Not a foul in my book but it won’t be rescinded, EFL will argue it was reckless and overly aggressive..

They will not admit a mistake in such an important game. They will though quietly shuffle Stroud away from future big games. Is my opinion.

The mistake was appointing him in the first place.

Hopefully including the game on Wednesday......

Rico Henry

Not a red but not a tackle that he really needed to make.

Rico Henry

Why was a ref like Keith Stroud put in charge of such a big game, he always has to be centre stage.

Rico Henry

Extraordinary reaction from the Swansea players. A bit like a contrived appeal in cricket..."Next foul everyone goes up together". Card should be rescinded. That is better than nothing but it didn't help us much tonight.

Rico Henry

A disgusting decision that caused the outcome of the game.

More I see it, the worse the decision.

It was a perfect tackle. The only contact was their player going over Henry’s back after he passed him.

Referee, Lino and 4th official all there for it

Rico Henry

That will be a three game ban if it’s not rescinded which I doubt. Remember Tony Craig another appalling Stroud decision abetted by the assistant ref, that was not rescinded.

He is a total *****. If the efl put that incompetent arsehole in charge of such an important game then we have a ****ing problem . I would not want him reffing a game in the Trowbridge and district league in Wiltshire. We have a problems in England, the best leagues but the worst inadequate refs and lines . Stroud is either a complete failure or a cheat. He has history with our club.

Rico Henry

More annoyed he will miss the final

Good to see Natalie standing up for us:

Hopefully will use her Talksport show to bring pressure to overturn the decision.
We need all the help we can get.

Also unusual to see MB getting involved in these sort of things:

The first comment on the top tweet by Natalie Sawyers is hilarious - the photo she tweets shows Rico winning the ball and the poor lamb Roberts trying to get his foot their first but this guy tweets:

It's probably not a red Nat but he does go in wildly with his studs showing and arguably gets the ball because Connor Roberts jumps out of his way rather than it being a "great tackle"

he only jumps after Rico wins the ball ffs

Rico Henry

Trouble is it all depends on the angle from which it was seen by Stroud. It could look reckless . However viewed from another angle he clearly got the ball.
I think l know which way the appeal will go and we won't win it. Maybe that will galvinise us for weds ? .

If we don’t win the appeal we’ll have a problem as we don’t have great back up there at the mo. They will def target that side. Rico is also a major part of our attacking play..

Agree but if we get at it we can still come through this and use it as motivation

Rico Henry

I honestly can’t believe it’s even being discussed that there is a remote possibility that the suspension will remain after appeal.

Am I the mental one?

This is the EFL... they did a league cup draw in a supermarket.....

Not the right thread but will Thomas then go to a back three, using Canos and Fosu as the two wing backs? Huge gamble but will negate their wing backs and enable us to have someone in closer support to Ollie so he is not one against three up front.

Rico Henry

That's what I think too

Rico was running at full pelt ,almost from the middle of the park to the flank. He definitely got the ball it is there for all of us to see. No injury received by the Swansea player as the ball took most of the impact. Swans player goes to ground as nature of the slide tackle. Seen these before, mostly in prem league and have seen yellow given, i get that. Defo not a red . FRANK IS RIGHT, getting to prem league, x amount of millions of pounds to the winner. Yet the efl appoint a clown like Stroud to officiate. And Steve hypocrite Cooper , what would he have said if that was his player making the challenge. Definately a red , no chance you ******.

Rico Henry

When will the appeal be heard?

Presumably it will be lodged ASAP when the FA open this morning?

On the subject of Swansea and sending players off was it a league game or the play off where Nelson got sent off?

Play Off

Rico Henry

There is surely a case of VAR being used for Championship Play Offs moving forward. It’s too important not too.

Rico Henry

Rico Henry

That’s the seventh time Stroud has sent off a Brentford player.

Rico Henry

The difference is the Nelson sending off was the correct decision

Didn't we appea! Nelson' s red card, despite it being a blatant red, in order that he could play in the second leg? Didn't matter in the end but had we reached the final George Bankole would have played. I presume the rules are different now. I'll be pleased if it is rescinded but probably more angry that a pony decision, ruled as incorrect, has affected us on the day so profoundly. Defeat is one thing, but not in this way.

Fairly certain we did appeal. Not sure it was that blatant as I don't think the panel added on anything for a frivolous appeal which they have the power to do

Yes we did and lost and Clark Masters played in the opening game of the next disastrous relegation season - and kept a clean sheet against Blackpool!

I have spoken to a colleague who is a ref in Italy. He says the worst that could have been is a yellow.

You know Pierluigi Collina? Wow:fishing:

Rico Henry

Ayews shin to Rayas head anyone?
Yep, noticed that on the replay.....as well as the linesman missing the blatant offside.....totally avoidable/unnecessary....

Rico Henry

Ayews shin to Rayas head anyone?

Yes noticed that, very snidey. Ayew was a real handful for us but also a cheating git who looked to win cheap free-kicks constantly - which Stroud of course was quite happy to oblige.

Rico Henry

My main issue with the use of excessive. Excessive means "more than is necessary".

The force was not more than was necessary. It was exactly the necessary amount of force to put a good challenge in. In fact, if he put LESS force in, it would have been late and injured the player.

Rico Henry

Danny Murphy backing up Natalie on Talksport this morning: "Stroud got carried away. Never a Red. Not even a Yellow. Will definitely be overturned. Over-reaction of Swansea players is a 'disgrace' Steve Cooper will agree when he watches it back"
