Frank Burrowes would, in my opinion be a good shout, has a decent record and does not suffer fools gladly.
One thing our board has to do is to take the "Bull by the horns" regarding Martin Allen, they have to either approach him and offer him the job or approach him setting out terms that they know he will not accept so they can publicly say he has turned us down.
If they do nothing about him the the new manager instantly has his hand tied behind his back as there will be numerous fans using the argument that if MA was here all would be well.
Yes he can do a good job for us and would bring back some fun times ( not necessarily of a football nature!!) but there is an old axiom in life " never go back" and I feel that it applies in this case, allowing the clubto put this ghost to bed allowing a new manager to do the job without the albatross of MA round his neck.
So from the clubs point of view go to MA on the basis of take the job on the basis it is now and prove how good you are or dont bother and we will tell the rank and file of fans that you turned it down.

The critical one as everyone seems to assume in our fantasy land that he would at least see out his short term contract to the end of the season. Post Xmas is a big change your manager time for struggling clubs and will be a time of opportunity for Mr MA. There would need to be something else to tie him in as I've posted on the other thread.

How realistic is it that we will get someone like Newell or Cotterill?
Wasn't it reported that Newell asked Millwall for £400k a year or something ridiculous like that? Cotterill also did a good job with Burnley in the Championship, going straight from that to a struggling League Two side is a big step down.
Martin Allen... again, would he come? He has always looked out for number one. He left us for a League Two side with more money, he failed to get them promoted with a great squad, then jumped ship to Leicester. Why would he come back to us now we are more skint than ever?
Clough - has been at Burton coming up to 10 years, I would assume he is quite happy to stay there.
Even people like Waddock, Buckle, would they leave clubs aiming for promotion in the Conference? It would seem they have as much chance as Brentford of being in League Two next season.
I'm thinking someone unemployed or at a much smaller non league club are the best bets. Chris Hughton is one that catches my eye, he has plenty of coaching experience at the highest level, and would presumably have very good contacts. It's always a risk going for someone who hasn't been a full manager though.

Inglethorpe is coaching Spurs youth. It seems to me that going for a comfortable position like that when he was a highly rated manager coming through doesn't speak too highly of his ambition.

All makes sense, I would think that Chris Hughton a proven coach would be ideal if we were pre season and if we could afford him. However given the dire circumstances I don't see how the selection panel can consider anyone who hasn't proven ability at this level, he won't have 2 years to turn things around. I can't follow the logic of needing a manager with sound knowledge of the lower leagues. We need a manager who can motivate and get us out of the poo. MA is the man and I say again deep down we know it. So he walked, wouldn't you in your job if a better opportunity came along. We view these issues in a different way, we don't think common sense we think Brentford. MA created a very unique atmosphere, I suspect the opposition were hating the thought of coming up against him - he was in his own right worth a few points over the season. I hope that he will come back and we grab his coat tail and away we go. Fair enough season end we see where we go, personally I want to go to League Football. Be realistic before it;s too late.

Can somebody please tell me this leaked bit of information that obvioulsy most of you Know that means MA has decided budget is not important and that he feels like settling down at griffin park for a good couple of years, I beg you to put me out of my misery! Of course this is after he had accepted the budget restrictions that go with the club. The budget at MK Dons was closer to 2 million pounds. Many of you may dream of this scenario, but can you honestly see it happening?
Alternatively carry on dreaming, the reality is a nightmare.

Somebody who is passionate, willing to take responsibility when things don't go well, is able to pick up a handful of free transfers in the new window and will ship out some of the rubbish signed by the previous management.
Somebody who will communicate with the fans, sack the goalkeeping coach with the disgusting attitude, give our young players a kick up the backside and teach them that the higher leagues won't come calling unless they show a work ethic like Hunt, Tabb, Turner and the like.
Somebody who will do the work in the community to raise the profile of the club proudly sporting their Bees issue clothing, and by this I don't mean doing a Talk Sport interview about how poor the current England manager is. Somebody who comes in and says "I don't care about the budget, I've got 20-odd people here who are paid to be professional footballers, and they will train day and night until we get things right on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon".
Somebody who will play players in their correct positions and who won't complicate things with 4-1-2-1-1-1 formations when a simple 4-4-2 with midfielders who will chase everything down, forwards who will play on the last man and a couple of wide men who can put in a decent cross when in behind the full back will do.
All for £70k a year.
Any ideas who? I don't have the knowledge of any of the candidates on the poll (except for the obvious one) to say. Question is, do the people who are in charge of employing this person have that knowledge either?

Bassett has been offered the job twice and wasn't interested.
MA is the man to the end of the season. We need results now and he is the best bet to keep us in the league. Worry about next year when we've got enough points to survive. We are in a fight here and MA doesn't mind a scrap. Read somewhere that he hasn't ruled out a return. GD could get him on a game by game basis and part company at the end of the season if need be. We retain league 2 status and MA enhances his reputation further. It would be MA taking the chance not us. We could then recruit a long term manager at our leisure if MA didn't want it.
Of course MA could say sod off.

I personally would've stuck with Butcher... but my personal choice for new manager would be Peter Taylor.

It would not surprise me at all to see Alan Devonshire offered the thankless task of managing our club.
He is local.
Has great knowledge of the lower leagues.
And will not demand a huge wage.
He would not be my first choice but I would say that his style of management would suit what is required at present.

Having Allen back is like inviting the ex back after she has shagged the nieghbourhood and then walked out on you for the milkman. Shes now been dumped and your eye sight is failing and so is your memory, you want her back for the horizontal dancing and you forget about the rows, the infidelity and the strife, all of which will rear their ugly head within weeks of a fantastic return!
