Pinault

Pinault

and for a player who cant tackle put himself about. Pity he hasnt played like that more often, looked useful, as he did very early on in the season. But we have all seen the other side of him and it wasnt hard to stand out today.

Pinault

i thin pinault not putting himself about is a misconception. he plays simple passing football and moves into space. he is never going to fly into a tackle but i think he has largely worked hard whenever i have seen him

feel sorry for mousinho. it should have been leary on the bench. i just dont know what he adds, apart from yellow cards

Pinault

He has been guilty of some very uncommitted performances this year but he is twice the player Mousinho is and Im a bit surprised it has taken Fitz four months to realise this.

Pinault

You must have watched a different game to me, then. There were eleven Cheltenham players who were better than him for starters. Add in Kuffour and he's not even in the top half.

A little harsh, Ed.

Let's get one thing straight:

Pinault is a "sunshine billy" that only turns it on if the temperature is above 15 degrees and he plays on a flat pitch. He, like a number of players, has cheated the club this season.

I think the quote was "sunbed billy" but point taken !

I don't disagree - but he played well today and it was a pleasant change to see a midfielder who looked like he could pass. You take your pleasures where you can find them at GP at the moment.

I know, but the point I am making is that where was he in winter when the League is won or lost?

The guy hid in that period and it's all very well playing fancy football when it's nice and sunny and not to mention that we are down. What does he care anyway? He's off to Gretna.

He won't last long there.

With respect the league wasn't "won or lost in winter".

When Fitzgerald took over we probably needed 34 points from 29 games to stay up. Not exactly a tall order.

We have had 24 of those 29 games and Fitz has selected Pinault 6 times. before today, the previous occasion was in our 3-1 away win at Blackpool.

I don't disagree that Pinault is an extremely frustrating player but when you see the likes of Mousinho who has the midfield ability of a park footballer selected ahead of him week in week out you wonder what the hell is going on in the managers head.

But then when he can move the accident prone Frampton to Centre half just to accommodate Tillen for 18 minutes at Full Back it probably answers the question.

Pinault

Fitz knows all about Thomas from Layer Road. He was a teammate for the bast part of four years.

The classic remark on Thomas as his Colchester career came to an end was along the lines of "and there was our golden boy playmaker merrily nutmegging himself on the half way line as usual".

:sorted:

Since Fitz has been in he has almost bansihed Leroys players from the team. The best 3 Brentford players on the park today were Pinault, Kuffour and Heywood, all Leroys signings.

Pinault won loads of tackles, headers and was alaways available for a pass today, he rarely lost us the ball and played several inch perfect 40-50 yard passes. He showed just how usless Mousinho and Leary have been. It was nice to see a 'proper' midfielders performance today from Thomas, shame it's too late, thanks Fitz :sorted:

Pinault

he plays the ball round nice but he never does it where it counts to much his game is near the halfway line he needs to push on

Pinault

With respect the league wasn't "won or lost in winter". .

Have a look at the teams postioned at the bottom in League One over the past 15 years at Boxing Day and then tell me how many have stayed up.

Pinault

Let's face it Pinault has ten times more footballing ability than the rest of the team and has for all of this season. It's no surprise at times he's got p*ssed off playing with such dross who couldn't read a comic let alone his passes from midfield. Obviously knows he's being watched (Gretna ?) so really tried to turn it on today.

Pinault

I think were clutching at straws to be honest, he was nothing special today

Pinault

About 90% of his passes went either backwards or sideways. Whenever he opted to pass it forward, far too often he went for some 'fancy dan' long ball that inevitably resulted in the ball ending up with Cheltenham.

Within the context of the 'team' performance today he was better than most. He isn't the answer though.

Pinault

The bloke looked the only player on our team who could actually play a pass of any description, although it won't be popular with the 'Brooker fan club' the foppish haired one was the only other player who could pass water let alone a football.

Pinault

I thought Pinault was once again not caring. Biggest waster we have now. Nearly as bad as Skularson. Goodbye Thomas, If I see you at Griffin Park again in all eternity it'll be too soon.

Pinault

Pinault is a clown, he made a few passes. The midfield at gp has been non existant all season. Gretna is the best place for him, he might look good there. We need a Jackie Graham type of midfield player, someone to get stuck in and dictate the game. We do not have this at the moment, I am not blaming Pinault, he is no worse than the rest of the crap we have at our club.

Pinault

he reminds me of allan cockram. lots of ability; better on decent summer, early autumn or spring pitches than in the bleak mid-winter; flatters to deceive.

will probably play well on trial somewhere in july and get a contract!

Pinault

Another reason why Fitz must go, is he is thinking that Pinault has a future at BFC next season.

So the guy is struggling for a contract at another club, so he puts in a bit of effort for a few games when theres nothing to play for:rolleyes:

Another thing, has Pinault EVER made a killer pass or opened up the opposition??

If Keith, Shipperley and Willock play a few good games do we keep them?

The aim should be to keep Abbey, Osbourne (on peanuts as squad player) and Ide and get rid of the rest.

Pinault

The fact some people are thinking he is a bright spark shows how sh*t the squad is this season. He was one of the better ones in a very bad bunch yesterday. He clearly has ability on the ball, but he is a luxury we can't afford.

Pinault

Another reason why Fitz must go, is he is thinking that Pinault has a future at BFC next season.
Is he really? If that is the case it is vital that Fitz isn't at BFC next season. Pinault will play about four good games a season. We need players who will play forty good games a season.

Pinault

it's very difficult to play well when you aren't actually being picked

maybe it's the fact that we are a poor team that hasn't helped thomas. it's very difficult to pass the ball to players who don't want it

every time i have seen pinault he has looked to play simple balls and move into space to receive the ball back. it's not a hard concept but one beyond most of our current team

i am sure he won't be here last season but he has at least produced the occasional piece of quality. i actually think he works quite hard as well - he's never going to run 30 metres and put in a crunching tackle but the game isn't all about that. mousinho for example CAN do that but can't pass a football very well (even during half time knock about yesterday his distribution was borderline sunday league).

i'm not saying pinault hasn't had bad games but that's fairly common at our level of football. even kuffour has had a couple of stinkers and he's been our only real glimmer of light in a dire dire season.

Pinault

I remember Colchester coming to GP a couple of years ago when Parkinson was developing a good side that subsequently got promoted. They played some excellent football and if my memory serves me right Thomas was the hub of their midfield.

Pinault

I'd rather see Pinault having a bad game, than Leary have another bad game...he is becoming a constant headache...he adds nothing.

Pinault

Lets face it most of you dont like him cos he can actually play a bit, all most of you want is people to run around showing effort regardless of any quality.

2 central midfielders must consist of a hard tackling holding midfielder and someone who can play a bit, which is where we have gone wrong this year by having 2 exactly the same players who follow each other round the pitch for 90 minutes, just look at the lack of goals from central midfield, we all know it was that area where we went wrong all season, it was unfair to ask a young boy or two young boys who were so inexperienced to play that position. All we did was bring in strikers and that wasn't the problem for me, if we don't create from the midfield we aint gonna be scoring goals, forwards can't do it all!

We have also been let down by the usually reliable ones like Frampton and Oconnor who has been by far our worse player by a country mile.

How we play him week in week out is beyond me captain or not! The fella just isn't a captain and this year he's not even a footballer, so why people go on about Brooker and Pinault is a bit unfair IMO.

God knows why Abbey was dropped either what had he done wrong only to bring that clown Nelson back into the fold?

I think that Fitz should do the right thing and leave after todays game thus giving a fresh start for a proper manager to have the last 4 games to see what of this shambles he wants to keep for next season which won't be much thats for sure.

Rant over for now!

pinault was very good on saturday. i think people want quality and endeavour,
at least if like me they can remember a brentford midfield that comprised
kamara-hurlock-bowles

john moushino, has come in for a lot of criticism because, for all his heart,
he can't pass and generally isn't good enough to play at this level

o'connor should have been stripped of the captaincy months ago.
his body language is sullen and negative, offering no sort of leadership
to players or supporters.

when frampton was given the arm band whilst o'connor was out
his form and that of the team improved significantly.
then o'connor returned to the team and we re-commenced losing
and have continued to lose ever since.

fitz then compounded matters when made in inexplicable decision to drop abbey who had been by far our most consistent and inspirational performer

the bottom line is that the manager is out of his depth
and i call on him to give it up

Pinault

I heard from someone on New Road that Abbey is on 800 a game. This is presumably why he has been dropped. He needs to be snapped up for next season though.
I agree with RAYBFC123 that people dislike Pinault because he likes to play. Clearly when things aren't going good and a bit of fight is needed, players like him will appear to be lacking the effort required. He should have been playing instead of Leary. We could have saved some cash and at the same time had a player able to create chances rather than pick up Yellow cards. Keep him.

Have you EVER seen Pinault split a defence or play any killer ball?

He has technique of a foreign player, but never drives the team forward.:(

always been this way with brentford. hence all the fans for the likes of Hutch over the years.

Sorry but thats b***ocks.

If a player contributes to the team then Bees fans will support him. That may mean doing the nasty stuff if their is a creative edge elsewhere and that may mean a flair player who tries to create, but works for the team when he hasn`t got the ball. This has been the case ever since I started watching the BEES and an early example is Doug Allder.

Yes. More than once today. Unfortunately as with the rest of the season, no one was clever enough., quick enough, switched on enough or perhaps cared enough to get on the end of any of em.

Have you ever seen Pinault feed Kuffour and he certainly makes the runs?

He also has players in training such as Ide, who will make the runs? - He obviously didn`t impress Fitz I suppose.

Pinault

Been transfer listed since December. Made 3 appearences since then. No effort whatsoever. Willock was in the team by September with his effort. He might be sh*t but Willock has been one player who doesn't deserve as much criticism for effort than the likes of this waster. 4 more games to go until he's gone - the countdown begins.

second decent game in a row today..relatively speaking....the only player who seemed to know how to pass the ball in the team.

So in the last few minutes when Bees are piling into the box, and Willock is on the floor, doing his laces up, is effort..? I don't think you're correlation between Pinault's lack of effort on the pitch and absence from the team has any substance... how is it his fault that he was benched since he was transfer listed? Clearly out of favour. Pinault can pass, he doesn't pussyfoot tackling, and he doesn't do too much wrong. What would you rather have him do

Pinault

He did alright today, however he needs players who are able to read his passes and occasionally move for him so he doesn't constantly have to pass backwards or sideways.

I agree Smiffy - I would put Mousinho as a holding midfielder and Pinault the ball player.
I dont think he has been given enough of a chance since Fitz took over.

Not that many "ball players" in League Two and the reason for that is they are not needed. I think you have a surprise coming to you next season in terms of what will be dished up.

Pinault

In the Cheltenham game there were lots of attempted 1-2's where he passed and blatantly pointed to where he wanted the return pass to go. Only to see it hoofed in to a blind alley instead. Needs a good player alongside him. Unfortunately I don't think Leary or Mousinho are that player.
We retained the ball so much better with him on the pitch.
One to keep if we can get a decent partner for him.

I meant for the rest of the season, I should have specified that.

Its not and wont be a surprise to me Mark, a majority of the football matches I have been too, have been matches in the bottom two football league divisions.

Strangely though the ones that do have some are at the top end of the table.

Pinault

Just about the only co-ordinated play I've seen from us this season involved Pinault, Brooker and O'Connor working together in the early part of the season, but Pinault's overall contribution is inadequate: he does next to nothing when the other team have the ball and, though he controls the ball better than most when we have it, he never looks to threaten the other team with either a shot or a defence-splitting pass. He would look OK alongside other decent midfielders with forwards making good runs, but we won't have that next season so we need someone who will be involved more than him... though hopefully with a bit more skill than Mousinho

Pinault

He's the only Brentford player I have seen in about a decade who was capable of launching a long accurate backspin pass along the line (you know, like the ones on MOTD where the ball bounces back towards the winger rather than usual BFC style going out for a goal kick). On purpose. One of the few highlights of this season's (very few) games attended by me.
