo and Dallas needing to improve quickly if we are to challenge for promotion (or bring back Saunders). However I am starting to fear for Uwe. If we do not pick up some form in October as we have difficult fixtures in November to come against Posh and Wolves. We have been unlucky with injuries but we need to quickly improve.

Although I think you regularly aim some pretty unreasonable criticism at Donaldson, I have to concede that Clayton has started the season particularly poorly. We have other options - unlike last year - so pairing Grigg with Farid should be a serious consideration at the moment IMO.

Orient Match Report

The problem tonight seemed to be 1 directional movement between Grigg and Donaldson which made their defending easier than it should have been.

I think Grigg or Farid needs to play down the middle with Donaldson running channels either side. Then bring in Joao to drift behind the two. This should create enough variation of movement to unsettle a back four.

Midfield three of Mac, Firshaw and Dave did no wrong tonight.

Defence only made 3 errors tonight but again we were punished. Taylor and Harlee look solid enough and Craig is OK cover but his inability to bomb forward lime Bidwell means attacks down the left are more or less nullified.

I think the work in training is to find a front 3 combo that will drag defenders all over the place and create the space to create clear cut chances.

Orient Match Report

We didn't dominate the game. We had more of the ball. Anytime they broke they looked like scoring. We just played some stupid long ball to get a crappy header on it. I swear we play for statistics rather than goals.

We must be in the top 4-5 clubs in the league for wages, and we don't play like it. There is no point in having a subs bench as Uwe never bothers with them until it's too late.

Bloody joke of a game.

 Really?? I thought Taylor was awful today! Beaten up all ends by most of their attackers, especially Odebajo. Headed the ball he did, but in just about every direction going, not where we needed it, and his first touch on the floor was absolute hospital stuff at times.

Orient Match Report

Most worrying aspect after tonight and these 8 games is that we've actually gone backwards from last season. We signed 14 players but how many of them have actually made us a better team? For me we are badly missing Moore, Adayemi and Forrester and haven't replaced them.

McCormack I like but i don't think he's going to win us games on his own. Saville is certainly a huge talent but really a young kid, Grigg a couple of goals but not much else. Fillo? Drifts in and out but not much of an impact.

Other than that have we just signed a load of squad players who haven't made us any better? Bonham, Venta, Nugent, etc all seem a bit of a waste.

Orient Match Report

Reading this thread it seems that the opinion is Orient are an average side that will implode.

Not sure what that makes us as they just beat us 2-0 at our place.

We play very pretty football to just past the half way line - but when that bit of quality is needed we just do not have it.

We have some very good individuals playing for us. If only we had a management structure that could get them to play as a team.

Very poor tonight and we sadly got exactly what we deserved.

Orient have an average set of players but collectively they constitute a settled, well organised team which plays within its limitations and has a decent blend of technical ability and lower division know how. They also have momentum, self belief and, at the moment, that little bit of luck that you get when you are top of the league. They also have a manager who knows how to maximise the limited resources at his disposal.

We, on the other hand, have a squad of players which may be vastly superior technically but is in no real sense a team. It's very much less than the sum of its parts, isn't given the opportunity to settle in terms of individuals or formations, lacks belief, is for the most part rather lightweight and is also having a bit of a rough time with the rub of the green. Most significantly, we also have a manager who over complicates, doesn't know his best starting line up and fails to make best use of the very generous resources available to him.

That said, Orient's luck will turn, they will pick up injuries and suspensions which stretch their limited squad and under Slade they have been very much an all or nothing side. They are equally capable of losing the next 4. Whereas you have to think that once some of the newer signings get the chance to settle in, and our luck turns a little, the sheer quality in our squad will still see us into the Play Offs (possibly despite, rather than because, of Uwe). Once there I would relish the chance of another crack at Orient.

Orient Match Report

Uwe Rosler get sacked your absolutely rubbish the team you have is fantastic you just don't know how to play them.

Don't think Forrester would have made a difference in a game like today and although Moore and Adeyemi may have played well in a game like today those in their respective positions did fine and can't be considered responsible for the defeat. I agree with your general point that we have quantity over quality in certain sections of our squad though.

Im not so sure we do have better players this season though, we have lost Simon Moore in goal, Tom Adeyemi (loan) and Harry Forrester. Dont get me wrong, the guy from swindon is good but we lack somebody to come off the bench to make an impact. Grigg is not the signing we hoped for, Douglas has been injured and we are unlucky with both Bidwell and the kid from Everton have injuries but as for bringing back Trotter, smacks a bit of a desperate move IMHO.

Orient Match Report

simply not good enough.

I didn't go Bradford and tranmere because of our performances so far.all those who0 came back from tranny shouting down everyone "negative",leave it out,it hasn't changed thise season,i see no signs of improvement,we have taken a step back.im neither doom&gloom or rose tinted so don't make out im d&g for telling it how I see it.
1st half - we had all the possession, usual story though, get to the final third and theres no creativity.the few slight chances we create we aren't clinical enough.Orient didn't pose any real threat but our defence gifted them chances that they maybe should have done better with.
Corners,we put decent balls in and we were cack at attacking them, same old.

2nd half- much the same, not good enough in the final third,Orient still no real threat.
The longer it went on the worse we got and I knew what was going to happen,no matter how debatable the pen was,it was still going to happen.

Grigg was non existant meaning we were seriously lacking up front,he hasn't really impressed yet,(maybe that's the formation?).That and with time ticking, the longer it went on the more we were going to lump it up top, prime time for Alagui to come on,who will chase everything down,win99 out of 100 headers and put himself on the line. No,he brings on Trotta, who from the off showed why he shouldn't be on the pitch, especially when we are chasing a game, its not being anti Trotta ,he is simply just a lazy ****.Alagui must be wondering what hes done wrong.

Forshaw is looking sharper by the game and is now becoming wasted in this team,if he wasn't there we'd be in trouble.thats the truth.

I heard some blokes in the pub after saying its what Brentford do after a near promotion miss season".......
im sorry that is b***ocks..Brentford has never had it set up so good behind the scenes,we are spunking money away badly and it isn't on.barring Orient, who for being top and having their best ever start to a season really didn't impress me at all,we have played mostly poor teams so far,God help us when we play a better team,Im not looking forward to Coventry Sunday.

this is no way an over reaction,if you are happy with our performances, then you need your head tested,we have gone backwards, this time last season,we always looked like scoring no matter how well or not so well we played.
