Bit harsh on Taylor IMHO. Wide players like him need the service to get them into the game otherwise they often look out of it...we haven't exactly excelled in that area lately. I know it was ony Gateshead but I thought he was very good in that game.

Weston is better at making the space for the pass so perhaps has made more moves so far.

As for Saunders he has the skill but maybe too lightweight physically for this level.

"As for Saunders he has the skill but maybe too lightweight physically for this level"...............rubbish

Sam Saunders

With regard to saunders I was not alone last year in saying on a thread he was the one player I would most like us to sign - few opposition players stand out to the extent he did. If we get rid of him with him having done little here I think it will owe as much to the club as the player. Would have been much more sensible to sign a decent centre midfielder than Taylor.

Sam Saunders

I still think he will come very very good!

Same.

Yet another very decent player shot dead by our current poor management skills.

One person on here has alluded that Andy isn't a very nice person, toys out the pram Etc. I know he is right.

But when you win the League you can't question that. Maybe a bit above yourself, but Championship winner, can't row with that can you?

But now you can. When It's all gone tits up...

Not a bad thing if you get results, but that's not happening.

He needs to get real, stop making excuses and give us some football and results. Soon.

Sam Saunders

I'd be interested to know how you form that view. Not saying it's not true - I have no idea - so it would be good to know how you have that insight.

Did Andy run over your dog by mistake or something, as you seem to be running a hate campaign against him.

Another late night post with nothing to back up the allegations you make.

The person you mention has a massive axe to grind from what I understand.

If Sam Saunders had produced the goods on the pitch consistantly he would be playing, he hasn't so he isn't.

He has been unfortunate that when Dickson got injured we were so short of options he had to play on the left and that role clearly didn't suit him but he's had chances since and not taken them.

I'd love to have NLB's optimism.

Sam Saunders

.

OUCH!!!

Got to disagree WEB, from what I saw of Saunders last season, and the games against Bristol City and Norwich this season, he looks a class act.

But it must be said that I have only seen him against Norwich, Bristol City where he was class, Bristol Rovers when we were 3-0 down at the time and for some reason he was brought on for Weston instead of Taylor, Stockport when he only came on for fifteen minutes (and looked good, but so did Taylor, Stockport were awful though!), Exeter where we were two down, and nobody seemed to pass to him and nobody could have been worse then Taylor that day!

So haven't seen him that much, but he's looked a lot better then Taylor IMO.

Sam Saunders

I'm sorry but you have no idea whether there is any truth in most of that. How can you possibly agree?

The fact that even after Tuesday night's shambles, AS still chose to blame the weather, says to me that there - sadly - might be a grain of truth in some of these rumours.

He did not blame the weather. He spoke about the weather certainly but he didn't blame it, just like he didn't blame the position of the dugouts against Walsall.

At least AS tries to give some insight into the way he thinks. I think it would be better for him to just trot out the usual bog standard cliches in his press conferences because people don't seem to want to take all of what he says in.

He said Wycombe adapted them selves better to the bad conditions I think.I read that as blaming the weather. One boy in my sons school team this week was moaning about the slippery pitch,I told him it was the same for both teams and the other team were getting on with it and beating us!

Sam Saunders

Is it blaming the weather or is it explaining why he feels his team lost the game?

I actually said to my son that they played the conditions better during and after the game. I took it that he meant that they were aggresive and ran at us whilst we punted long balls and tried aimless dinked balls in the hope that something broke our way.

Sam Saunders

He is an arrogant and nasty man, both to his management and players.

Back this comment up please.
You often make these "in the know" comments, but never back them up.

It leads me to believe they are made up in the hope that some take it on board as true and whole different complex to the facts is created.

I didn't say I was agreeing with him. I just like the way he calls a spade a spade. He dont **** about or mince his words and I like that.

What's wrong with that? English is just words. Davee uses his words regarding AS in an agressivive manner, and one knows exactly where you stand with him. I like that in a person. If someone thinks i'm a **** , i dont lose any sleep over it. I've said so many times on here i was against the appointment of AS and still am. This is just my opinion, so live with it.

Just out of interest were you so against on the appointment on April 25th this year just after we beat Darington 3-1 ?

Do you agree with that "eloquently put" statement or not and if so, can you tell me what you base that fact - not opinion, I'm afraid - on?

No LB I dont agree with it. Unless you have concrete proof I would ignore it.
As I have already said I like the way Davee speaks his mind,no more no less. I didn't say I was agreeing with him. And my comment ''Eloquently put'' was a piss take.

Sam Saunders

There's speaking your mind....and making comments that do not have any justification.

Sam Saunders

yes possibly.Conditions were the same for both teams though and maybe AS had the tactics wrong, again.

I'll point you in the direction of this set of quotes:

"I made it very clear that with the conditions it would then be hard for Wycombe to get out of their half.
"But we’ve got to get there first.
"They smashed it out from the centre, we didn’t deal with the thrown in, we give away a stupid free kick, put ourselves under pressure, the linesman gives a handball and we’re 1-0 down.
"So after talking about things at half time, we were then a goal down two minutes into the half and never regained our composure.
"We didn’t pass it as well as we had in the first half an hour."

I'm sure this would be described as "criticising the players", which is also a crime in GPG land.

Scott is clearly unhappy with what some of his players are doing, which is why he is replacing them.

I have heard a story from a very reliable reliable source that would seem to suggest that was is stated in Davee's penultimate paragraph above to be true. How do I know? I know the player concerned. I can't/won't go into specifics, but I trust him and what he said.

Some people will no doubt shoot me down in flames for not givng more detail but I'm sure you can understand my reluctance to do so. All I know is that what I was told did not paint a good picture...

Sam Saunders

I am trying to come up with any 'nice guy' managers who are managing in the top flight. I could only think of Paul Hart & Gianfranco Zola. 1 sacked & 1 on borrowed time.

Well done for coming forward. You shouldn't be shot in flames for listening to yor mate.

Sam Saunders

I don't think you have to be a nice guy but you do need a manager who can get his players to "walk thru hell" for him, the Germans typically like a manager to be firm and authoritative but most importantly produce the results to ensure there livelihood. I think that a behavioral scientist would draw very pointed conclusions from the interviews AS gives, may I suggest MA wasn't a very nice person but he did get commitment from his players, Butcher was just plain nasty and I don't think he'd get anybody to perform, I still remember the pre-season friendlies where he abused the players in earshot of the crowd. AS needs to take advice on this aspect of his management so that it matches his other undoubted skills.

Alex Ferguson shouts at players too and is famed (and revered) for it. Maybe it goes with the territory.

Sam Saunders

Shouted at for playing badly? Boo hoo. Isn't that what we do from the terraces

Sam Saunders

Quite a few managers at GP have been in your face types, Holder, Allen, Callaghan come to mind. Equally there have been quieter characters like Dodgin and Coppell who were equally successfull. Some players presumably respond to a verbal kick in the goolies while others require the arm around the shoulder approach. It's down to the manager how he approaches this provided he doesn't misjudge things like Butcher did. It's the end product on the pitch which concerns me. What did our coaching staff learn from playing Walsall last week? Hopefully a great deal.

Sam Saunders

Is this the Sam Saunders thread?

Sam Saunders

If AS was that bad I don't think Hamer Bennet and Wilson would want return to the club after being on loan

Sam Saunders

Players are not, or should not be shrinking violets. They know that if they do not perform then they, and/or the manager will be replaced.

I see nothing wrong with AS expressing his frustration when things go wrong.

It is also worth mentioning that press conferences are held shortly after the end of a game when emotions are still running high and I suspect that sometimes things are not expressed exactly as one wishes.

That being said I would rather have someone telling it as it is - or even as he sees it, rather than mouth bland nothings.

I only get concerned if an individual player is criticised by name in public, that is, in theory wrong and the comments should be expressed in provate.

However if a specific player continues to make the same mistake then it is probably understandable why he might get criticised.

I think AS has held his tongue in private really well about the goalkeepers who have been enough to make him tear his hair out.

I also agree a bit of introspection and self analysis would also not be remiss.

Sam Saunders

AS is no where as bad as people on here. I have never known a support so quick to turn on its players and staff.

I take all such sources with a big pinch of salt, players not in the team or not playing well will often blame the manager/ have a go at him in private.

If it were generally true why would Bean have readily signed a new contract, Charlie very keen to follow suite and why have these impressive loanees not said they will be heading back after one month...and if AS is supposedly like it with "management" why have they given him an improved contract etc...?

Maybe AS has said a few home truths to one or two players and they don't like hearing it.

Sam Saunders

a friend of mine saw AS flushing sam saunder's head down the toilet at brentford macdonalds.

Les, this wasn't a question of shouting at a player - this was a very spiteful & vindictive act.

Stanley,
I don't take this source with a big pinch of salt, I trust the source implicitly. Why? Because it's not "someone told me someone said this", but because the source was the player himslef, who happens to be family - I trust him.

Regarding Bean & Mac - of course they want to sign new contracts - they want security.

Regarding Scott's new contract, I don't know the details on that but had the impression it was less rigid than the previous one and if for whatever reason there was a parting of the ways, it would be easier (i.e. less hassle on both sides) to break. I may be wrong on this though - perhaps someone can enlighten us.

PS - sorry for the digression from the original theme of the thread.
