Should Scott Go?

Dumped out of the FA cup by a team in a lower division.
Out of the Carling cup (Was unlucky there).
Dropping further down the league table.
Gates getting lower.
Fans running out of patience, apart from Mr Logan, whom I honestly respect.
How much worse does it have to get before the board act?
Sorry Mr Scott, no doubt you have done your best, but now it's time for you to go.

I agree with Cromerbee, bring back MA for the remainder of the season, and see how it goes from there.
Unfortunatly, I have this feeling that the board will do **** all.

Could be worse mate, you could be a GILLINGHAM supporter :D

Should Scott Go?

He'll be given a bit more time.
End of the month, I reckon.

I'm off to Plymouth on Sat:(

Should Scott Go?

Most of what I want to say has already been said. Is AS the nearest any Manager of the Month has ever been to the sack? A few interesting comments that I have picked up on.

Yeah! I am too tired, too disappointed and too much in need of a hot chocolate to spend any time defending AS tonight, but Nick Logan deserves no-one's ridicule. As loyal fans go, he is about as good as they come!!

There you have it. Probably as close as it gets to conceding. I also agree about Nick. I actually wanted him to turn out to be right. If by the end of this month we were sitting in the play-off zone, I would have allowed him any amount of gloating he wanted to do. Andy's job would have been safe and we would all have been happy. Looks like it is not to be.

Get Eddie Howe in the summer????

He is well settled. If a bigger club than us just down the road from Bournemouth could not prise him away from there, we have f all chance.

Should Scott Go?

Shops full of Xmas fare.Brentford out of the Carling Cup.out of the FA Cup and most importantly 3 points off the relegation places and sliding.
Manager blaming the players after every defeat, crowds dwindling, lots of diehard fans very upset, not at the defeats, but at the crap football being served up.

Under the present manager our great little club is fast going down the tubes.

MA back for the Plymouth game please and let's bring the smiles(and the crowds) back

totally agree

And many people on the GPG saw it coming, despite recent results. Which makes me wonder why the plank who is in charge of the team is oblivious to the slide in standards. (Edit: or at least HIS role in the poor quality being served up.)

Should Scott Go?

The biggest problem now for BFC is the longer AS stays the more fans we will lose unfortunately. With Xmas coming, do fans really want to pay £20+ to watch that crap. And once those fans leave its near on impossible to get them to come back. I'm sure we all know fellow supporters who have done exactly that over the years. :(

Should Scott Go?

Agree with your comments about being sh*tty to each other on here, but it goes both ways remember that. I just want the best for my club and I don't think AS will ever achieve it. I would rather come 18th playing football then 18th playing the crap we are currently playing. I don't care who the next manager is, I just want to enjoy my football again.

Agreed. I don't think he will either. I'd love him to prove me wrong though. Much cheaper that way.
I just feel we need to debate rather than witch hunt.

Hi Sweepy, You will know when I have conceded because I will say so clearly and unambiguously. I have defended AS strongly (but hopefully for the most part courteously) for a year now and have not quite given up hope that he can turn things round. However, he now needs to act very quickly indeed because we are at present simply too far in terms of quality from where we should be. If signficant changes don't happen in the next few weeks or so, I will concede and take my fill of humble pie!

Should Scott Go?

Scott should leave now. He is out of his depth. His style is suited to non league. Could he manage highly paid , championship/prem players. If MB wants championship football does he also want the team to play it ?

Should Scott Go?

"First half we had a lack of quality in the final third.

According to the commentary on BBC London it was all Aldershot and Brentford although playing some fairly neat stuff at times were hopeless AGAIN up top

"We didn't keep the ball in the opposition half well enough.

well im no physicist but surely the fact were pushing the ball further forward than our players are quick enough to reach (hoofball) will result in us not keeping the ball in the opposing half and ultimately giving away possession?

"The back four can't squeeze up if you don't have the ball.
of course they cant- when you tell your keeper to lump if forward they wont get any of it Andy

"In the first half we gave the ball away seven times on the trot - it allows an opportunity for them to come at us.

again Andy, hoofball only results in one thing when our forwards are small

"If you keep the ball you can get it into your front players and then wide - they did it better than us.

yes when we KEEP the ball as opposed to lumping it into space and hoping

"We have good players, they are all capable on the ball.

exactly- which is why your tactical ineptness is boring is half to death when we have the potential to really be the barcelona of the lower leagues

"Tonight they weren't able to do it for whatever reason.

Perhaps it was something to do with your anti footballing ? Clough said it best:"If God had wanted us to play football in the clouds, he'd have put grass up there."

"You can't do that and expect to win.

Dont quite follow here tbh

"We played with more energy in the second half but still didn't have enough quality.

a point that was illustrated in the early stages of the half but once they weathered our storm in a teacup we had no answers for them

"I'm devastated.

i actually do believe he is devastated to have lost- but something tells me some of the devastation will be about his tarnished reputation

"If you are unlucky you can hold your hands up but we only played for 45 minutes.

Indeed scott. so tell us why we can only play for one half against the likes of aldershot?

"The most frustrating thing is our inconsistency."

which has been brought about by asking a footballing team to constantly play route one football

He added: "We need to freshen things up.

perhaps not running the legs out of our forwards by playing aimless balls into them will help ?

"Sam Saunders came in and did well but he ran out of legs so we had to take him off.

Yet he was one of the few players who even threatened to break the shots on target duck ?

"We need team performances and we are not getting that.

yes because our team have had all the confidence sucked out of them by playing with the wrong tactics

"We didn't do enough as a team."

well the best teams in this sport all play with an understanding of everyones game (ie scholes will play a wonderful forward pass to roony as we know that rooney likes to run around and play with the ball- whereas berbatov will be played a clean ball to his feet so he can get a clean crisp shot) even if we arent making ridiculous passing moves like arsenal a bit more composure and quality will go a long way in making the fans and the board happy again

Should Scott Go?

Gutless, spineless and most of all embarressing.

The best team won which we can all take but the manner of defeat is just not acceptable. I was lucky enough not to be at the MK match but I felt the writing was on the wall against Bournemuff when we were outplayed and lucky to get a point. Our one dimensional play has been sussed out and never mind a Plan B, I'm not sure we've even got a Plan A. You can blame who you like but the buck stops with the manager - I'm not one for change for change sake but I fear the worst and suspect that AS's hard work in moving the club forward will all be undone with relegation, if something doesn't change.

Rant over, I feel slightly better now!

How many points are we off the play offs ?
How many points are we worse off than last season ?

Should Scott Go?

Could be worse you could support both Brentford and West Ham

About a month ago when another poll like this started I wanted to give him more time. Now it has got to the point where we need him to go. He must be the only person down GP who thought we needed more right wingers. Not a creative midfielder. His budget is big for this league so don't tell me there few and far between he has had 6 months to sort that problem out.

The football is awful. Really awful. The crowds know it. Were losing money because of it.

We need to inject life into this football club. Andy has taken this club as far as he can take them.

Sorry mr Scott it's time to go....

Smiffy you are begining to sound like Hitler in the bunker telling his army we are going to win the war.The facts are there, look at the fans who are not turning up.MOTM awards given out by people who havn't even seen us play have had zero impact on getting fans to come to GP.We are playing crap football and as Scotts mate the CEO said its the product on the pitch that will get the fans back.Birmingham and Everton are getting further away and normal service(Walsall,Rochdale,Oldham.Bournmouth,Mk Dons Aldershot) has resumed.

Should Scott Go?

Reading the post match comments this morninig, it is obvious he has no clue. He should just put his comments on a loop and play them all the time. To keep blaming the players is just ludicrous. Has he perhaps thought that they maybe reasonable footballers who are not adept at playing hoofball? I don't know but do think it's time for him to go.

Should Scott Go?

I'd give him till the turn of the year. I think his results over the long term deserve a little breathing space and even the last 9 games are W3 L2 D4 (of which 2 went to pens, one won, one lost), though I agree the standard of football in the last 3 home games has been dire.

He had some bad luck with the squad for last night's game: our first 2 suspensions hitting the same game, both of them CBs and at the time a third CB was injured. But with strikers, he is perhaps paying for gambles that haven't come off on players with past injury problems, or past their best.

His comments on last night's match are however a little concerning. He was begin to sound a bit like Butcher: "what can I do? I'm only the manager"

Should Scott Go?

Problem is Scott never takes the blame it is always the players fault.OK yes they do make mistakes, we all do, but HE is the manager and they play to HIS instructions. If we had a couple of good mildfield players we would score goals, yes GOALS and that would take the pressure off the defence. Wake up Scott everyone can see what we need except you. Maybe we need another winger!!!!:nono: 300ft balls into the corners or to the smallest man on the pitch will not get you goals.

Should Scott Go?

Bollox to the cup and good riddance we are out, the league is vital this term but not in the way I expected. It's gone really badly wrong, I hope Scott leaves with some dignity still intact.

Should Scott Go?

SCOTT OUT???? - What a joke these statements are.
You are all so quick to tell the board to get rid of him, BUT do you really think we'd get anyone better?
Now I'm sure you will reel off names of managers you'd like to see here but if they're any good they will come at a very high premium which might be out of our budget.
I think give him until at least Christmas as we're not in any danger at the minute.
I also think we all need to be realistic with our ambitions for the club lets have a look at what we've done this season
JPT - In the Semi Final
Lg Cup - Beat Hull & Everton and lost on penalties to a Brum in 4th rnd
FA Cup - less said the better
League - 7 pts off the playoffs, not ideal but by no means time to hit the panic button

Should Scott Go?

How many points are we off the play offs ?
How many points are we worse off than last season ?

I checked this morning.
We had played 16 games, by 16th Nov last season, gaining 18 points.
We currently have 19 points this season, from 16 games.
:moo:

Smiffy you are begining to sound like Hitler in the bunker telling his army we are going to win the war.The facts are there, look at the fans who are not turning up.MOTM awards given out by people who havn't even seen us play have had zero impact on getting fans to come to GP.We are playing crap football and as Scotts mate the CEO said its the product on the pitch that will get the fans back.Birmingham and Everton are getting further away and normal service(Walsall,Rochdale,Oldham.Bournmouth,Mk Dons Aldershot) has resumed.

Well someone has to raise the alternative point of view.
As I have said, we are playing crap football, and it's driving the crowds away.
I started to say this well over a year ago, and if I might say so, my mini article at the time, was picked apart by some of the same people who are now wanting the slaughter of Scott.

How sh*te are we?

D:Ream - Things can only get better :sorted:

Should Scott Go?

If I was on the board, I would only give him until then if he accepted that his style of play is wrong, how he was going to change it (which doesn't mean just throwing money at the problem). He would also need to persuade me that he knew how to manage 25 different personalities.

I'm not sure he'd persuade me though .......

The problem for me is not so much that the style of play that AS wants to play is necessarily wrong, but that he doesn't have players of sufficient quality to play it well, that is why we end up playing hoofball. His style requires a combative, confident and able midfielder to move the ball around and create more space for the wingers. I think he was banking on Dave to do this, but he just isn't good enough, and unfortunately Marcus isn't up to the task either. It is this type of player we need to get in fast. We could also do with a nippier striker to pay alongside Alexander. I would give AS until Xmas to do this and judge him then.
As for man-management, tell us more? What do you know?

Should Scott Go?

I thought AS should be given a bit more time.
It's becoming obvious that there is a problem between him and the squad.
We can't continue playing so badly.
All the money chucked at the team and we still haven't got a consistant goal scorer.
2 more defeats and he's on his way IMO.

Scott In (for now)

I would actually leave him in post until just before christmas and if things haven't turned around by then, yes it's time for him to go. People on here seem to have incredibly short memories, Scott did a good job in actually keeping us in the football league after the fiasco of Butcher. He took us up in his first full season in charge and got us to a respectable 9th place last season and as for the clamour of bringing Martin Allen back, yes, smashing bloke, full of passion but when it comes to the crunch, ie making the final push for promotion just can't hack it. His track record after leaving Brentford, shows he's been sussed out by every club he's been at since. Scott's problems started in the close season, when he failed to sign a big target man, (6 ft plus), a must for this level of football, a midfielder with a bit of creativity and an eye for goal and a ball winning CM who can actually lead and inspire the team, (sorry but KOC is at best a league 2 RB).

Should Scott Go?

The football at the moment is awful. I understand us needing to grind out some results - which we did - but the performances are just bleak.

I'm not entirely in the Scott Out camp yet - and Smiffys comment regarding points earnt so far - as well as the tightness of this league - do give me some cause for optimism that we can come through this. When a lot of the players were signed I was pleased, and I do think that the likes of Lee, Simmo, Woodman and Alexander have proved to be good additions to our team and/or squad.

We've seen before that changes to the manager are not always good -at the same time they can be a real positive. So there is an element of gambling whatever we do. Good job we've got a professional gambler in charge of the purse strings then....

Should Scott Go?

We need a fresh manager who can come in, look at our players, without having any favourites. Someone who can manage the lads properly. Against dons, Pim looked unhappy. Weston looked like he's fed up.

Something has to change before the whole squad is depressed

Right now I'd give David Hunt a start, for sheer enthusiasm if nothing else. Doubt he'll be any worse than what we've had in the centre recently and his set pieces and (wince) even the long throw might at least change our predictable style of play

Should Scott Go?

Keep hearing we are only 7 points from play off place but the truth is we are only 3 points from relegation places & I KNOW which is nearer. And it doesn't even look like getting any better.

Should Scott Go?

The board will give AS until the New Year - The crux & sad reality will be the shocking crowds for our festive games. Left over turkey & mince pies will seem more attractive.

Should Scott Go?

I have a season ticket that will be getting put away soon if things don't pick up, as I have 101 better things to be doing than watching us have one shot on goal on a saturday afternoon.

Plymouth should be a great day out as it is a new ground, but as for the football i'm not expecting much!

Voting with our feet may be the only answer!

Should Scott Go?

haven't heard his comments from last night but no doubt he will be disassociating himself from "the players" and "the players failed to ________" etc.

"scott must go" is a bit biased for the name of this referendum innit tho.

Should Scott Go?

clueless at present Scott. you can't blame a 1-0 loss on a bad start - that gives you 82 minutes to get back at them. and a bad 45 minutes is still only 1-0 down: why aren't they responding in the 2nd half.

this follows up the "i told a man to stand on the back post" (for MK Dons first goal) "but he didn't" - why weren't you screaming at him at the time of the corner to get on the back post? why aren't you subbing the players who aren't doing as you tell them if it is as basic as this?

unacceptable.
