I watched the 2nd half and he put a good couple of crosses in and looked to drift inside to get on the ball. Wasn't the best player on pitch but looked usefull

I watched the whole first half and some of the second .He hardly got a touch and wasnt involved . Took a couple of ok corners ,that was about it. Really under whelmed after what Id read about him ,but Linfield were much the better team .

I felt the same. He did however, make a couple of good runs into the box but the ball was not passed to him. Luckily Uwe and his team have watched him on a number of occasions rather than the one game and trust their judgement.......... rather than mine !! Standard was about Conference level, maybe pushing L2 IMHO. Will be interesting to see what he brings to the table at pre season games.

Yep ,top conference to mid L2 standard .

We are talking about one player hear, not the team. His potential has been recognised by BFC. We are talking about a 21 year old kid here who the club feels has a good future in league football. By playing at a higher level. hopefully he will only get better. BUt I would say expect Stuart to be learning his trade next season .

Agree 100%. It will take him some time to adjust and learn. We know Uwe and Mark Warburton have done their homework so I am looking forward to seeing him in preseason games but not expecting him to hit the ground running as a starter in the first team. Hope some of the crowd as are as patient. He took up some great positions yesterday but as I said didn't get the ball.

Does anyone know if he was playing for Crusaders today v Derry City in the Setanta Cup and how he got on? BBC site just shows the fixture, but it must be over by now.

One would hope so. Another youngster who along with Redwood and Mawson impressed in the pre season and you would hope to see something of them in the first team squad at some point this season.

I would hope we were trying to get Redwood & Mawson out on loan either to a div 2 side or a blue sq premier side. Was very impressed with both in pre-season friendlies.

On the bench tonight.

Why not give him a game? Can't be worse than Clayton?

Having seen him for the first time last night, and Fredericks against Oldham, they seem quite similar.... very fast, direct right wingers. They're probably not the most expensive players in our squad, but do we need two wingers of that sort when we generally don't play any? Nothing against either of them, who both look promising, but from a player numbers point of view, an extra CB or striker might have been more useful; including Saunders, you could have said that we had 3 RM/RW among 5 subs last night, which isn't much variety

Think they're pretty different. Fredericks is tricky with explosive pace but a nit frail whereas Dallas is a powerhouse, strong and clever.

I thought Dallas looked decent. Strong and direct with awareness of where his team-mates were

Both are young and promising players who can play a variety of positions so wouldn't categorise them as "wingers" by any stretch of the imagination, D.allas can play up top and Fredericks can fill in at full back as you pointed out both are probably relatively inexpensive and talented so it's a bit of a no-brainer (sorry no pun intended!)

Good to see him getting a chance.

My Irish mate was gutted to see him leave.

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Nice goals. Did we know he was a striker? Does Uwe know?

Stuart Dallas - Old thread

Now this is a man to run the channels like CD and has the confidence, saw him in the preseason and liked him but he seams to have moved up a gear since going full-time pro
