I wonder if we'll miss him. Maybe if we get a free kick, but apart from that I doubt it. Majorly frustrating to watch him for 90% of his time at BFC IMO.

If Saunders is only good for free kicks, we may aswell sell him, forrester is better

I will miss him saturday one of my all time favourite players,he often gives me a wave.

We'd need a taker to sell him. Agree that he's a luxury, for every Orient performance they'll be 10 no shows. Minimal workrate, no pace, too many Hollywood passes that don't arrive at their target. Hope Forrester takes his chance.

Sam Saunders

If Saunders plays like he did for large spells of the second half of last season, he's more than good enough for us. Free-kicks aside though, he hasn't really hit the ground running so far this season and his performances haven't lived up to those of last year. The fact that he was injured in pre-season and again now though could hint that he's come into the season not 100% fit though.

Forrester has played 78 minutes for us. You can't make deductions like that so soon.

Why not? Is there a law against it?

Sam Saunders

A decent player when fit but hearing that once again he is out for a lengthy spell is disappointing. Some players are very injury prone and therefore of minimal use to their clubs -. Hopefully Forrester will prove to be a useful alternative with a better fitness record.

His overall play was sh*t against Orient. Thankfully for him, his free kicks masked that.

Sometimes I really think the word supporter shouldn't be used in conjucture with football.

Seriously all the people raving about Forrester and how he is the best thing ever, will only be calling for him to be dropped, once he gets in the team.

This board is so ****ing depressing at times.

I hope HF takes his chance too. According to the Bees Player on tuesday he hardly put a foot wrong. SS aint as good as he thinks he is, and when he is left out of the team he aint missed. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if he was shipped out on loan, or better still transfered.

1 goal from open play in his bees career says a lot for a midfielder, i imagine he wont be here next season

Unfortunately, Sam hasn't delivered consistently for us although no doubt for me he is a talented footballer. I was delighted when we signed him based on him pulling the strings and destroying us both home and away for Daggers

His form stutters between injuries, comes back after big
lay offs and we get glimpses of his ability to dictate play but
then it's almost like he gets complacent and he slides into mediocrity.
The run of games when injury crisis forced AS to pick him, 3 or 4 games up to Southampton away he showed
how good he can be but they're sadly too few and far between for him to be more than a squad player for me.

Agree with this summary. He's not just a dead ball specialist, he has skill and occasionally plays a more significant role. But too often he is on the margins and is a luxury player we often can't afford

..............No, but there should be :)

John Bostock and Richard Lee come to mind for different reasons

I'm not sure why people keep mentioning Bostock in this way! Bostock was a class act and far far too good for this league! We played him out of position and didn't utilise his strengths and people talk about him like he was a bad player. Anyone who couldn't see his ability is not fit to comment in anyone elses!!

Dont worry about it mate.......some people on here couldnt see talent if it came up to them and smacked them in the face. :mad1:

I find the venomous criticism of players on here uncomfortable. Some of it is so destructive. Constructive criticism should always be welcome.

Let's hope they don't read the GPG. I'm sure some posters are ex NOW staff as they are sooooooo far out with the facts on players.

Sam Saunders

Saunders seems to play well when he is the "main man". He was at Dagenham. He appeared to be Forster's favourite. Woodman can take good free kicks (see our third goal on Tuesday). Forrester took good corners on Tuesday. We can do much better than Saunders.

Bostock was a class act, we probably killed his career with the snidey "can't be bothered" stuff that Spurs quoted. Why play Bostock in the middle when you have KOC and Bean FFS, oh Andy Scott, Andy, Andy, Andy Scott......... this myth that Bostock was crap is baffling.

I find it surprising.....well maybe not !, some people on here are happy if we have loyal, 100% triers, never mind how much natural talent they possess. This mentality is why we've been stuck in the bottom 2 divisions for years and years . I agree Sam Saunders isn't the complete player, none of our squad are, they ( well mostly) have strengths and weaknessess, if they didn't they wouldn't be wearing a Brentford shirt.
Uwe's no fool and given time I believe he'll make us a better team, but IMO it's unlikely to happen until the contracts of some players run down and they can be replaced with better quality.

Bostock would revel in the current style. I'd have back tomorrow. He's a thinker so a Rosler type of player

Sam Saunders

You dont like him do you? ........I'll tell you what , lets have more Beans' and KOC's in the team.:rolleyes:
Bean has scored a fair few from open play, and KOC is a good squad player. Saunders has flattered to deceive for so long now.

I'm not a big fan of either, but in all honesty according to Bees Player KOC was for them MOM against the dongs.

The trouble with Saunders is that too many weaknesses are over riding his strengths. I also find it incredibly annoying that when a flair player is criticised, people naturally assume that the alternative is "KOC or Bean". Not the case at all for me but no team would tolerate a winger who doesn't defend well and doesn't have the pace to beat a man unless he is very, very good elsewhere.

Sam is a legend in his own lunchbox, a special teams player for free kicks if ever there was one, more lows than highs and sadly flattered to deceive. I'm not sure if I'd prefer KOC or Bean on the wing to him but I'd go with someone else if possible.

I still think he should be in the 16. We have one pacy winger on the left, who cannot adapt his game to play on the right !!...and a very pacy wingback (Logan) on the right. It seems Uwe is happy with that set up.

Sam Saunders

Sam is a good player on his day but I think he gets physically overpowered to easily and once this happens he starts to give up and run out of ideas. His attitude is very up and down too but he was very good in that spell upto xmas last year. I don't think he will improve much though!

I would prefer a young pacy option to him as he is surplus to requirements in the centre of midfield now we have better options there. Dagenham used to play him there before anyone asks.

Sam Saunders

I'm sure Uwe has his own ''Who's for the chop'', ''Who's for the Gooner'' hit list when certain contracts expire. Difficult to say who is top of his list though. Still, at least our players get paid, unlike those poor sods at Plymouth. At the moment we have too many injuries to let anyone go. When does the loan window open? Should be interesting.

Sam Saunders

Gave it to Kev as he was like the player I had seen in the past, Strong in the air, combative, powerful in the tackle and distributed well. Just what you needed against a flair team like MK.

Sam Saunders

We an say what we like really. But the reality is Sam is in his final year of his contract, has he reached his peak, will he get better? Sam is likeable, a dead ball specialist, and the wrong side of twenty. Is he quick enough, good in the tackle, does he give the player behind him enough cover? I have my opinion, and will keep it to myself. So it is up to you to decide.

Sam Saunders

I was a fan of Saunders and felt he was not used enough by the previous manager and when he got a chance like away at Southampton last season he was one of our best players in that terrific away win. However when he did get a regular place under NF he became too much of a poser,he has without question a good delivery of the ball but he's not a team player. With his latest injury and players like forrester and loanees coming in his chances of getting games are deminishing.Like many on here felt he was the best of the Dagenham 3 perhaps Wycombe beckons.

You be careful..........you talk too much sense.:D

Sam Saunders

Sorry you are right.......KIng Kev and Beanaldo are the way forward.

Except he didnt say they were the way forward did he. Anyway, comparing Sam with Bean and KOC is like comparing apples with oranges. The former is a wide player whilst the other two are central midfielders and in Kev's case a RB as well. I think there are currently better options in the squad than an inconsistent and slightly limited Saunders however, Bean and Kev are not two of them.

I'd agree but I've seen Bean twice on the right flank and Kev once on the left flank so far this season. Some would say that it's experimental, I'd go for mental.

your right I don't rate him and never have, last season it was a novelty when he came on the scene after being bored rigid with Andy Scott with his nice passes and all that but now I am sick of his hollywood balls that fly off the pitch, lack of crosses that come from open play, Beckham never had any pace or skill yet he worked bloody hard for the team and I dont see that from Saunders and I prefer Sam Wood over him as a player but not on the right, his deadballs are good but if I took every free kick near the box I'd like to think I would score 5 goals from 45 games....The final straw for me was the JPT final, every corner was either over or underhit and he shot at every opportunity ignoring team mates in the meantime.

Sam Saunders

Bostock in front of Douglas would be a formidable pairing

Would be nice, after hearing Bostock's dad try and explain away the comments after his loan period with us makes me think that hell would have to freeze over before he went near us. I get the impression that a midfield of Bostock, Forrester, Douglas and McGinn would be a very clever foursome, it's good to think that we probably have a clever clever threesome already.

A very clever threesome indeed. It's just a pity that all that cleverness is offset by Miles 'Forrest' Weston...
