That may your opinion of Mr Scott's opinion. However, for what it's worth, AS wanted rid of Pead, but let Mousinho go for his own good rather than keep him as a squad player.

O'Connor and Smith are out, and I'm willing to bet that AS would go for the relatively experienced and strong Mousinho ahead of Artus.

The really depressing thing is that Pead will probably get the nod on Saturday.

A bit like Heywood last season, both Andy and myself are impressed with Pead's attitude to this campaign.

I see your point, but I think John was released, cos Andy really didnt see him as a League 2 player.
Pead was listed, cos Andy felt he could use his wage money much much better.
He has had a few decent games for Wycombe, lets hope he has a poor one on Saturday

The Gary Smith thread

If Pead "gets the nod this Saturday" I think AS needs his judgement questioned, after Peads performance these last two Saturdays.
I'd love to know what goes on at the AS half time talk as too often the team has come out somewhat de-motivated. It brings to mind this quote on another WEB site

“It will be interesting to see whether his (AS) bite in the transfer market can live up to his bark in the dressing room.
It remains to be seen whether Scott’s robust personality will work amongst tender egos at this level but he possesses the ideas and potential to go far, so long as he doesn’t alienate too many players along the way.”

In last season's game I remember us having loads of time in midfield and Pettigrew playing in CM. He didn't have a clue or the necessary ability to use it so the thing that stuck in my mind was to never play average defenders in midfield. Arise Sir Pead.

I wouldn't rule out playing Pead and Artus, with Williams on the bench, against the side who are top of the table.

I'd play Artus and Williams, and have Pead on the bench in case we need to defend later in the game, but could understand an alternative approach.

Are you a psychologist or an expert in body language? Otherwise how do you know too often the team comes back out de-motivated?

Pead and Artus
Artus and Williamss :eek::eek:

Bean and Artus all the way (or Mr Smith, if he is still alive !)

I wouldn't change a winning side and they looked pretty motivated in the second half last Saturday....

The Gary Smith thread

I wouldnt either,it wouldnt be good for morale.Look, its obvious that Garys been stolen,no one seems bothered. The club havent made a statement that he missing yet that Ive seen?

He's working as a Thai ladyboy to pay off his insurance debt. He'll be back soon but it may be a while before he's walking straight.

At the Rotherham game Smudger said at HT that he expected to be fit for the Wycombe game.

The Gary Smith thread

how long does it normally take Les?You still stoop a little I notice

You can take the man out of the ladyboy, but you can never take the ladyboy out of the man.

The Gary Smith thread

Whats up with Smudger? Why wasnt he mentioned on the O/S update today?

In case the opposition read the web site and it will give them an advantage if they now the fitness of our players

From a match fitness angle, I'd be surprised if he came straight back as a starter. Dickson's brief appearances as a sub have shown that it often takes 2 or 3 shorter appearances to get back up to speed

The Gary Smith thread

I wonder if he played in the training match against Oxford mentioned in the mid week update.

I here he is in for another scan on Monday. Possible piece of chipped bone trapped in an ankle ligament.

Injection time or Op?

I cant see how an injection can cure a chipped bone?Doesnt sound good.

The Gary Smith thread

Heard him saying he's got to have an operation and will be out for a while :(

The Gary Smith thread

We need him. No other midfielder we have possesses any attacking qualities :(

The Gary Smith thread

Only yesterday? How long before he's fully fit? I'm just glad we got Josh Wright in, as he can play the Smith role, whereas Pead and O'Connor can't.

The Gary Smith thread

Sorry have I missed something??? Wright playing the Smith role??? Have to say that I have seen little evidence of that in his last 2 games, needs to determine whether he is holding or attacking midfielder as at present he is caught bewtween the 2 and the game is pasing him by

I can see what you mean, but think to be fair that in the second half of both home games he's played he's come into the game and looked good. Not as good as Smith, who we miss massively, but I think Wright's got more chance of filling in effectively than any of our other options...

The Gary Smith thread

We need him back now. Reports in the press a few weeks ago said he'd be playing again by mid November. Can anyone shed any light?

The Gary Smith thread

I heard he won't be back till at least Christmas :(

But in all pure and simple honesty that's all hearsay.

The Gary Smith thread

he is not the answer
dont know what he does in the summer but he is always injured for the new season.
We cant afford to have players who play now and then

The Gary Smith thread

He will fit perfectly into our team..we need him back soon.

The Gary Smith thread

I think he's a great player, but we cannot expect a player who will not have played competitively for 8 months to come in and be "the answer" straight away.

The Gary Smith thread

He came with an injury prone reputation and so sadly it has proved to be, a very good player but not a lot of use to us if he never gets on the field.

He will need the equivalent of a whole pre season training to get fit enough so reckon all being well he might get a run out in the final quarter of the season.

That said he is not going to be a lot of use to us this season ( and I would not renew his contract either due to his injuries unless it was pay as you play) so AS needs to be thinking of a suitable replacement in January ( and I guess he was hoping Halls would be that) , to do that he will have to ship out one or more of the defensive midfield players like Pead or KOC.
