further down the line means he is later in his recovery!Josh is closer to playing than Rico??

Yeah, it was the '{than Rico]' bit that didn't make sense....further down the line means he is later in his recovery!
No I think that's meant to mean he's further away not closer.Josh is closer to playing than Rico??
Ahhhh! Thanks. No I think that's meant to mean he's further away not closer.
I think this was was the source

It's further down the line, means further away than Rico, that's how I read it.I was surprised too and, on reflection, think the person who interpreted it in comparison to Rico got it wrong. Take the bracketed wording out and it can be read differently.
Aren't we still recruiting?Maybe our head of medical can chip in with some information. Oh hold on we dont have one!

And you don't think that someone will be deputising and in charge of medical matters whilst we recruit for a new head of medical? Not having a person at the club in charge of medical matters just adds to confusion and communication. Its a mess.
Someone has been appointed and I believe he’s working out his notice. Not having a person at the club in charge of medical matters just adds to confusion and communication. Its a mess.
Agree.Ridiculous amount of games that our 2 first choice full backs have missed in the last 12 months.............
In short, all of them!!!![]()
I've liked your post because I agree. Those who don't, will probably say......our owner takes calculated risks and he's been proved right so far. He has. Long may his judgement / luck continue.Agree.
Madness that we have had a year without a recognised permanent RB or LB.
No chance of that.cant wait for Rico's return but hope we dont risk trying to throw him back into the mix too early , happy to wait until hes 100% although it is frustrating
He’s a jack of all trades and good but master of none. Modern day Jamie Bates. When do we call Ajer a right back BTW?

We signed a left back. It's not even surprising any more.
Plenty said we needed a full back in in the summer. Plenty said 'No need - Rico will be back - we're not going to have him on the bench. And Hickey will be back soon - no need to panic.' Others replied 'there's no guarantee of that - let's get someone as it's such a specialised position'.
I sympathise with Rico as he must be more frustrated than anyone. But this was all so predictable.
That's what I was thinking??We signed a left back.
Yes - and very promising he looked too, v. Orient. We signed a left back.
He’s a jack of all trades and good but master of none. Modern day Jamie Bates.
"There is still a lot he can learn, but Jayden is a player we have big belief in. He can help us this season and in the future.”Yes - and very promising he looked too, v. Orient.
Not sure it was envisaged he was ready for regular first team duties this season?

Sorry i don’t agree, Ajer is top quality right back im very happy with him playing thereHe’s a jack of all trades and good but master of none. Modern day Jamie Bates.
Happy, although he is no master at right back.Sorry i don’t agree, Ajer is top quality right back im very happy with him playing there
That’s nowt. We used to get injured properly. Sometimes they’d have to sew us legs back on. And we’d be out for ten years at a time. Tell that to ‘t youngsters these days and they won’t believe you.…………..two hopes………….lucky by the New Year………..
You missed a bit = "Sometimes they'd have to sew us legs back on and we'd have to go back on the pitch for the rest of the game."That’s nowt. We used to get injured properly. And that’s my view too.Happy, although he is no master at right back.
I think superb is stretching it. Rico is superb. Can’t say Ajer is at his footballing level.Ajer has been superb in both full back positions. I’m more then happy for him to play right back and I’d start Meghoma on the left.
Tasty tasty very very tasty...He’s a jack of all trades and good but master of none. Modern day Jamie Bates.
Some of his runs and passing out of defence are pretty damn good.I think superb is stretching it. Rico is superb. Can’t say Ajer is at his footballing level.
One lad ‘ad to delay ‘is retirement by fifty years because of ‘ow bad ‘e used to get injured. You missed a bit = "Sometimes they'd have to sew us legs back on and we'd have to go back on the pitch for the rest of the game."

There’s absolutely no point in Rico playing a first-team game if the medical and conditioning staff are not 100% sure, in their opinion, that he’s ready for it. Our recent history is not just injuries but injuries to players returning from injury, so I’d say this caution is the result of our record.Pep‘s comments about Rodri‘s injury were interesting, saying that muscle injuries after so long out extends the period out beyond expected timings which appears to be the issue with Rico, he needs time albeit we want him playing asap, and returning too soon won’t help anyone. As Always Up The Bees
Completely agree. There’s absolutely no point in Rico playing a first-team game if the medical and conditioning staff are not 100% sure, in their opinion, that he’s ready for it. Our recent history is not just injuries but injuries to players returning from injury, so I’d say this caution is the result of our record.
Having said that, I’d keep him away from Mateo Kovačić when we next play City.
But we made a signing ‘the Brentford Way’©, with Jayden Meghoma, who is expected, I hope, to replace Rico in the longer term. No-one could know before the season… or even now… exactly when Rico would be ready to play, so Jayden is also on a similar timeline but for different reasons. We were never going to lash out on a Premier League starter on that basis.Completely agree.
But there were a majority of posters on here in July, including some who often post opinion as fact, expecting him to practically play every PL game when he returned. We had numerous comments like 'we don't need another FB - no-one is displacing Rico and we're not dropping him for someone we don't need.'
Even if Rico had come back at the time he was expected, he was always going to be eased back gently and was never going to play 90 mins in many games. Now he will be eased back even more gently. Whenever that is.
I'm just surprised lots of fans didn't see that coming.
Ecky thump lad, I used to dream about having my legs sewn back on before going back onto the pitch for the rest of the game, I lived in a shoe box and worked down t'pit for 12 hours straight before coming home to wash in a tin bath...You missed a bit = "Sometimes they'd have to sew us legs back on and we'd have to go back on the pitch for the rest of the game."
