lol internet petitions, ALWAYS the most effective form of protest lol

With due respect mr Trunk, you weren't there yesterday. You wouldn't be laughing if you were.

Stuart Attwell

I had not realised just how much of a golden boy this man is looking at his FIFA nomination and all that. I gather he could be officiating at Champions League level soon?

Will make any appeal very difficult as they will not want him/them to look foolish, this was not an honest and understandable mistake but a complete misjudgement...will be very difficult for the club methinks as it might get political.

Stuart Attwell

To send a player off at all, you need to be really sure - even more so in the first 10 minutes when you could ruin the game as a contest and a spectacle. In this case, no Notts Co players were protesting about a 'violent' challenge, the linesman didn't seem worried, yet Attwell had to 'impose himself' on the game

Stuart Attwell

Shouldn't we all be emailing someone at the FA to express how bad he was/is? Could that help with any appeal that we go for?

if he's sh*t, the FA will hardly want him doing big European games.. We'd be doing them a favour1!

FA : 'One question Stuart. We've looked at the video many times. If a similar incident happened after a few minutes of a Champions League semi-final in say Milan or Madrid would you send off the home player?'

Groupthink rules, they think he's good and cannot see any faults.

If we appeal on Elder I would be very surprised if they overturn it as they will see what they want to see.

any confirmation of our appeal yet, and if so, how long do these things usually take..?

The more fans that complain the better. I am quite sure they have already been swamped by complaints about the muppett already. They can't ALL be in denial about his incompetance. Can't think D'Urso thinks much of him and will now be having a quiet word with his superiors to let them know about what a joke he is to football.

Champions League?! You are kiddinglolroflroflrofl

Stuart Notwell should be kept away from football until he is a qualified referee. First things first though - he'll be concentrating on his 11+ this year.

Stuart Attwell

So any suggestions as to where to fire off an email to enlighten them as to what this pratt does to you?

...............but he is a qualified referee.......................

Stuart Attwell

he was being ironic, as in "doesnt it make you laugh that he's a qualified ref"...err, I think he was anyway :)

Stuart Attwell

I hope that they don't relegate him to the conference side. They won't want him refereeing their games either...

football league

I am in 2 minds whether this is worthwhile (sending off protest e-mails)
If anyone is thinking of doing so, then I'd suggest they need to be carefully worded and full of facts (referring to video footage of the sending off for example) otherwise, they may well be dismissed out of hand.

I feel the only justice we can now seek is the overturning of Elder's red card.

There is no point setting up a witch hunt for this ref in general terms

Stuart Attwell

Fans writing to the FL or the FA won't make any difference imo

I have watched and re-watched... and I don't even think its a foul!!! let alone a red card!

I think it was Dickson who headed it (sorry, wasn't there and not sure if that was him heading it) up and out, with Elder LOOKING AT THE BALL the whole time. The on coming defender knows Elder is there, and still goes forward to challenge. With Elder running backwards, and the defender progressing, it was inevitable that the two players would clash. Everyone knows that most players use their arms to give them a lift, and this is what Elder done.
Whats more, I notice the referee is not even close enough, or on the right side of the players, to determine whether he actually made contact with an elbow. I know his arm is up, but again, I take note that most players use their arms for more lift.
How does the referee know if the defender didn't just jump into Elder? He doesn't. He surely was not 100% sure he elbowed him. For it to be an instant dismissal he has to prove that it was intentional or malicious.. and in my view, neither.

Stuart Attwell

Looking at it I cannot see how it's a red card for Elder. The defender moves towards Elder not the other way round and Nathan only has eyes for the ball.

The reaction of the Notts County players says it all - three or four of them seem to be commiserating with Nathan as they are surprised the red card was brought out.

I am going to contact the football league as I'm a qualified ref and I think it's a shockingly bad decision.

Can we fast track you to the next World Cup ladbrook? :)

.

That was the general feeling amongst all of us, we were peed off that he had blown up and then amazed that a card of any colour came out.

I've sent an email off, stating that in 30 years I've never seen a more bizarre refereeing display. I know it means eff all but if nobody does then he just carries on being crap, at least if we pipe up they must have doubts the madman.

Stuart Attwell

Thanks for the link,Ive watched it a few times and whilst Nathan does clobber him theres not way he knows the oppo players then.He couldnt of been watching the ball more intently if he tried.Unfortunate that he caught the defender but there was no intention to.If violent conduct gets lowered to dangerous play,is that just a booking?

Andy is appealing, well I think he is after a few beers, but saying that even Smiffy is attractive then

More likely they will increase it to a six game ban for BFC having the gall to appeal against such a clear cut decision and Atwell will be in charge of the big Merseyside FA cup game next weekend as a reward for having to put up with those "angry" lower league plebs from West London......

I'm not joking either....

...depends on what you are trying to achieve......I appeal all parking tickets I get, and usually get them rescinded...

If you are trying to get the FA / FL to judge Mr Attwell, then thats a hopeless cause, unless you are a referee assessor

If you are trying to alert them to a miscarriage of justice, re-Nathan Elder, then thats a different matter

:imwith:

The defender is clearly moving towards Elder. Don't know why their manager thought it was a yellow card though?? Either it's a deliberate elbow and a red or an unavoidable clash and play on.

It should be overturned, with an written apology from tw*twell to Elder (as if that would happen!) but you can never tell with them lot...

Doubt it makes any difference, Elder had his arm up and there was contact and they will say if the referee saw it as dangerous play or whatever then they will back him up irrespective of whether they would have come to the same decision in his shoes.

Good on AS for appealing but I hope he is searching for another striker on loan.

Anyone that has played football will tell you that to get a decent leap you have to put your arms up to get the elevation. If Elder gets suspended for this then the league will have to make it illegal for any player to have their hands up whilst jumping. If mr Attwell is reading this thread. It cost me and others over £50 pound to travel up to GP and watch the game. I came to see two teams play football, not to watch you trying to grab the headlines ala Graham Poll. A good ref is one that you hardly notice.

We've appealed and hopefully that's alerted them to the miscarriag eof justice, but they must receive loads of e-mails about refereeing decisions. It's worth asking the FL why he won't be dropped if we win the appeal etc. but don't think they'll take into account how the fans feel when making the deicsion as to whether overturn the ban

I'm quite chilled about this but I can imagine getting a bit worked up should the gin swiggers support their little boy.
