Yep. Makes a huge difference. Alcohol while playing is still rife in professional darts and if they don’t over do it, it gives them a huge advantage over the very small number of players who don’t drink (Dobey being the most high profile).

Even when Rock was 9-6 up you just knew if he gave Littler an inch he’d be in trouble.
It won’t happen but I’d really like Noppert to win this. One of the most under appreciated players in darts and a win here would put him provisionally into the top four and potentially mean the PDC has no choice but to put him in the PL.

It’s ridiculous. Rock, Noppert and Humphries were all ahead against him but you can’t make more than one minor mistake or he’ll punish you.
Van Veen might be the only player with a chance of getting close to him over the next few years.

Got rattled by the crowd early in his semi final, never seen him react like that before and took a few legs to recover. Felt for Gerwin Price when an idiot shouted Boo-yah! from the crowd as he was about to checkout…he never recovered from that. He gets a hard time from the audience, but is a great player and a big character.

They should do but their both knocking on and the PDC will want Aspinall in.
The Premier League is nothing more than a travelling exhibition and the PDC want their most marketable players in it. Only Littler sells more shirts than Aspinall.

Players championship final Littler v Aspinal should be a cracker. Both very much in form. Littler to win 11-10, with a 9 darter and big fish finishes thrown in.

Getting a bit boring now. Nothing against Littler, it’s not his fault his head and shoulders above the rest but knowing the eventual winner of every tournament from the outset takes away any intrigue.

I called it at the start of the year, Littler had been great for darts but if he has a Taylor like reign for 5+ years it will harm the popularity of darts.
Not his fault of course and fair play to him as he is exceptionally good, just an observation.

Watching the world championships from Lakeside…
I thought it had collapsed so surprised to come across it on SC4 just now.
It is truly dreadful standard and crowd look like they have been pulled in against their will.
A long way from when I went for a week there on the piss everyday over twenty years ago. Won a fortune gambling which paid for the “holiday”

It’s the WDF which was effectively the successor to the BDO.
And, yes, the standard of play and production is terrible. Many of the players who don’t hold PDC Tour cards opt to play in the ADC Global championships instead.

The last two being two lucky boys. To clarify, the top 4 in the Order of Merit typically get selected automatically, the other four is a combination of who the PDC thinks will do the best viewing numbers (Aspinall) or who they can't justify leaving out (Clayton).
The PL is effectively an invitational and therefore carries no ranking money (despite being the second most financially lucrative event on the calendar).

They've selected Bunting again - essentially on the back of his social media following - which is a bit of a joke. No Aspinall who won three Euro tours last year. Tough on Danny Noppert as well who reached four major SFs.

I was at his first appearance at the Lakeside and love the bloke paid for our whole weeks accomodation, booze and food thanks to him winning his first round tie at 7/2 or 9/2. We did the smart thing and just punted on averages prior to the tournament his were excellent in the dog and duck leagues but as an unknown quantity against a name his odds were fantastic. So never going to say a bad word against him. Also had a pint with him after he was knocked out and he was a good laugh albeit probably just about legally off drinking age.
