Rhys Murphy

Sidwell and Burgess were at priemer league clubs when on loan at GP:wave:

As was that Spurs defender who smashed Gary Smith in training:wave:

Living memory not to be taken too literally, or I'll have to go back to 1968 or so.

Sidwell fantastic player, but came to us eight years ago. Surely argues to the point of keeping Arsene on side?

Ben Burgess also fine player at our level, but came from Blackburn via. Oz eight years ago, so doesn't count

Rhys Murphy

to say that he had a sh*te game yesterday, would be putting it kindly :(

he didnt care, put in zero effort and should never have been put on ahead of cort

Have to say that is one of the most ridiculously stupid posts I have ever seen on here and I even include many of my own in that.

Give him a chance for God's sake . There is a reason Arsenal have him and a reason he has played regularly for England U19s.

I predict he will come good - hopefully starting today if Mr Arsene lets us play him. I see no reason why Murphy and Cort can't play together to be honest.

Unfortunately I probably now have to miss the rest of the season through illness, but I would really have relished seeing Murphy, Bostock & Szczesny develop. I believe that they will all be fine players given time.

My real worry is the central m/field position which I believe is the core of our problems. I felt sometime ago that a lack of control in that area would be a problem & that the confidence of the team could suffer. Imo this has happened - see the last half hour after Walsall equalised - & this lack of confidence among the more senior players could affect the development of the loanees as well as our 'owned' younger players.

Sorry to hear that KGB. :( Hope you get well soon and in plenty of time for next season.

Is that the one who wound up at Aldersh!t recently

Rhys Murphy

In his 4 minutes of airtime, he won a header, he had a little run and he had a pop at goal from an impossible angle when we wanted him to hide in the corner with the ball.:D That was a step in the right direction, he'll be fine.

I agree. He gave their defenders something to think about at a time they were desperate to push forward.

Rhys Murphy

Play him with Strevens, it'll work. Find Bostock's best position, shore up the centre of midfield and we could actually start climbing the table.

Fully agree, think he would be worth a try from what I have seen and Charlie is not exactly poulling any trees up.

Rhys Murphy

i cant believe he hasnt scored yet. no wonder he hasn't made it at arsenal.

that was after the wycombe game and as i said later on it was not a poor peformance that bothered me i am willing to give him chance, it was the fact that against wycombe he did not try. he didn't chase down balls or try and make space and looked frankly very uniterested. to be honest it was scotts fault for putting him on in such a tough situation when cort was the obvious choice!

the quesiton is what the hell has Cort done to piss scott off that has put him so far down the pecking order when he has been playing very well in the little game time he has been given recently. cort should play ahead of murhpy who is inexperienced and offers little that is different to strevens and macdonald whereas Cort's physical presence means that he can cause problems for the opposition.

He can also reach the high shelves, where the mustard selection is kept, in the hot dog vending box, at Ealing Road. :owusu:

You have seen about 80 or 90 minutes of Rhys Murphy.:sorted:
he looks nippy, and keen, to my eyes.
Not seen any product yet, but I'll give him a chance, 4 games or so, before I lay into one of Arsenals' bright starlets, who might not be up to the Barry Quinn standards...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Can he get some onions down whilst he is up there please?

They are on back order -

Incidently, due to the poor turn out on Saturday, i had a surplus of Onions, on the Griffin Beer Garden burger stall.
Perhaps I should have offered them to the club ?

Is this lad going to get a chance? On the O/S Andys happy with Ben and Charlies partnership

I'm sure someone will miss a game or 2 at some point, but I wouldn't break up Ben and Charlie at this stage. Murphy could possibly also play wide

Surely if he is on Arsenal's books as a forward, he must have a touch that is too good for this division, I would like to see him get a good 20minute run out alongside Ben Strevens at the very least. He could be another Jordan Rhodes for all we know.

Rhys Murphy

yeah, cos we are really short of cover out wide.

I'm not suggesting that's why we signed him, but certainly if we wanted 3 up front in the closing stages, I'd see him ahead of Taylor, Saunders or Wood as one of the wide attackers.

He's in the squad as cover/replacement for Charlie, but Charlie currently deserves to keep his place

Rhys Murphy

Aren't we likely to upset Arsenal signing a loanee and then not playing him?

I wouldn't be so bothered if it were only this player, but we would rather like to keep their goalkeeper and there might be others in the future.

Rhys Murphy

Alright folks?

Gooner here in peace. Been meaning to sign up here for a wee while seeing as you got a couple of our youngins playing for you.

From the gist of this thread it seems like he's either not done much or not had a chance?

I actually rate the fella and if it weren't for his injury setbacks we'd've seen him in our CC squad this term.

Rhys Murphy

He's not had much of a chance.

Wegner can't be happy about Murphy being a bench warmer. He can do that for Arsenal reserves. I worry that if he doesn't get a game or two soon we won't be getting any loanees from the Gunners in the new year :(

Rhys Murphy

Come on Geoff. There's hopes and dreams and there's also lunacy.

That helps when you follow us though, doesn't it?
I don't get why Jack Wiltshire isn't saying to Wenger, " I want to go to Brentford!" He's seen his mate do well and he could have the chance to play at GP if selected, what more would a player want?

Prawn Sandwiches ??

Rhys Murphy

Okay, I know I am repeating what I already wrote on the Chesny thread, but really, if our Polish goalie is that good, how good might Rhys Murphy be? We've already had two Gooners giving him a good appraisal, are we going to get to see what he can do before his loan spell is up?

Rhys Murphy

Hopes and dreams...

Come on Geoff. There's hopes and dreams and there's also lunacy.
Lighten up, Mark.It is the season of goodwill, you know.:)
I doubt that our friend Lionheart is a lunatic, or from a different planet.
He simply implied that he would like to have Wilshire at Brentford. He never actually said that he thought we would get him.
Having said that, I think Andy Scott has done really well to attract guys like Chesney and Bostock to Griffin Park. No doubt some folk thought those would be beyond us.
As someone else has said on here recently, "if you don't ask, you don't get"...

I expect Rhys will get a chance before long, the formation we have played these last twp games did not require Rhys's skills.

Rhys Murphy

well that is the $64,000 question.

presume kabba and cort move on, then it will be between him, charlie ans strevens for one or two slots. at least he should become a used sub.
