Les, this wasn't a question of shouting at a player - this was a very spiteful & vindictive act.

Are you Welsh? It's not Lewis Price, is it? If AS threw a football at him expecting him to catch it, then I agree, that was very spiteful.

Sam Saunders

I though he was excellent when he came on on monday, he was alot more effective than Bostock and he deserves an extended run in the team. Once he gets a goal and a run in the team I believe he will be a great asset for us.

agreed :sorted:, what was it, 14 goals last season from midfield? even half that would be good, considering knocks & illnesses so far this season

Just been informed by a Bristol City fan that Brentford accepted a bid for Saunders from them.

I dont have any proof so I dont know if this is True at all ! Time will tell

Didn't SS play a blinder against City in the pre season friendly?

Sam Saunders

WHAT?????????

Thats what I was like, but without 100% story, god knows what is happening.

Hope its all a mistake and that their "interested" and not made a bid

Or the City fan could be pulling my leg, then id feel stupid.

No way Jose. I think he's pulling your leg. If not, happy days. :D Anything more than £100,000 is very generous.

Bad news again in my opinion. Saunders is really someone who hasn't really been given a chance and I beleive he's a great prospect. A lot of Norwich supporters around here have a high opinion of him and would like to see him at Carrow Road. I know AS is good at 'wheeler dealing' but can't see him replacing Saunders, Dickson and Cort with similar standard players. Hope I'm wrong though. :(

In fairness to Scotty I think Saunders has been given a chance, like most of the squad. I also have a high opinion of him and want him to succeed, but at the end of the day if he does not make the most of his chances when they come he will be shipped out. I think he has a good touch and is a better bet than Taylor, but he needs to produce consistently. He did well when he came on against Charlton and you can see he has a good footballing brain, but he has to deliver week in week out. Also everyone has their price, so if a generous offer was received for him then I am sure that Scotty would be tempted, especially if he has a better replacement lined up. Not sure where you are coming from when you say that you can't see him replacing Saunders, Dickson and Cort with similar standard players, its a load of tosh I'm afraid. There are always better players out there either on loan or permanent. You only have to look at Scotty's record to see that:confused:

I still believe that SS is a major asset to the club and hope that we keep hold of him.

Sure, everyone has their price and he was fantastic against Bristol City so they have obviously kept an eye on him since.

The fact that a Championship team is also potentially considering a bid for SS shows that others also have a high opinion of him.

What worries me is that if we do sell how will he be replaced. Loanees are all well and good but we need as many decent "owned" players as possible and SS IMO comes into that category.

Just don't believe this one, Dicko maybe but not a player who can't hold a place in our team going to a PL wannabee.

It's happened before - remember one Stephen Hunt? From out of favour Brentford winger to Premiership star...sort of.

that was because of Coppell, Hunt was on his way to Bradford.. it turned out as great move, as no one knew that was on the cards:cool:

I would like to see him stay. I think the thing that holds him back is his lack of pace. In the right system that would not be a problem, for us at present I think it is a bit of an issue.

Sam Saunders

Stay he deserves it after his run i nthe team of late, played excellent at Gills and home to Charlton.
Weston on the Left
Saudners on the Right

Bristol City to bid for Millwall keeper David Forde, Hull winger Peter Halmosi and have had bids accepted by Brentford for Sam Saunders and Charlton for Lloyd Sam, although only two players are expected to arrive.

I also want SS to do well and establish himself in the team, however, he has largely disappointed since his move at the beginning of the season. That's not to say he wont come good, but we need to remain in this division at the very least this season and if that means letting go some players who are no performing as expected then so be it. Hence my comment about every player having a price. Sometimes by letting players go (especially for a fee) can be of benefit to the whole team, which I believe Scotty has shown on a number of occasions. One example of this was Elder who many supporters at the time could not understand why he was sold. But it eneabled AS to bring in a better quality of player, nothing to do with Elder doing well, or not. Its about looking at the bigger picture, and improving the team as a whole at every opportunity, within budget of course.

Only two.............Is that because of the weather ??

Sam Saunders has already shown a glimpse of his talent and is one we need to persevere with. He's been inconsistent but he's got quality and a swagger that will serve us well :sorted:

Which is why I wonder why time and again why he trys to go outside his full back. Well I know the answer. ;)We have liitle in the box if he were to give an early cross.

Sam Saunders

If Sam goes you can count on AS to get a bloody good deal. as he seems to have a good relationship with GJ

A good prospect and, IMHO, our best current right-sided midfield permanent-player option. Bostock has great potential but is still learning his way around real professional football and hence will need time to consistently deliver (he is also left footed ). Hopefully Taylor will be shipped out ASAP allowing Bostock to stay longer or another loanee acquired.

He reminds me very much of that fella we used to have on the left wing same things said about him & look what happened to him

Oh hang on he went down the leagues not up

Now what was his name again ?

We replaced him with Weston and look how well he's done

Sam Saunders

If he goes AS wants shooting. It seems he's getting the same ignored treatment he gave Poole.

I'm not quite sure of the similarities between Saunders and Poole (?). There were non-playing issues with Poole long before he went.

Also, even if there are similarities, how can you automatically suggest that Saunders is going to go down a league? I'll tell you now, if Saunders goes to another team in our Division he will come back here and show us what we're missing just like he did last season.

As a matter of interest, if it's suggested that he'll be replaced by someone better a la Poole/Weston, who would we get within our budget?

Sam Saunders

Is it possible that that nice MR Scott really likes him and he is not actually going anywhere..?

I really do like Saunders and hope he gets a chance because he could become a very good player for us but does anyone think he would be better suited in the centre of midfield?

Sam Saunders

I really hope AS gives Sam Saunders the opportunity to develop his skills with us, as I really believe Sam has the ability to become a top player with us, but just needs the time to do that.

Trouble is he is 27 this year...One might say he is at his peak and might not get any better..how long can we give him?

it was tried on FIFA 10 on the XBox and it didnt work

Sam Saunders

I like SS. Let's be honest here, he could of had several goals to his name already this season if it hadn't been for the bar or post getting in the way.
