Orient Match Report

Poor tonight, especially in the 2nd half where we really didn't kick on.

Played some good football in the first half, Forshaw in the center of it and Dave was putting himself around in the middle of the park.

2nd half was different with aimless long balls from the back

Not entirely sure what Filo brings at the moment, fairly anonymous

Liverpool lad came on but felt it wasn't the type of game for him - very limited first team action and we bring him on in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a London derby

Clayton tried hard with some v neat touches but final ball wasn't here. Him and Grigg haven't clicked yet

Dean at fault for the penalty - missed the flight of the ball and exposed Logan on the wrong side of Mooney

Lisbie at 34 won a hell of the lot and caused trouble up front

Orient wanted it more in the 2nd half - we were fairly limited in our ideas

V poor night

We had chances and never took them. Thought we were on top till that penalty and still don't think it was a penalty. Switched off badly for 2nd goal. Orient were solid at the back.
Silly mistakes cost us again. We had a real match winner in Conor and our season went badly south after he got that horrible injury.
Early days but our Manager and coaches need to earn their bacon and turn this around.

Orient Match Report

Poor display. What is with this hoofball??!! Grigg struggled under the high ball. Did well when had it to feet but this only happened about 2/3 times. Those slagging him obviously couldn't see this. Donaldson did little of any quality. They were too far apart though. This wasn't helped with nobody down the left hand side so there was no balance. No penetration from midfield. Dave and McCormack too deep and Forshaw played backwards far too much. Long ball rubbish from all back 4 and keeper. Subs did nothing, in fact we barely saw the ball when McCormack went off until they scored 2nd and sat back. Fillo erratic but with little quality. I thought brentford were a passing side??!! Have I missed something? No partnership from Grigg and Donaldson yet but they both score goals so need longer than 2/3 games, especially when season has been so disrupted by injuries, internationals, etc.

Orient there for the taking. Not that impressed with anyone apart from their winger Moses something. Tricky, strong and quick. Their centre backs took no prisoners though - a few questionable challenges and Grigg/Donaldson had no chance with the long balls as they plowed through the back every time.

Orient Match Report

Very poor. They did a job on us.

Why did he take McCormack off and bring Dallas on?

We honestly look play-offs at best at the moment. We are very shakey at the back and look like conceding in every game.

Does Uwe know his best 11?

Yes- Good to have Richard back but Harlee is a weakness this season and we watch team play rather than close them down in the box. Logan has really improved this season. We lack the killer instinct in the final third and Rosler needs to give Farid a proper run of games.

Orient Match Report

We've a good side, that tries to play good football, often no end product though.
Orient had a settled side, confidence in their defence & patience that they would get a chance or two, then they took them.
That's the sign of a side that's used to winning.
Can't see them lasting the pace though, one or two injuries/suspensions & they'll sink without trace.

Orient Match Report

Lots of tame attempts at goal, had a decent 60 mins but we never look clinical... Didn't last season and don't this season. Silly goal to give away and completely avoidable. Rather depressing and we seem to be regressing at present. Uwe needs to be able to sort this all out but we're conceding a bucket load of goals and aren't scoring. We don't seem to have the mental and physical presence of last season.

His substitutions today were woeful. A physical, quick game which needed players who could read the style that was necessary. Instead we bring on a lightweight striker, a waif of a midfielder and an out of sorts winger... then we chuck Harles up front! Why the **** did he not bring on Farid, who has an awesome track record of popping up with late goals.

12 points off top and we're only a fifth of the way through the season. Time for Uwe and staff to put it right. Onwards and upwards.

Orient Match Report

Really disappointed to lose, especially by a two goal margin. We weren't at our best but for an hour I felt we were slightly the better side and had control of the game. The penalty was totally against the run of play and I really can't work out what Logan was doing getting involved in a wrestling match in such a dangerous position. After the goal though thought we went to pieces and really did look clueless and totally devoid of ideas and they hit us on the break to kill the game.

Thought the team selection was fine but the set up was wrong, we have to have Forshaw playing through the middle, trying to find gaps and get Donaldson in behind. Problem was he was forced wide left and his threat was nullified. Our left side was very poor and we are really missing Bidwell more than ever. Craig is the only option but he can't bring the ball forward out of defence or support the midfield enough such is his lack of mobility.

Donaldson is spending too much time in positions we don't want him in, out on the wing trying to win the ball in the air against full backs when he should be looking to play on the shoulder of the centre backs.

Subs were ineffective, Teixera wanted too much time on the ball and clearly has to learn this level quickly. Trotta floated about and fluffed a real chance to get a goal back, I just can't believe he was the best we could get? Dallas was truly awful and badly needs a spell out on loan, every cross he hit went into the stands.

Back four at times look like they don't know each other and I guess that happens with new players and people out of position. Like I said the one we miss the most is Bidwell.

I'm wondering now whether we may actually have too many players and too many options. Does Rosler know his best team? Is it good having such a big squad with so many players hanging around not getting games? Look at Dallas, a bright spark last season but hasn't played I'm ages but gets thrown on and looks all over the place.

I'm not overly worried, Orient aren't great but they are doing something right that we aren't on clearly a lesser budget. Tough and organised when they weren't at their best but clinical when they needed to be. October is fast approaching and that is when the league starts to take shape, we can't stand still and let things drift. Big game Sunday.

Orient Match Report

Thank God I once again trusted my better judgment in deciding not to back us for automatic promotion.
Wolves and Posh have nothing to fear.

There was me thinking we would build on last season - and after the Sheff game it looked like we had.
Turns out they're proper sh*t and made us look good.
The truth is we seem to have regressed.
I'd be delighted with a top 6 finish.

We are far superior to orient, very dodgy penalty decision Logan had as much of the blokes shirt as he did Logan's, we lost our shape as soon as they got that goal, referee killed us with some absolutely horrendous decisions, should have had 2 penalties. Grigg doesn't offer very much barely got on the ball and was never in a good position to have a shot. Fillo never really got into the game, Donaldson won everything then played some fancy flicks and lost possession, never thought we'd score and we don't seem to have any bottle sometimes, I can foresee a run at home where we struggle to score.

Orient Match Report

We are miles from the play-offs. We dont score goals, its as simple as that. 4 goals at home in 4 games and 3 of those against Sheff Utd. How can we win with stats like that. I sometimes think managers forget that goals win games.

Orient Match Report

Farid gets fit, starts scoring goals, just what we needed, but Uwe forgets he's here. Somethings very wrong

What a poor poor display. Serious questions should be asked regarding team , manager and tactics.

Good summary. We look very good around the half way line but are totally ineffective in the final third and didn't make the keeper work at any point. We have so much quality but just aren't getting anything like the potential out of it!

Really strongly disagree, thought the referee was very good and let the game flow whenever possible. Unfussy and didn't see any genuine penalty claims, possibly Clayton should have gone to ground and he might have got the decision but no appeals from any Bees players.

I can't see how anyone can honestly say it wasn't a penalty to them?

terrible game 2nd half, Uwe you got it wrong tonight it wasn't pretty.. poor Farid left on the bench yet again..

Do you honestly believe that? On current form, they are a considerably better team than us. I thought the ref had a decent game actually.

We don't score goals - that is the problem - didn't we only win 3/4 games out of approx 60 last season by more than one goal.

The curse of playing live on TV in the league strikes again. Although our record in the FA Cup and LDV Vans/Autowindscreen/Johnstones Paint and Play-Off semi-finals is ok (not finals of course), I can't think of any league games we have won on TV other than 1-0 against Cambridge in 1998 and 4-0 against Brighton in 2002. That is about 2 league wins on TV out of about 15 or more games. Doesn't seem to make a difference whether we are the highest place league team (as is usually the case) or in this case the lower placed team.

Interestingly, I think I am right in saying that in all the finals we have played at Wembley/Cardiff we have been the highest place league team and lost the lot. I thought being the lowest place team tonight would help - obviously not!

Orient Match Report

We're playing Championship football in League One - just as we did last season. Lots of light, fast technical players who get mullered by Lg 1 defenders. If you look at our full backs and majority of our midfield - almost no-one over 5' 10 or 11 st so will aways get found out if we can't play around them, cos we sure as hell can't play through them.

Orient Match Report

Thought we did pretty well first half against a very capable and hard working Orient side. Penalty came when we were just getting on top and looked a needless one to give away. After that we lost our way completely and the second goal was dreadfully poor from a defensive point of view.

I'm afraid that at present we lack metal. The players are undoubtedly talented but you've got to earn the right to play and I thought Orient worked harder than we did to win challenges and get bodies in the way to stop us playing.

I must say as well that once again, the substitutions did more to hinder than help and left us totally shapeless and devoid of any attacking impetus.

Some of the big players from last year have started poorly this season, Clayton especially, and they and the management need to up their game pretty swiftly if we're to start to rein in the early pace setters.

Orient Match Report

Average performance, didn't think Orient were particularly good and we will finish higher than them. Difference between the sides at the moment is that their starting 11 is very settled and they play like a team who know each other's game very well. We have lots of good individuals, some very good, but they aren't playing as a cohesive unit. Might be confidence but I suspect the root of the problem is too many different starting line ups and we are only 8 league games into the season.

We had a good spell just before the penalty and we tried to change things too quickly after they scored it and we missed McCormack when he went off.

Ultimately its all very similar to last season.........but not quite as good.

Don't think anyone had a shocker tonight but in the same breath nobody stood out and stamped any authority on the game. I'd pick the same 11 on Sunday and say go out there and put it right.

Orient Match Report

Bees fan let down again by players and manager. Orient are very average, but that was a lot better than us.

Does Uwe know his best side and formation? Too many players for me and constant changes to the starting 11. I think Orient have played the same team in every game and look where that's got them. We have a huge squad, yet still no left winger. We have forwards not on form, but the others don't get a look in. The formation didn't work all night (also seems to change every week) and the tactics 2nd half were reminiscent of Andy Scott at his best. But he didn't have Forshaw, McCormack, Fillo, Grigg or Donaldson at his disposal. Really hope Uwe realises he is under pressure because I'm sure any old manager could produce current results and performances.

Logan threw in one of his shocking displays that we see every 6 weeks. Our up and coming star centre back Harlee was 2nd best to journeyman Lisbie and average L1 striker Mooney all night. Fillo did nothing. Dave got a couple of nosebleeds near their box. Marquee signing Grigg never finishes a game and the Donaldson of 2 seasons ago is back. Dallas and the Liverpool kid were like little boys in a mans game. Forshaw is exceptional but unfortunately no-one else at the football club is on his wavelength. Leading scorer Farid didn't even get on.

Until the pen they didn't look like scoring, but the hoofball that followed from us was embarrassing. Haven't seen much of our pass and move all season. It's becoming a myth.

A really depressing night.

Orient Match Report

Mid table that is it for this season .. Once again too many loan players

Orient Match Report

As someone said earlier they came and did a proper job on us. We played ok but the worrying part for me was there keeper only made one serious save as far as I can remember and that was when we were 2 0 down. Also I thought they looked so much fitter and stronger than most of our players. Well someone on another thread said Orient have a 100% record but have not really played anyone really decent yet, 8 out of 8 and they still haven't. Pissed off is putting it lightly......

Orient Match Report

Toothless, strolling around and playing football where they let us. For all the superiority in the 70 minutes before they were rightly awarded a penalty we didn't really make the keeper work too hard.
Sick of feeling the same way after most games, need to hurt teams by creating more clean cut chances and having a cutting edge in the box.

Orient Match Report

Looked as much of a penalty to them as the 1 on Donaldson in the first half as far as I'm concerned

Orient Match Report

Frustrating game.
First half, and up to their goal in the second, we played some real nice stuff, and were getting men forward. Shoulda put a few away, especially Forshaw's free kick that somehow noone got on the end of.
After their penalty, we gave up with the passing, and started the long ball rubbish. We couldn't hold the ball up, and as soon as that started, I knew we weren't getting back into it.
Its strange the players switched to the long ball, maybe they're losing faith in Rosler's passing play?

Orient Match Report

Good report Bridge Bee, the passing football IS a myth. Anyone can pass it around on the half-way line, then it all breaks down where it matters. We looked good against Sheff Utd but look where they are now. Coventry on Sunday is looking grim now. They score goals for fun.

Orient Match Report

I'm going to try my best to give an objective report and simply say what I believe my eyes saw.

As is becoming a trend we tried to play pretty passing football but again apart from a few headers which all seemed to go straight at their keeper I can't really remember their keeper having to get his gloves dirty.

Orient are not a pretty side but they get the ball forward quick, pick up second ball in oppositions final third and then play some decent passing football to fashion chances. They alsi have s bit of know how at both ends of the pitch as demonstrated by their consistent nudging and fouling, much of which they get away with.

It felt like we had had the better of the game until Harlee missed yet another header and Shay then committed suicide and gave away a needless foul. For all our possession we rarely cut them open which gas become a trend this season. We made three subs all of which were ineffective and then a lively through ball and great finish killed the game.

In summary our football has become ineffective and easy to combat. By contrast Orient have found an effective way to play if not always pretty.

The most worrying aspect was the lack of fight once we went one down and if I'm honest it had the feel of the way things started to go when Scotty could sacked.

Uwe has much to do in the next 2 games or I fear the worst for him.

we lost to a very good team tonight apart from Uwe crap tactics tonight and injuries that haven't helped, we will be up there..

Orient Match Report

The problem is that we are unbalanced and lack a decent left side. The loss of McAleney was devastating and we are nowhere near replacing him.

We are going ti struggle for a while until we get Bidwell back and can go some way towards getting a settled side

We looked decent for an hour but flattered to deceive with Grigg and Donaldson isolated and too far apart from each other.

Jones never had to make a decent save but we fluffed 3 excellent chances.

Dean's early header wide, Donaldson on halftime when the defence parted like the Red Sea and then Craig getting the ball stuck under his feet 5 yards out. Trotta too didn't get hold of a volley when the goal gaped.

Their gaol came against the run of play and Logan was totally culpable for what looked a blatant penalty.

Mooney missed last season - but not this time.

I thought the subs were decent as Uwe went for it with a 442 but our ball retention wa spoor and nothing happened.

We are fairly close but as I said we are unbalanced and need to eventually get something like a settled team before we are going to achieve anything this season

Oh and why do we always have a lack of options from throw ins, I hate seeing one of our players holding the ball behind their head searching for someone to throw it to. Its league 1 and it doesn't hurt launching a throw into the box if we are in the oppositions final third, particularly with Dean and Taylor to aim at. It doesn't mean we are changing our football "philosophy" it just means we are utilising an opportunity to get the ball in the box!

What a load of bollox that was. What the hell is Uwe doing? Really worried by the lack of urgency and drive out there, and the fact we can't create jack shyte. So much hopeful hoofing it. When the guy held up 6 mins of extra time, it was greeted by groans. He could have held up 6 years and we still wouldn't have scored.

As for the penalty, think some of my fellow GPGers need to go to specsavers, it looked like Logan fouled the guy enough to give away three penalties. What the hell was he doing?

The whole squad needs a gigantic kick up the backside, but I'm not sure Uwe is the man to do it.

Orient Match Report

First half was pretty even yet I couldn't help but feel relieved to be level at half time. Although both teams had an even amount of chances, they always looked that more likely to finish theirs off. Odebajo was simply too good for Craig and Taylor on our left side. They couldn't handle his pace and accuracy in his ball control. Offensively we were looking good though. With Forshaw pulling the strings in the middle, whilst Donaldson, Grigg and Fillo working hard around him and the full backs overlapping when it was on.

The second half started off even then we gradually started to get on top of the game, Clayton causing their bang average back four all sorts of problems. As is sod's law, as soon as I felt like we were bossing the game, thirty seconds later we concede a penalty. After we went 1 down, our heads dropped and they just looked that bit more organised, confident and ruthless. It was really disappointing to not see some of our players busting a gut to get into the box to finish chances off in the second half.

Main causes for corncern:
1. Orient looked like an established team who all knew one another's role and executed their game plan accordingly. They had some very good individual performances and some bang average ones tonight but it was that team ethic and knowhow that saw them over the line. We keep changing our much larger and on paper, much more talented squad, you could tell in the amount of misplaced passes and times our players were not on the same wavelength today.
2. Our play from set pieces in both boxes was atrocious. We never look like scoring from our own set pieces and we let the ball bounce all over the place and cannot clear our lines when defending. How
Taylor has played at such a high level for so long amazes me, he looks so clumsy.
3. They looked so much more ruthless offensively than us. How often do we score goals out of nothing like their second goal? The only times we looked like scoring were from scraps in the box and a couple of good long range shots from Forshaw and Donaldson. Once again, I do not understand it as our strikeforce on paper looks as good as anyone's in the league.

Lee: 6 - Clearly not fully fit and distributionwise a mixed bag. However, was commanding in front of an indecisive defence and pulled off a great save shortly after their first goal. Dived the right way to his bottom right for the pen but was unlucky as the spot picked was paced and placed perfectly.
Logan: 5 - Offensively fine but struggled defensively against Cox tonight. Would be harsh to blame him for conceding the pen as the other lad was twice his size.
Dean: 5 - Finished about 50/50 in his battles with Lisbie but was caught out a couple of times in LO's offensive moves. Mainly resorted to hoofball in his distribution but that was often down to the lack of options available to him.
Taylor: 4 - Caught out for the second goal and was given nightmares by Odebajo. He played just like Leon Legge except he couldn't head it as accurately as Legge normally does today. His first touch on the floor frightens the life out of me.
Craig: 6 - Good attacking performance with some great accurate crosses did as well as he could against in Odebajo a player who could outpace him every time.
McCormack: 5 - A bit hit and miss today. Reminded me a bit of Douglas at the end of last season. Not sure if he's fully fit?
Diagouraga: 6 - Some good silky footwork but saw little of the ball in a game that was largely played along the flanks.
Forshaw: 8 - MOTM by a country mile. Orient couldn't get anywhere near him 1st half. 2nd half faded slightly but he can't do it all on his own.
Fillo and Grigg: 6 - Worked hard but just wasn't happening.
Donaldson: 7 - We saw all of Clayton today. The fizzing long range shot, the great workrate and occassional frustrating miscontrol.

Subs:
Textiera: 6-Worked hard but was given a rough tough welcome into L1 football.
Trotta and Dallas: 4 - Not on for too long and barley saw either touch the ball in that short time.

We have a very talented squad but not yet as organised and ruthless as Orient's. If we are to seriously challenge, a lot of work needs to be done.

Orient Match Report

Reading this thread it seems that the opinion is Orient are an average side that will implode.

Not sure what that makes us as they just beat us 2-0 at our place.

We play very pretty football to just past the half way line - but when that bit of quality is needed we just do not have it.

We have some very good individuals playing for us. If only we had a management structure that could get them to play as a team.

Very poor tonight and we sadly got exactly what we deserved.

Sorry but all those who think we will get promoted after this result are dreaming. If you cant score against teams like LO at home then we have no chance. Oh and while i'm at it Coventry will rip us to sheads next Sunday

Orient Match Report

Well, I'm not hitting the panic button quite yet, but we look like we lacked confidence. I still feel that a couple of big wins and we are capable of going on a run and climbing up the table, but it's got to happen sooner rather than later.
First half, thought we played well. Second half, and we didn't take our chances, mainly the one that fell to Craig. Had we scored that, we would have gone on to win. What Orient did well was counter attack well, and they soaked up pressure well. But, that meant we had to take our chances when they came, and we didn't. The rest is history. We are simply not clinical.
Feel deflated, feel annoyed, but a couple of decent wins and we could be back on track. A couple of losses, and Uwe may not last till the end of October. I hope that we get those wins, because Uwe has transformed us into a highly useful team, but right now, we are not fulfilling the potential that we have.

Orient Match Report

We are so naïve at times its unreal. We have regressed from what I saw tonight and our final ball into the area was shocking. Wasteful and woeful. I thought Orient were an average side that seemed to do the simple things well and maybe we need to go back to the basics rather than trying to play pretty fancy football all the timel. We are Mid table at the moment and clearly we don't have the run of the mill but there is so much to improve on so if things don't change on the pitch then this is where we deserve to be I'm afraid and yes I was there and not watching on SKY.
