...........he gets stick because he is not a cultured midfielder,doesn't hit 40 yard passes or strl around the midfield.................he does all the dirty niggly work that unfortunately goes unnoticed.........always gives 100%............we missed him away at Sheff Utd..........

We need a player like Marcus in the squad, he gives us something no one else does at the moment bar possibly Sam Wood. There will be games and oppo that his energy and willingness to press non stop will be suited to. I trust that Uwe has recognised that no one style works everytime and that he will pick players and formations to suit the opposition and conditions.
My preference is to watch a side with two pacey wing backs like Logan playing out from the back quickly
We saw it won't work against sides with lots of Marcus Bean types like Tranny- we were naive and didn't have the right players but since Uwe appears to be prepared to adapt and can see games when it'll be McGinn abd Harry time and others when it's more dogs of war and that suits
me.

bean is a really useful player for us, halfway through last season i thought we should let him go due to his poor passing but since then hes won me over with his performances , total commitment and outstanding attitude. never has a tantrum when dropped just gets on with it and trys to improve his game which i think he has done , even though he is quite old he still seems able to learn and improve himself. im not saying he should be in the starting 11 week in week out but imo he can play a role in a promotion winning team

Beano should alway be in the first 16 if not the first 11 good player, good attitued and good work ethic. Centre mid spots should be between him, Tomanui, and Douglas.

Definitely got a big part to play. Maybe not in every game, but I'm hoping uwe is learning which players,tactics and strategies work for different types of games.

In is first season im sure the Bean Machine scored 8 or 9 goals?I remember his goals away at Lincoln, Port Vale and Chesterfield. He used to get into great goalscoring positions, didnt realise hes only 26!

Did well at Walsall, was my MOM, but is going to have to do it much more consistently in future. Amazing how a decent effort from Bean, O'Connor and (for 5 mins) Spillane and everyone comes out in support of them. Past evidence tells us that like many of the 'old guard' (Alexander, Weston, etc), for every good shift Bean puts in, four or five very average showings follow. Let's hope this is the turning point for him and Rosler uses him in the correct way. Still would expect to see him released at the end of the season as things stand.

Marcus has a role to play at Brentford without a doubt. He is more of a water carrier than an innovator but this is L1 at that type of player is vital, especially away from home at places like Walsall. Would be interested to know if Rosler would have picked him at Sheff Utd if knew what he does about his squad/this league now.

You're right and your final paragraph makes an interesting point. Uwe concedes he has made tactical mistakes and that he needs to be able to adapt and change personnel and formations so suggests he recognises sometimes we will play pretty free flowing football from the back but sometimes especially away from home we will grind out results. That being the case we will need a mixture of silky skills on occasions and on other days Marcus' and Sam
Wood dogs of war battling performances.

I think we have to give Uwe time to assess and analyse every players capabilities. Everyone played well on Saturday earning us a win that boosted confidence and its been said on here before, this is a work in progress. As fans we have seen the majority of our players over the last few seasons and although we all share different opinions on each one, Uwe is still learning about what players suit certain games etc. Of course his hands are tied sometimes with injuries as we saw on Saturday but that was a great example of what can be achieved by players who are on the fringe of the squad champing at the bit for a game. We have had a nice solid start, albeit with a couple of disappointing performances and are heading in the right direction playing decent football. We now seem to have a manager who is on a steep learning curve, admitting his mistakes and adjusting accordingly. No one was expecting us to run away with the league but there is no doubt we can do well this season. I watched the Charlton game last night and they looked poor. Really looking forward to saturday.

WHY IS HE STILL AT THE CLUB. He is about 98 years old, the grey hair disgusts me and the talent is just not there is it? I feel sick when i hear Peter announcing number 2 kevin oconnor in the starting line up as i know we have surrenderd the 3 points. Playing him shows the lack of ambition at the club and i have sent several letters of anger to managers about this since Leroy Roseinior and it s yet to change. I know you all agree with me, so please sign my petition to get him released. Thank you all for your support.

Are you for real???? Many on here at times have criticised specific areas of Kevs game and have been equally quick to praise him. He is, in my opinion, the ultra proffessional always works as hard as he can, recognises his own limitations and tries to make the best of the skills that he has. We have seen him play the last 2 games I beleive which have resulted in 2 wins.
I would not expect to see Kev being in the starting line up each week however there is a role for him even if it is coming off the bench, I would suggest that by the end of the season Kev will have been in more squads than most.
