The Marcus Bean thread
Its not about how good Bean is, the question should be can we get better. If the answer is yes then we have to go for it, simples surely.

Yeah we do need grafters as well as flair players, but we can get better grafters in than Bean...
I can't remember a single thing he did today...doesn't mean that usually is the case. But I've always believed we can do better when we have a 3 month gap to find someone...
Moribee, don't you feel a tadge embarrassed by the remarks you aim at posters who simply wish to express a view which is contrary to yours? Unfortunately, you are not the only one. The end product of your abuse is that no-one takes you seriously except the others who behave in a similarly disrespectful manner.No-one takes them seriously either.![]()
Says the man who has spent most of the season slagging off the club and the Manager .

oyalties misplaced maybe ?
Not in the least, you are missing the ethos, and have on problem with others opinions but there are times when loyalty to a player who part of a championship winning team rises above all this nitpicking criticism. It's unbelievable how easy people are prepared to ditch things they have become bored with. No repeat or self respect and I question why some people on here go to GP. I hope some of their customers or employers and ready to yield the hatchet on them. My opinion ok!!! Get some bloody loyalty.

I thought Mori didnt like Beano as he had qpr blood?
I've got enough years "service" supporting Brentford so I think I can have an opinion on anything I like without being self-righteously lectured to. Who made you the King of Brentford btw - you do like to tell fellow Bees fans what they should and shouldn't think?
You don't like others who have different opinions. How about you move on as you don't have the ability to be on here for another year. Hope he gets offered another year but at end of day it's up to the club not you.
Love different opinions,it's how we learn in life, weigh up values of things. I don't like a player being stabbed in the back when 3 years ago he was being cheered. He has done no wrong this season,if people havent got anything decent to say about the lad keep it shut. Next step is personal abuse from the terraces in my opinion.I'm fine with all sorts of different opinions - we can't all be the same. You seem to need us all to think your way though.
Evidence......Bean still goes to Loftus Road and wishes QPR well on twitter. Surprised moribee isn't demanding he be burnt at the stake.

............the Championship, but look back at Brentford's history - we've been at that level just once since the 2nd world war.
I must have been watching another team between 1947 and 1954...........![]()
...unless you have the evidence - i'll say this is NOT true....
not that it matters all that much really....
Exactly. The arguement for some to keep him is that you need grafters in the side. Totally agree, but we need to be looking for a better class of grafter.
Stabbing him in the back? Personal abuse?
There's more abuse by numpties on twitter than at our ground or on the GPG.
Bean is a limited player. He does what he does when we need it. He's not one you want hanging onto the ball. He wins it and gives it to someone who's a little more skilful. If the club can afford it and he's prepared to sit in the stands and to be called upon when needed then fine. I think he deserves first team football but at a level he can play at. He'll get offers, or maybe he's had offers, from clubs in league 1 & 2 but not from clubs aiming for the Championship.
OK Moribee I will bite as well.
Bean has done very well for the club and has given the best that he can, he is 100% committed and never scared to go in for a tackle. However for all his strengths he also has weaknesses which are clear for all to see.
Dont see anyone stabbing him in the back, I do see, in the main, well argued posts discussing his merits and whether these merits are sufficient to offer him a further contract. My own opinion is that, unless the management are aware of a similar player with the same strengths and better skills, then a years contract is not unreasonable.
You go on to mention loyalty however the one thing I can assure you is that footballers are all fully aware that the only loyal people involved in football are teh supporters. Players will follow the money, as will Managers, whilst at the same time if a player does not "fit" then he will not be offered a contract. There have been exceptions, recall the club giving Statham an additional years contract after he had broken his leg, however in todays world a footballer is no more or less than a well paid comodity.
I have no doubt that if we were to let him go he would find a new club to ply his trade and earn considerably more than most posters on here!!
If you beleive that he is worthy of a 2 year contract then justify it with reasons, loyalty is not a valid one!!
Just going by his tweets this season. Not gonna trawl through the lot for 'evidence'. Ask him yourself if he still feels fondly about QPR?
I agree though, totally irrelevant. Just surprised by moribee's double standards, that's all.

He was referring to The Korean War!

Ok those who keep advocating giving him a new contract please support your arguments because today he showed all the reasons not to

I don't think one poor performance radically changes peoples opinions of him just as a good one wouldn't either. Judge him over the seasons performances. Agree with those who believe he should have been subbed earlier than he was today. Not his type of game at all but Dave wasn't any better and even Douglas didn't reach the heights of recent performances.
It was clear today that huff and puff was not going to be enough, unfortunately that is all that Bean offers. He cannot perform how we need him to, its in both parties interests that he moves on. Its a no brainer.
He fully lived up to his reputation today of being someone who can break up attacks - the problem was that it was our attacks he was breaking up every time he got the ball
