Rico Henry

Really interesting yourube article, about his rehab and Jamaica call up.
Looks like he was close to a call up, when he got injured.

I had forgotten about the various setbacks he had suffered during his long recovery (e.g. 2 hamstring injuries). He must be mentally very strong. Brilliant to see him back in the team and hitting the high levels of the old Rico we know.

Great video

I am not sure if I missed it, but after being out for a year, was the first set back his knee again? He talks about the hamstring issues which tend to happen when players are getting back to fitness, but didn’t him and Hickey both get another year out (almost) due to recurrence ?

Excellent video and a great reminder that there's a young human who's having to deal with some serious personal setbacks. Then working to get back to a level to complete when the team and his competitors are going to a higher level.

Only a small part is the sportsman we see trying to do his best on match days.

Ricoooo......

Rico Henry

Closest??? It was Trippier that crocked him!!!!!
It wasn't Trippier that caused Rico's injury. If you watch the recent item on YouTube you will see that it was as Rico changed direction that the injury occurred. Class from Trippier to welcome Rico onto the field... followed by a class finishing performance by our Rico.

Came on in the 81st minute of todays(surely was yesterday) 1-1 draw Vs Trinidad...the bloke who he came on for was the striker according to live score !...

Ethan also got 90 mins

and picked up a yellow card! (By the way it was a World Cup qualifier)

An insightful video. Bravo.

Despite him being with us for years, that is the first time I have ever heard him speak. Which is similar to how he runs - Fast!
I’ve definitely heard him do some of those after match snippets, maybe even in the Championship, he’s been here that long! They might not use him too much now, purely because he does speak so fast.

I've seen it many many times so don't need to see it again and Trippier crocked him, thats why he applauded him when he came on, I'm just pleased he's back again

I of course stand to be corrected but my memory says that although close by Rico when his injury occurred Trippier never touched him and in fact immediately kicked the ball out of play when he saw how serious the injury was. Respect to him for that.

Rico Henry

Oh because Trippier is such a nice guy is he.... NOT!!!!!
Not really got anything to do with it. He didn't cause Rico's injury, you're simply wrong on this, but of course you have history for running away rather than admitting your errors so, see ya

Christ you don’t half come out with some crap - remember Hickey?

I’ve no idea what Trippier is like. You might be right and he may well be a prat but he was not to blame for Rico’s injury.

Please don’t bother replying as I’ve put you on ignore.

He may be. He's a professional footballer. It's his job. He may be the nicest bloke off the field but on it he's paid to do a job. I haven't seen the incident as I have no desire to watch it but I respect the opinion of knowledgeable people on here who say that Trippier had nothing to do with except for doing what he's paid to do.

You are simply lying because if you’ve seen it even once you would know that there was no contact whatsoever. Not even close to it.

Like he did when he got needlessly lary with NLB the previous week, @BmthBee has decided that he can't face being wrong so he'll just run away and hope we all forget. Let's hope he's not "going for the hattrick" next week 🤦‍♂️

Not much time for Rico (or Ethan) to get back into things at Jersey Road after WC Qualifiers this week.

01:00 kick off on Wednesday in Jamaica....

Bizarre that Steve McClaren didn't start him as he obviously knows all English players very well and must know his qualities. Rico and Ethan might end up coming up against the snake whose name I can't mention but rhymes with Pissa in the March intercontinental playoffs.

I watched the game last night, and honestly, they played at a League Two level. It was poor from start to finish. The pitch didn’t help, and all the long balls made it even worse. In a way, I’m relieved Rico didn’t come on. Under Steve McClaren, the football was shockingly bad, no structure, no plan, and absolutely no midfield.

There are maybe two players in the entire Jamaica squad anywhere near Rico’s standard: Bobby Decordova-Reid and Demarai Gray. Even they had poor games. The team couldn’t string together more than three passes and just kept hoofing it forward. Ethan was the only one who looked composed; he dominated the aerial battles and was easily Jamaica’s best player and that’s not just my Brentford bias talking.

Rico would’ve been brilliant if he’d been called upon, dominanting that left side. But McClaren folded under pressure. The media and fans were on him all week about bringing in players from abroad for such an important game, complaining they “lacked Caribbean football experience,” whatever that’s supposed to mean.

After watching that performance, it’s clear: Rico is simply too good for this team. He’s probably the best player Jamaica have, and yet McClaren bottled it. No surprise he resigned afterward.

Play-off it is.

We’ve been here before with the guy. Talks and talks a good game. Comes to the delivery folds to external pressures. Ends up a mess.

I have to concur with this. It was a fascinating watch though!

Rico resigned - does that mean he can come back into the England set up?

Hadn't realised it but it was Rico that basically won it for us by being the player that challenged for the ball first for Igors second goal. Was very good when he came on yesterday and followed Keith's instructions for the full backs to get forward to the letter.

👍
A bit surprised looking at the replay that that **** Walker didn't try to claim he was fouled by Rico....

Rico Henry

Yes very important back post run picked out by Henderson for the “winner”, and did more than enough in challenging for the ball to stop Walker from clearing the danger.

Having him available is example of where our strength in depth is helping us and how we were able maintain and increase our levels where Burnley faded.
